@RobinStrike thank you. He hasn’t got shutters and the worry is windows getting smashed, no advice from the police either. I think at least sending a PCSO round local businesses would have been helpful.

I was living in London during the 2011 riots. Our local shopkeepers got together to guard their shops. You would not mess with some of them!

@IClaudine the shopkeepers who would normally help if there was trouble are Asian, I would imagine they will shut their shop and stay away.

It's so bloody enraging that people are in fear. I want to dosomething! But I don't think I am brave enough to go out and counter protest. My younger self would have been up for it!

Thank you everyone, part of the problem is that there is a counter protest, the shop is between the two and if they break the police line they may well go after the counter protestors.

Maybe counter protesting is not a good idea and makes things worse.

Oh shit. A helicopter went over me earlier. In fairness, living just off the barrage, that’s not massively unusual.

I think counter protesting is really important, but maybe a different weekend would be better. You could still show your opposition to racism, but less likelihood of things getting out of hand or overcoming police resource.

I am not sure it would work though as the knuckle draggers would probably just organise another get together just because there was an anti racism march.

There’s definitely a counter protest in Cardiff tomorrow, outside the Senedd. Stand Up To Racism organising. I’m off in Newport playing in an orchestra all day, which is probably just as well.
