Good Morning Everyone! What's everyone up to today?

I'm in my kitchen spot, with my first cuppa, as always. The kittens are having a crazy half hour after breakfast, & no-one else is up yet.

We don't have much planned for the day today. I want to get out in the front garden & finish cutting back the brambles - they take over everything & do my head in (I didn't plant them!). & I'll empty the wash basket as I'm away for a couple of days but the girls will be here filling it up. I'll show them how to work the new washer before going but don't think they'll need ir.

Dd2 text me at some point in the night saying she was struggling to sleep & leave her in bed please, so I will. And dd1 worked yesterday so probably won't surface for a while either 🤷‍♀️

Not sure what's for tea yet 🤔 but afterwards it'll be showers all round & chill before bed. I have a couple of pairs of trousers to hem, so I'll do them.

What about all of you? 🌞

Good morning all - favourite thread of the week! I’m still in bed but about to get dressed & sort the kitchen ( the surfaces didn’t get done yesterday & the dishwasher needs unloading/loading). Huge amount of washing to put away & a load to hang out. Luckily tea is very easy - chicken breast for DH & a salmon fillet for me both cooked in foil with new potatoes & broccoli. Visiting DF & DM this afternoon as DM recently came out of hospital. I need to try on some dresses & a pair of combat trousers that arrived earlier in the week plus still have to photograph stuff for Vinted. I had my first experience of an Inpost locker last week. Quite exciting! I need to get out more 🤣🤣

Morning all.
I have just had my eyebrows waxed for the first (and last!) time. I'm all red, and my eyelids keep getting sort of stuck on the area just above...
Out for lunch today, so really hoping they calm down soon.
I have brambles, too. They are growing in the middle of a spiky bush, but I have a long lopper, so think it will work. That will be this afternoon's job.

Do you have access to anything cool? Or some aloe Vera gel?

Lazy morning, everyone still in bed, just me up since 9 getting the roast sorted for later in the day, have pancakes made for when they do arise, so sitting with a quiet coffee (& the cat!) Mumsnetting. We have a weather warning for rain and wind today so could be a day spent lazing. Although a walk later on would be nice.

gardenmusic · 04/08/2024 11:11

Onlyjams, Thank you.
I have swiped and wiped with rosewater, and have put an ice cube on for a few moments, and I can see a little improvement. I have an hour, so I'm hopeful!

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 11:26

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one with brambles that have a mind of their own. They're so annoying. My friend gave me some weed killer her dad thinks will kill them off but I've never got round to buying a watering can so not sure what to mix it up in 🙄

Morning @lucysmam and everyone,
My favourite thread too 😊✨
About to get up after a lovely, slow morning in bed with tea, newspaper, diary and yogurt with strawberries and grapes 🍇
Will be decluttering the office today, cleaning the dining and living room and setting a new candle in large candle jar that I bought last week for the centre of the dining table. Will light that later and enjoy DH’s steaks with frites, salad and coleslaw.
Enjoy your Sunday everyone!

gardenmusic · 04/08/2024 11:34

I might have a skim through some clothing websites later. The autumnal bits are beginning to appear.
Need to bring the washing in off the line, it's looking a bit dull, now.

Knackeredmommy · 04/08/2024 11:53

Good morning,
Helping DD pack for a residential summer trip tomorrow, the athletics is on and will cook lamb shanks for dinner later. Have a shop coming early evening.

ssd · 04/08/2024 12:07

Morning ish....I'm in bed still with a sore head

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 12:13

I hope it's not too bad @ssd !

Afternoon! I’ve been sewing this morning. I’ve reacquainted myself with my overlocker and cut out fabric for 12 cushion covers and overlocked it. Spent ages thinking about which way round my fabric needed to be for a successful invisible zip 😂, honestly, I used to be able to do all this stuff but haven’t made anything since before COVID.

Two down, just on the round ends of a bolster.

Also listening to my audiobook, which is 18 hours long and nearly finished, can’t wait as I’m enjoying it and want to hear the next one.

Need to tidy up in a bit and go food shopping before picking DC up from work later on.

