Today's protests

Is your city/town affected by the protests today? I'm concerned by them and wondering if I should participate in a counter-protest.
But the other part of me feels that this will all descend in to male violence on both sides and I should stay clear.

It's worse than pointless, it's just inciting further thuggery

It's pointless
It boosts the rioters ego
It can extend the trouble

Go about your day as normal but be aware for people who might be feeling afraid today

I've read there is a protest and counter protest planned here.
I'm mixed but present as PoC, and I'm afraid I'm avoiding the city centre, even though I want to add my number to the peaceful counter protest. I'm so angry about women and girls being targeted, let alone racists trying to weld this to their benefit.
Shamefully, today my fear of possibly being attacked is greater.

Thank you to those who are able to stand there to bear the brunt of the hatred, to help destroy their perception they are unchallenged and united. Seeing that brave woman in Southport alone in the middle of the mob made me cry, I wish she was on MN to receive my thanks.

A counter petition could be a start? If I had my way I'd swap all of these racist thugs with the immigrants, let them experience Afghanistan etc

Personally I think its best if we just ignore them completely today. Then counter protest on a day they arent

If I lived near a mosque that was being targeted I'd consider joining a protective ring of locals.

As it is - DH is on blood thinners, a brick could easily kill him so we'll be staying clear.

There is something going on in my town today. Not sure what it is but see there is counter protests being set up too. I'm not happy about them. I don't want coach load of EDL supporters turning up and smashing up our town. I don't know why the locals would decide to arrange these protests now. Not a good time as they mostly seem to get violent.

One planned today in the town I live in. I work with asylum seeker families and the protest will be taking place right by where they are housed. Can't imagine that is coincidence.
Am worried it will all end like last night's protests.

People might turn up to a pre-planned riot to riot. I am sure that wont happen.

Yes, they aren't going now. Someone else in the group had already made that decision before my two had made it down the stairs.
