@mibbelucieachwell : I think the claims of "two tier policing" are mostly coming from right wing agitators who allege the police took/take a "softly softly" approach to dealing with the Gaza protests and the disturbances in Hartlepool because there were minorities and refugees involved and that no one was arrested (don't let the facts get in the way of a good conspiracy theory 
), while the police are taking a hard line with the current thugs protesors who have come out to cause trouble since the Southport tragedy.
Starmer is talking about establishing a "national capability" across police forces to tackle violent disorder following the Southport stabbing tragedy, which is supposedly further evidence of "two tier policing" 
There's a lot of "what aboutery" going on 
It can be seen in some of the current threads on MN which are a lot more toxic than this one. I've reported post(s) for making inflammatory false statements and I know that others who post here have also done their best to report some of the more toxic posted on those threads but it's like playing "whack-a-mole" I never used to report threads and would just leave/hide the thread but MN's lack of active moderation means that it is up to us to report dangerous misinformation. There are at best some ignorant posters who are being manipulated and at worst trolls and bad faith posters who actively spread misinformation for nefarious purposes.
