Let’s discuss an extremely boring topic, just regular and recycle.

Regular Bin: Green
Recycling Bin: Brown

OP posts:
TragoCardboardCopper · 05/08/2024 09:52

General waste - none (whatever you choose to buy or just put the bag out)

Garden waste - brown

Glass - black tub

Rest of recycling is reuseable sacks:

Cardboard - orange

Paper - blue

Plastic and metal - red

We're about to have a change and will get a black bin for general waste and a grey one for food waste. All the bags will remain. So we will have a total of 7 bins! SEVEN!

Regular bin is a colour not yet mentioned on this thread (& pretty famous.... it's how I know I'm home 😂)
Recycling is blue.
Garden stuff is green.

Purple?

PianPianPiano · 05/08/2024 09:55

Regular - black
Recycling - we'll we don't just have one, so not sure how to follow your "simple" instructions.. - black boxes, blue bag, green bin, green small bin, depending on what is being recycled.

treedwell · 05/08/2024 09:58

Regular green, recycling blue, it’s a black one with a blue lid, but the council call it blue bin.

reabies · 05/08/2024 10:25

Regular - Purple (but we are not in Liverpool)
Recycling - Black (pisses me off, black is clearly a general waste bin colour) all card, paper, metal and glass goes in here.
Garden waste - Brown
Food - Small brown caddy.

Bins are DH's domain, he knows what's going out when and how it all changes on a bank holiday. I think most of them are on a fortnightly cycle except the food caddy.

Hi fellow Cornwall resident. 👋 (Like the user name)
We've moved over to new bins a while ago and it works well for us. But yes there are a lot of bins and bags now.

sashh · 05/08/2024 10:37

General waste - brown
Recycling - black - they were actually the general waste large bins when we had to sort recycling.
Coffee pods - a green bag

Whatevershallidowithmylife · 05/08/2024 10:39

Paper/card - blue on 2 week cycle
Plastic/metal - grey on 2 week cycle
Glass- purple on 12 week cycle

5 bins! My front garden is just bins!

honestanswers · 05/08/2024 16:06

Regular - Black
Recycling - Green

PermanentlyFullLaundryBasket · 05/08/2024 16:15

Green = landfill
Blue = recyclables
Brown = garden waste
Black (small) = food waste
Blue bags = soft plastics, collected with recyclables
No kerbside glass collection = accumulates in plastic boxes until I feel ashamed of the number of empties and go to the bottle bank...

farmergirl15 · 05/08/2024 16:25

Grey general waste
Blue cardboard
Brown tins
Green garden

Fellow scouser!

Ponderingwindow · 05/08/2024 16:29

General: black with a red lid
recycling: black with a blue lid
garden: large paper bags or tied with compostable twine

(really glad they use this method because the garden waste stinks due to the heat here and the more air it gets the less awful it is, plastic bins would be a disgusting)

Blushingm · 05/08/2024 16:40

Glass - brown
Paper - white
Cardboard - orange
Food - green
General recycling - blue
General waste - black
Garden - green (but pay a subscription)

Blushingm · 05/08/2024 16:41

And black are collected 3 weekly, everything else is weekly

Blushingm · 05/08/2024 16:42

With a black limit of 3 black bin bags per collection we don't have wheelie bins

Iwant2beJessicaFletcher · 05/08/2024 17:03

Regular- black
Recycling - green
Garden waste - brown

GameOfJones · 05/08/2024 17:06

SedentaryCat · 04/08/2024 22:09

Black (council call it grey) for general waste.
Green for mixed recycling.
Brown for garden waste - pay extra for this.
Green food waste bin.

Food waste collected every week. Black and green alternate weeks. Brown bin with green bin.

Ours is exactly the same

FloofyKat · 05/08/2024 17:07

Landfill bin = black
Glass, foil, plastic etc bin = green
Garden waste bin = brown and you pay for it
Paper and cardboard = shallow, open topped bin (great in the rain, not) = green
Food waste = grey

sanityisamyth · 05/08/2024 17:07

We have green plastic bags for all our recycling. Black bins for landfill, green bins for garden and brown bins for food. About to switch to red and green bags instead of green bags for separated recycling.

Saschka · 05/08/2024 17:09

Is the green bin the recycling bin? No, that’s the blue one

Is the green bin the garden waste bin? No that’s the brown one

Is the green bin just for normal rubbish? Yep apparently so.

Southwark, your bin colours are stupid
