Today's protests

Is your city/town affected by the protests today? I'm concerned by them and wondering if I should participate in a counter-protest.
But the other part of me feels that this will all descend in to male violence on both sides and I should stay clear.

I don't understand this. If these thugs are attacking people for their skin colour in your community, like they did last night - isn't it a good thing to come out against that? Like in Liverpool. It stopped any violence.

Bit that is clearly ridiculous, his name tells you he is not Muslim, his neighbours have described him as a choir boy...it's just so obvious that these thugs just want to use any excuse for violence and racism.

My thoughts exactly my mixed arab kids out in the world with this hate around makes me sick.

The definition of protest needs to be refined.
This is not protesting, it is organised vandalism and violence without a purpose.

Police officers should not have to tolerate such brutality.

I really don't get what they are rioting about.

I'm on the border of Chester/North Wales, and I believe the closest protests to me are Wrexham and Liverpool.

I don't think they do either.

Last night was just one place.

We are talking about a very small, tiny percentage of men that seem to be moving around the country causing trouble - and not a nationwide movement of any kind.

Yes @Hummingbird75 correct so far. How much trouble have "Just Stop Oil" caused?
They have a small number of activists who can cause mayhem on Motorways and other places. They have supporters, some on Mumsnet.
There is a comparison to be made, we mustn't pull the blankets over ourselves and hope it goes away. It, whatever "IT" is has been simmering since before Brexit. Then it was the EU telling us how to live.
We need politicians to listen and allay our fears.
