Ah. On the Sunderland riot thread someone has posted a long screed explaing why the riots are...wait for it...

Starmer's fault!

Edited

I was expecting Tony Blair or the Wilson government to be blamed.

BIWI · 03/08/2024 08:38

We're going to a matinée theatre performance in Central London today. Where there are two protests. One is a Palestinian march, and the other is being called a 'static demonstration' by 'campaign group' "Enough is Enough" on the same route. Now why would they want to do that I wonder?

I don't know what time they're supposed to be starting, but they have to be finished by 4.30. We're staying up in town to go out for dinner after the theatre, so I'm obviously hoping that we'll not see/get caught up in any of it. We'll be in Soho so it shouldn't be a problem for us - hopefully.

Efacsen · 03/08/2024 08:39

Priti Patel also blaming the government - wants Parliament re-called

DrRiverSong · 03/08/2024 08:46

10+ years of anti immigration rhetoric from our Tory government which also hasn’t tamped down the more extreme stuff from Farage et al and that is Starmer’s fault. Riiiiiiiiiggghhhtttt

bombastix · 03/08/2024 08:50

The Telegraph interview with Kemi Badenoch is just extraordinary. She really is marmite.

Oh Blair is mentioned too.

BIWI · 03/08/2024 08:58

Comparing Badenoch to Marmite is definitely unfair on Marmite!

bombastix · 03/08/2024 09:01

I don’t think she will win actually. I’m sure someone told her this was good timing! My god.

Robert Jenrick is doing a much better job than her. He’s making comments as if he were leader!

Of course painting over murals at children's immigration centres does not signal to the hard of thinking that is ok to dehumanize and attack migrants.

Blair’s been blamed too. I’m expecting Attlee to come in for some stick soon.

prettybird · 03/08/2024 09:15

Ds' thinking re Badenoch is that she would've won if it were a short campaign but the long campaign means that she will have time to shoot herself in the foot. He still thinks it'll be Patel - and is incredibly disappointed in Tugendhat, who he used to have a lot of time for.

Is this one not But Jeremy Corbyn's fault?

Is he capable of uniting the Tories and making a serious challenge to Labour at the next General Election?

Or will the murals and other petty hatreds be enough to put off middle england who the Tories lost this time?

Notonthestairs · 03/08/2024 09:32

The dodgy deal Jenrick attempted for Tory donor Desmond in Tower Hamlets should have put an end to his career.

Portsmouth is on the list for today.

I've just come out of there after taking ds swim training.

He wants to go to a beach today for a walk. We won't be heading to that one!

If it helps, portsmouth fc have a pre season friendly away today (my lot are going), so they can't blame football hooligans there.

I would think down by the sea would be ok, especially further away from Southsea pier. If you head east from there, there is a quiet section of beach with a lovely coffee shop (coffee cup). As it is a bit of a walk from the centre, and has nothing to destroy, I would expect them to avoid it. There is parking nearby as well.

I think he’s the man for the times we have. The Conservatives are making a choice in having very right wing candidates across the board. I don’t think any of them will bring back middle England in large numbers.

Yeah cos the Tories would be such a help if parliament was recalled.

This is the new thing. Something called "problem reaction solution". Twitter is full of various AI images depicting Starmer as Hitler or as Muslim and claiming he wanted this to put in draconian powers.

Fucking DARVO of the finest order. I'm really pissed off about it. All those years of "remoaners" being told to wear sackcloth and ashes for "not listening to reasonable concerns" and now the absolute idiots are kicking off over a Labour government.

Angry

Blair did get a shout out. And I’ve reported someone for saying the Southport murders were ‘in the name of Islam’. Ffs.

cardibach · 03/08/2024 09:53

Also posted this about ‘getting our country back’.

Because of where I live I'd have to drive right through town to get to Portsmouth beach little.

Instead I'll go to my local one that's about 3-4 miles away - it's much nicer as a beach anyway!

May even visit the arcades and have a paddle. Will definitely visit a cafe!!! It's farrrrrr to windy to take the kayak 😂

I maybe am being unduly optimistic here but I don’t think any of them are capable of it right now. They’re still in denial about why the were kicked out and seem to think more of the same will get them back in power. Jenrick is saying he’s determined to resurrect Rwanda. What politician worthy of the name does something as foolhardy as committing to a policy they won’t be in a position to enact for at least five years? Anything could happen in that time.

My prediction is that they’re going to lose in 2029 so whoever they choose now is irrelevant because they’ll be gone in five years time. The smart Tory MPs are keeping their powder dry and planning to be the next but one leader.

How can these people be so thick and function in life?

The fact that this heinous crime wasn’t committed by a Muslim is just an inconvenience to these morons.

May all the woof woofs bite all their bums.
