As someone who has worked and volunteered with children for many years I too have no words.

I do think that when the dust settled perhaps stronger security may need to be put in place for many settings, schools and nurseries are now largely inaccessible for these type of attacks and these disturbed individuals may look for other opportunities. I help run a mum and baby group and we never lock the door 😔

There is nothing I can find to say that wouldn't sound trite. Gut wrenching awful.

Horrendous news coming from Southport today. My DD falls right in that age range 😔. Those poor children and their families. My every thought is with all those touched by these heinous acts. I wish I knew what the answer was.

I used to help out at a summer school and checks were definitely put in place. It was a Methodist church setting so post Victoria Clymbie. The door was always locked.

That thread is just as disgusting as the ones pulled. They don't care about the victims and their families. They are just desperate to be able to blame a Muslim.

A thread asking for better action on the clear descent of the Far Right onto MN already has the whatabouters .

I read the news late last night. The majority of MN posts I read were expressing very natural shock & horror. It truly is most parents worst nightmare.

But it didn't seem to take long for threads to disintegrate into sharing falsehoods and misinformation. I logged off.
It doesn't seem much better now.

Sadly another little girl aged 9 has died.

Where is the compassion for the victims from these racist far right posters? They just see this as more fuel for their never ending culture wars. I heard a vicar from Southport say he had overheard a man only two streets away from this tragic incident framing it in this way and that he thought this was something different to the past.

I have heard there are two demonstrations planned tonight, where is the respect? 😔