Royalshyness · 04/08/2024 12:50

We are away for the weekend so went to the beach yesterday and we did a bit of shopping this morning and also bought birthday cake 😋🎂

out for a meal later and will come back to watch the Olympics

Thanks @lucysmam ..I went for a shower and feel better nowSmile. How are you keeping now x

troppibambini6 · 04/08/2024 13:01

@lucysmam she's at Sheffield. She looked at Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield Newcastle and Liverpool. She was very definite she wanted a Northern city!

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 13:16

@ssd I'm really well (apart from the cancer 🙄). If it weren't for the stupid, fuzzy, hair, you'd never know!

@troppibambini6 dd's discounted Sheffield as it's on our doorstep. Although our favourite indie music venue is there! She's looked at Manchester & Liverpool too.

lifeisafunnyoldgame · 04/08/2024 14:03

@lucysmam and @troppibambini6 DD really wants to go to Bath, and us move too as she loves the university and area there but doesn’t want to move out! She will likely go to University of Manchester or MMU as it’s one bus ride from here. She wouldn’t cope being away from home.

Some rubbish has been got rid of, the new but old trampoline has been pulled out from behind the shed, I will find a scrap metal collector to take it.

Will nip to Costco, although it will likely be an hour out if the house, but DH has suggested he may cut down some of next doors overgrown brambles that have come over the fence.

I did disinfect the bin yesterday, seems the smell was someone putting their dog shit in it, I’m assuming on bin day, so I will throw a bucket of bleach water in it I think.

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 14:29

@lifeisafunnyoldgame dd did look at Uni of Law in Leeds but wasn't that impressed.

You've been productive! I've been busy too - the front's clear of brambles...mini trees cut down again 🙄 wood piled to burn out the back. Just need to rake up the odd bits & I'm done out front 😊

Just arrived home from a lovely 10 days on the SE coast. Weather was epic, we were very lucky.

Waiting for shopping to arrive, attacking the giant heap of washing and the kids are all plugged into devices after a hiatus 😫

DP has popped out to see his parents and take them a bottle of something for feeding our cats.

I'm working tomorrow and kids are off to a summer play centre for a few hours to check it out so I need to do packed lunches. After a week + of eating out / having fish & chips on the sea front / picky dinners we're all desperate for veggies so I'll do a chicken stir-fry for dinner.

Early night all round as we're all shattered.

DilemmaDelilah · 04/08/2024 14:40

Hello @lucysmam . I've had a busy weekend, for me. Getting the house tidy (DH did most of it) and cooking for a birthday celebration yesterday. Sugared pork, and coffee cake. I didn't feel very well so went to bed about 5pm and DH brought me something to eat around 8.30pm. I had a good night's sleep and spent this morning making salad etc. for birthday lunch today, then everybody came over to eat. We had the sugared pork - pulled, with home made coleslaw, salad and potato wedges and it went down a treat! Followed by the birthday cake. Coffee cake with chocolate button decoration was requested - this is for a 41-yr-old man! They have just left and I'm about to go for a nap. We can deal with the washing up later.

Our evening meal will be leftovers... I sent family home with some, but made sure we kept back a little for us - and some cake!

I hope you have had a lovely peaceful day.

ssd · 04/08/2024 14:42

I'm glad to hear you're doing well @lucysmam . Don't worry about the hair, I'm sure everyone is just glad to see you managing everything so well.

SecretWitch · 04/08/2024 15:00

Good Sunday to everyone!

It's 10 am in my part of the US. I'm on day two of a UTI and feel miserable. I spent yesterday in bed but don't want to do that today ( might move to the couch!😂) Currently drinking tea and watching Breaking Bad with my partner

lucysmam · 04/08/2024 15:47

@DilemmaDelilah what is sugared pork? Sounds interesting!

Thanks @ssd , the hair drives me nuts 🤣 dd1 quite often bops me on the head to see if it's still bouncy 🙄. I'm trying to just style it out & God help anyone who stares more than I'm comfortable with...two older ladies dropped their conversation for a stare, outside a pub, the other day. I'll quite happily play "who blinks first" cos I'm a bit of a dick if I catch anyone at it 🙈 or very loudly comment on how rude it is 🤷‍♀️

Aw @SecretWitch that's rubbish. Hopefully it clears up quickly! I enjoyed Breaking Bad.

@Crunchymum I do not envy your washing pile! My basket is almost empty so I don't need the girls to do any but both will if they see its full.

Laundry is my favourite chore (I know, I'm mad!) so I love coming home from being away 😂
