Just been talking to my neighbour. He and his family are Nigerian. They haven't been here that long. Both work. They have small dcs.
He's had to take today off work as he works in a town that's been targeted and he's scared to travel.

I'm in tears I'm so angry. Those bastards wouldn't know how to fucking spell work. Luckily I got inside before I broke down. Dh is also teary. They're the loveliest family. I'm genuinely scared for my African neighbours. There's a lot of families moved here from the south because of a housing shortage. All of them that I've met are decent lovely people. Wish I could say the same for a lot of people who are from here.

We're broken aren't we? What the fuck is to be done?

@Abigail47 who's saying this has just happened? We all know they're there. It's just that they're coming out of the woodwork more and more and don't seem to care about the consequences. People have been murdered through racism for many years. We can read here about racism people have experienced. It's nothing new.
SM is highlighting everything now So we see it all. Plus it's easier for them to organise their riots/meetings. These riots aren't stopping anytime soon imo.
People are going to die(again). And it probably won't be the rioters.

I don't think so.
They tried in my Town yesterday (not far from Bradford) but about 10 morons turned up, wandered about a bit being largely ignored by 2 vans full of Police and then left again.
Unfortunately lots of shops closed early and people avoided the Town Centre just in case so it was a bit disruptive

I've lived in other countries. There is racism and xenophobia in every country that I've lived in. Not just the UK. It's the same mentality everywhere.

It seems to be driven by a misguided notion of : humans think they own a patch of land. We own this land. Its ours. And foreigners are not welcome here

Then they put visas and hoops that foreigners have to jump through to say that they can stay on the land.

Yet even when these people are granted citizenship, they are looked down on as " new land".

So if a person's parents move to the UK, and they have a child born in the UK, that child will be looked down on as "not really from the UK".

It's like new money. I was in Ireland last week and I have an Irish friend there who is married to a Nigerian woman. They have a daughter. The daughter puts up online videos about life in Ireland and being irish. They told me she gets comments all the time that she is not really irish. Even though she was born in Ireland to an Irish father. Like people make such a stupid big deal about nationality

People want you to have lived in a place for ten generations before they see you as being from that place.

When in reality no one owns a patch of land. People move around all the time.

Yes there were recently a lot of riots in Ireland about immigrants.

The rioters set fire to hotels where immigrants were staying in Ireland.

There were a huge amount of riots all over Ireland. Earlier this year

The riots in Ireland were also sparked by certain events.
A non Irish man murdered an Irish woman.
And a non Irish man attacked some people outside a school in dublin.
These two events sparked the riots.
But the hatred in those people against foreigners were there already

You could point out to them that plenty of Irish men have murdered Irish women but they will still say that foreigners are responsible for all the wrongdoing

Spoke to neighbour. Her dh has gone to work today so hopefully he'll be ok? I said she has to tell me if we can help she said she will. I told her about my friend offering money and she was so grateful not at all insulted or at least didn't seem it? I said I know he doesn't know you but he's just a kind man. Her dh isn't losing a wage as he's swapped days.

On the videos of the riots you just see them all smirking away behind their mobile phones. Mindless thugs and many of them would be murderers by now but for police stepping in. Sickening. Feel for your neighbour and anyone else suffering same.

This isn’t to do with the riots (or maybe it is!) but today I was in town at a major set of traffic lights where there were a stream of cars waiting to leave a one way street. The lights for these cars was on green BUT the lead car quite rightly was waiting as sirens were going and she couldn’t see to the right (blind spot) so she waited til the ambulance passed. This was approximately 1 minute. A guy two cars behind had been blaring his horn then got out, threw her car open and absolutely ranted at her for not moving! She tried to explain why but he was so full of hatred and just was so abusive. Once the ambulance went she turned right and he followed with his engine screaming and the way his tyres screeched I doubt he has any tread left 🤦‍♀️ Both were white people.
We had riots here on Sunday night so maybe he attended those? It upset me so much, I’m sick of all the hate we have in this world 😢

There have been anti immigration riots all over Europe this year. I wouldn't be scared of them. They are usually young teenage lads who just have big mouths.
