Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa, as always. The kittens are having a crazy half hour after breakfast, & no-one else is up yet.

We don't have much planned for the day today. I want to get out in the front garden & finish cutting back the brambles - they take over everything & do my head in (I didn't plant them!). & I'll empty the wash basket as I'm away for a couple of days but the girls will be here filling it up. I'll show them how to work the new washer before going but don't think they'll need ir.

Dd2 text me at some point in the night saying she was struggling to sleep & leave her in bed please, so I will. And dd1 worked yesterday so probably won't surface for a while either 🤷‍♀️

Not sure what's for tea yet 🤔 but afterwards it'll be showers all round & chill before bed. I have a couple of pairs of trousers to hem, so I'll do them.

What about all of you? 🌞

Just lying on the sofa all day for me. Tested positive yesterday so feel like shit.

Enjoy your day x

FlorencenotRatchet · 04/08/2024 09:59

Morning @lucysmam and all happy Sunday.
I need to collect a parcel then will nip to the supermarket for some shopping.
I'm meeting a friend for a games afternoon.
I started a puzzle yesterday which is already challenging me so may try to do a bit more while watching the Olympics tonight.
Enjoy your day everyone.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 04/08/2024 10:02

Good morning @Lucysmam and others. I have encroaching brambles too from the garden at the back of mine. She had a cheek to ask me to get hedges cut the day I moved in six years ago and her garden is seriously overgrown! The hedges have been cut three times since then and will be done again but she does nothing about the brambles. Grr.
I've been to Aldi for food and put a washing on. I don't think it'll be hung out as the weather doesn't look promising. In a while I'll get lentil soup going in the slow cooker, make a chicken pie and roast beetroot for pickling. A day in my kitchen beckons! Later I'll visit mum. Enjoy your day.

lifeisafunnyoldgame · 04/08/2024 10:04

I’ll do what I said I was going to do yesterday 🙈.

Peridot1 · 04/08/2024 10:05

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone

Usual lazy morning this morning. On third cup of tea and have had some toast too. DH is up and in study as usual. DS still in bed. Dog snoring in hall.

I didn’t do much yesterday as was shattered so need to do a few jobs today. My best friend is coming to stay in two weeks and I want to get things done before then and we are having stuff done in the house so stuff is everywhere. Joiner was supposed to finish wardrobes in DS’s room yesterday but cancelled. A bit annoying.

So today I am clearing out and cleaning the fridge which I was supposed to do yesterday. Maybe some ironing. Or cleaning a couple of outside chairs.

Baked ham for dinner.

Simonjt · 04/08/2024 10:06

Good morning,

I’ve packed the car and the little trailer we’ve borrowed for our camping trip so we don’t have to do it later.

Our son has a rugby match today so I’ll be taking him to that soon, after that we’re probably going to go to a little petting zoo/farm.

Nothing planned for the eveninf beyond laziness.

CoffeandTiaMaria · 04/08/2024 10:06

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, a quiet day here, it was sunny but it’s clouded over.
Dh and I spent a while first thing yanking the overgrown irises out of our small pond, and I chopped back the water hyacinths that have outgrown their welcome - I discovered a water lily that had been totally smothered by them.
It’s looking much better, DH cleaned out the pump, the pond’s been topped up and a natural treatment for the sludge added.
There’s a load of washing on the line, the dw is running and in a bit I will go and top up the bird feeders - the spotted woodpeckers are sitting on the shed roof waiting.
Coq au vin (from M&S), new potatoes, homegrown runner beans for dinner 😋
Nothing much planned, I’ve finished my crochet throw, I might start another.

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 10:08

🤣 @lifeisafunnyoldgame I have those kind of days too!

I'm going to move in a minute to get my tablets down - no doubt the kittens will hear the rattle & come see what they're missing out on. Then a quick tidy round & get dressed for the garden.

