Badenoch

“We lost the last election because we ended up trying to please everybody,” she says. “A lot of the legislation we had in the last parliament – so much of it was on animal welfare, banning puppy farming, debating the sentience of crustaceans. That’s all well and good – but it’s not what we are sent to parliament to do.

"We lost the last election because we were too kind to puppies. A serious government would stamp on them while sticking one to the Cultural Establishment"

I'm getting Cruella de Vil vibes

This is a thing of beauty.

It’s a bit out of date as it talks about it being only 4 years ago, but it’s very relevant. And also nicely shows how long this has been brewing (and under which government).

Blair did get a shout out. And I’ve reported someone for saying the Southport murders were ‘in the name of Islam’. Ffs.

Yeah, I reported that one too I think.

One thing I would say about these Tories - they don’t hide who they are, do they.

They carry their turpitude with pride.

Badenoch is incredibly proud of it. I really hope she wins the leadership race, she’ll make the nasty party of Theresa May’s day look like Father Christmas.

She’ll outFarage Farage. Then they just diminish each other whilst the grown ups run the country.

Liz Truss goes completely unrecognised stood next to James Hay in an interview at the races. Hay's wife Fitriani was the largest single donor to Truss' Tory leadership campaign in 2022.

Watch to the end when pundits finally recognise Liz Truss, and absolutely rinse her x

Nearly on page 40 of the thread. Not sure I dare post again after nicking the last slot and stopping @DuncinToffee from being able to start a new thread and get a link to it on the old one!

Starmer: Four Weeks In, It's All His Fault Now.

RobinStrike · 03/08/2024 11:49

Where have the opposition gone? Sunak is still leader and we have 6 contenders. Why aren't any of them, or Ed Davey or Carla Denyer or any of the Greens not come out in support of Starmer, making it clear that attacking police, looting shops and setting fire to cars and buildings is not democratic protest? It's as if Labour in opposition had integrity and supported the government on difficult issues and the Tories don't understand what's expected of them.

Very good point. I think Cleverly has said something.

How about Starmer - four whole weeks and still no miracles.

Zonder · 03/08/2024 12:04

To be fair Ed Davey did make a comment.

From reading the press, the only "opposition" appears to be Farage. Presumably grubbing for as much newspaper coverage as possible to show his best mates in the US that he really is a thing.

Nanas Against Nazis. A tribute to Liverpool and all others who recognize the thugs for what they are.

RafaistheKingofClay · 03/08/2024 13:03

I can’t imagine the current iteration of the Tory party saying anything useful that won’t fan the flames of hate. I think I’d rather they shut up and didn’t say anything at all.

DuncinToffee · 03/08/2024 13:51

No sign of troubles at the 'protests' in Manchester and Portsmouth and Hull is under control, fingers crossed it stays like that

OP posts:
itsgettingweird · 03/08/2024 13:59

The Portsmouth one lasted about an hour! People from both sides but no trouble.

Let's hope they haven't all gone off to the pub as weather is shit and come out again later

Must say that when the EDL used to march here regularly about 10 years ago that's unfortunately exactly how they rounded off their visit to the seaside - drunken mobs in town in the evening

I hope so! Hull is currently hosting the British Chess Championships, right where these idiots were protesting.
Some competitors are probably using the hotel as it's nearby.
