Today's protests

Is your city/town affected by the protests today? I'm concerned by them and wondering if I should participate in a counter-protest.
But the other part of me feels that this will all descend in to male violence on both sides and I should stay clear.

There's no point. Speak up another day. Don't counterprotest at the same time. It will just rile them up more and the police will have a hard enough time

I don't understand this. If these thugs are attacking people for their skin colour in your community, like they did last night - isn't it a good thing to come out against that? Like in Liverpool. It stopped any violence.

The idea of "Hope not Hate" encouraging counter protests is just inviting a pitched battle.
Ordinary people against ordinary people with a few activists at the core organising.
Will that really improve the world?

It prevented violence in Liverpool last night.

lollipoprainbow · 03/08/2024 10:05

"Hope not hate" what hope?

There are idiots saying there is information being covered up about the killer. I will not repeat the speculation, but I am sure you can guess what that information is supposed to be. It's being parroted on MN too.

Edited

Bit that is clearly ridiculous, his name tells you he is not Muslim, his neighbours have described him as a choir boy...it's just so obvious that these thugs just want to use any excuse for violence and racism.

Where can you find out where they are? My black dc are going to the cinema today to see Deadpool.

My thoughts exactly my mixed arab kids out in the world with this hate around makes me sick.

Hummingbird75 · 03/08/2024 10:15

The definition of protest needs to be refined.
This is not protesting, it is organised vandalism and violence without a purpose.

Police officers should not have to tolerate such brutality.

Samcro · 03/08/2024 10:22

I really don't get what they are rioting about.

Ihateboris · 03/08/2024 10:24

I'm on the border of Chester/North Wales, and I believe the closest protests to me are Wrexham and Liverpool.

I don't think they do either.

Summerflames · 03/08/2024 10:33

Onehotday · 03/08/2024 08:58

I fail to see how that's relevant

Are you being deliberately obtuse? Fuck sake!

@absquatulize what cause

Exactly...

Samcro · 03/08/2024 10:34

glad it not just me.

Summerflames · 03/08/2024 10:40

I'll post pics of where planned riots are so people can avoid them. Take care this weekend, there's knobheads everywhere.

I doubt it will amount to much.
Last night was just one place.

We are talking about a very small, tiny percentage of men that seem to be moving around the country causing trouble - and not a nationwide movement of any kind.

Weymouth??? Wow nothing says "PrOtEcT ArE KiDs" more than terrorising them whilst they are on holiday at the seaside. Fucking shameful.

Summerflames · 03/08/2024 10:54

Think @absquatulize is being tongue in cheek, in reference to @onehotday vague comment on "the cause".

Hewlet · 03/08/2024 10:56

Ahh..! Apologies.

Yes @Hummingbird75 correct so far. How much trouble have "Just Stop Oil" caused?
They have a small number of activists who can cause mayhem on Motorways and other places. They have supporters, some on Mumsnet.
There is a comparison to be made, we mustn't pull the blankets over ourselves and hope it goes away. It, whatever "IT" is has been simmering since before Brexit. Then it was the EU telling us how to live.
We need politicians to listen and allay our fears.

Have we established yet whether JSO have thrown bricks at the police?

I don't understand what you're trying to say here.