Currently trying to plan what we'll be eating this week and then I'll go do the food shop.
DS has a friend round and they're playing loudly which isn't helping me think!
DD just woke up, though I tried to wake her 2 hours ago.
Need to decide what I'm going to take for my lunch tomorrow and get it ready tonight so I don't have to stress about that in the morning.

lifeisafunnyoldgame · 04/08/2024 10:12

@lucysmam hoping once I start in the garden I will do a little more than planned yesterday.

I did do one of yesterdays tasks so not a complete fail 😂.

DD is still in bed but she wants me to wake her up before 11 so she can get some revision done, no doubt she will want a curry for tea so I best take the chicken out of the freezer before it’s too late.

OldTinHat · 04/08/2024 10:16

Happy Sunday @lucysmam and everyone!

I was up quite late last night watching bats whizzing around my garden. I first spotted the a couple of nights ago and now I'm hooked watching them.

I'm waiting to see if the builder will turn up (again, sigh). In the meantime, I'm making resin coasters for a local charity. It's sticky work 😅

Have a lovely day all!

troppibambini6 · 04/08/2024 10:21

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone else.

I've been up early this morning dropping ds at a mock exam. I'm packing for our holiday tomorrow and need to go and get some suncream and toiletries. Hoping to do the twilight bag drop tonight so I'm up against it as not really started and there are six of us GrinAlthough dh and the teens will do themselves.
Need to drop the dogs with their sitter tonight which they will be delighted with as they adore her dog.

Will also try and see my mum and tidy the house for the burglars!

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 10:25

@OldTinHat could we see your coasters?

I need a new crafty project - nothing has me hooked atm! We have bought Gracie Abrams tickets for next year though so plan to make more bracelets for that & use up some more of our Taylor beads.

My dts are away for the week. They're camping with a club they go to.
I'm drinking coffee on the patio.
Bike ride an picnic with dp then maybe cook a roast together depending on how hot it gets

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 10:28

@troppibambini6 what exam is it? Dd1 wants to do the LNAT for her uni applications so we need to book that today.

Good morning all,
we’ve had our lovely granddaughter (2) for the weekend as her mummy and daddy went to a wedding. We love having her here. All big fans of Kiri and Lou ! Her parents are coming to pick her up later and we are all going to enjoy a big roast dinner.

Greengras · 04/08/2024 10:33

Good morning.

We’ve had a very busy couple of weeks with camping trips, visiting family, hosting family here and were out all day yesterday, so are very pleased to be having a chilled day at home today! I’ll be doing a couple of loads of washing and watching the olympics. Maybe try and read my book when the baby naps. Kids doing Lego and playing in the garden. Roast chicken for dinner with some nice bread rolls, salad, potatoes etc.

Hoglet70 · 04/08/2024 10:34

I'm sat in bed eating biscuits and watching The Olympics. I may walk the dogs later but that's it.

RabbitsRock · 04/08/2024 10:36

lucysmam was there a massive rush for Gracie Abram’s tickets? DD15 likes her & has mentioned that she’s touring. Is it next year?

Onlyjams · 04/08/2024 10:40

Still in bed. I have no one to see, nothing to do and nowhere to go so I don't see any point in getting up for the day.

RabbitsRock · 04/08/2024 10:42

Onlyjams so sorry to read this.

troppibambini6 · 04/08/2024 10:43

@lucysmam it's a mock for 11+. My daughter has just finished her first year of a law degree. Although non of the unis she applied to did the Lnat. Where is she hoping for?

Onlyjams · 04/08/2024 10:44

RabbitsRock · 04/08/2024 10:42

Onlyjams so sorry to read this.

Don't be, it's normal. Sundays are everyone's family days so I'm easily forgotten. I see it as a chance to do nothing and rest.

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 10:48

@RabbitsRock no, I spent days deciding whether I actually like her enough to see her live (dd1 would have gone either way, plus I don't really want her on her own in Leeds on a night coming home), & we easily bought tickets for standing in Leeds. We paid just shy of £120 for both & may add one for dd2 later on if they're still available. We go next March - I'm not sure what dates there were though.

@Onlyjams is there something you fancy doing?

@troppibambini6 Newcastle, Durham, and Kings. Durham & Kings ask for it I think. Where's your dd studying?
