I'm quite sorry the armed police didn't shoot him dead to be honest.

They should have done. It would have saved tax payers a lot of money and stopped the money grabbing defence lawyers from profiting from this tragedy.

samarrange · 30/07/2024 19:21

Bringing back capital punishment might very well make it harder to convict murderers. Juries would apply a higher standard of evidence, and a lot of people would probably vote Not Guilty just on the basis of their objection to the death penalty. And any other country in Europe, including Ireland, will refuse to extradite anyone who is facing the possibility of the death penalty.

What the guy who helped and potentially saved lives?? Yes how awful of him.

I said no doubt his intentions were good I'm talking about his manner when giving an interview. The detail, his animated facial expressions. Good for going into the building and helping people but in the aftermath people really should think how they come across being interviewed. Others witnesses were understandably subdued, struggling to talk about what they saw. Not this guy.

If he does get the usual rap on the knuckles and released no doubt we will have to bear the never-ending cost of name changes to protect him. Who protects their victims?

When you say the "usual rap on the knuckles", which other cases do you mean?

There has already been a thread deleted on this devastating subject

Can everyone please just respect the poor children and their families

ilovesushi · 30/07/2024 19:26

Unbearably sad. Those poor poor girls and their families. It is incomprehensible the horror and grief they must be feeling. There are some activities where you might drop your children off with a twinge of worry or apprehension, but a summer holiday dance workshop presumably with teachers they knew and loved in a venue they were completely familiar with. You just wouldn't think to worry. I just don't know how they will bear it. I remember that little girl who died at the Ariana Grande concert - another innocent little girl, just enjoying her life, loved by her family. I don't know what can be done. How can anyone want to commit violence against children. It is just beyond comprehension.

People handle shock in different ways. Most people are praising this guy but you know someone is always going to have something negative to say.

Have either of you thought that perhaps the families may want to see him face justice? To maybe get some answers in court?

golf7 · 30/07/2024 19:35

Reading with interest. I commented on a thread yesterday which was subsequently pulled .

I commented extensively on the Nottingham thread after the perpetrator was sentenced. I recognise a few usernames from that.

Firstly I am a mother myself and its utterly devastating what took place yesterday. The effects of this will be far reaching for years to come. The victims their parents siblings and wider family. The medical staff who have treated them . The witnesses. The emergency services. Even down the the undertakers who will take the victims and look after them in death. Don't forget the other victims who if they survive will face a lifetimes ordeal to try and semi recover from this. Let's also not forget the perpetrators family and loved ones. They are in no way to blame and in all likelihood couldn't have foreseen what he would do or have prevented it. They have to live with 'losing' the person they thought they knew. They will never be able to go home or return to that community. They will be feeling so many difficult conflicting emotions and will largely be forgotten about due to his actions. I have sons .. many of you have sons. Imagine that being our son or brother. I can't even get my head round it

AlwaysGinPlease · 30/07/2024 19:36

The thought of some lowlife scum bag snuffing out the lives of poor little defenceless girls just wanting to have a few hours of fun and a bunch of hand wringing do-gooders falling over themselves to make excuses for him makes me feel sick.

Absolutely this.

Yes, let him have his time in court, face justice and then I feel for cases like this, if convicted, the murderer should be put to death by the state.

he was full of adrenaline, that is how adrenaline affects you. You would have been the same. I have been the same after seeing someone knifed to death and getting children away from the scene

What… the murderer should be murdered? Is that what you’re saying?

Technically the death penalty isn’t murder since murder only refers to the unlawful taking of human life.

Murder is a crime that is committed against the law. State execution of a convicted murderer isn’t.

In fairness, as the perpetrator is a ‘boy’, his parents must shoulder some of the responsibility for this. They gave him his values after all.

Nah. I don't have any for utter morons who delight in frothing about deaths, while simultaneously slavering for executions.

Wanting appropriate justice is hardly a fetish. This man killed 3 little girls all under the age of 10. He took 3 innocent lives. Why should he get to continue living and why should the tax payer fund his existence?

Gen888 · 30/07/2024 19:47

Gosh, devastated to hear the news.😔 Always picking the young and innocent. I have read they are doing fundraising around the country. They can't name the guy because he is under 18. I think sooner or later they will reveal his identity, because for the crime he has committed.
