Thank you for this thread. I was about to deregister from MN due to some of the disgraceful threads on here over the last days.

Mine (in Wales) seems to be full of people rubbishing the stats that show the 20mph law change has reduced accidents. Annoying (and daft - they are trying to trash the regular accident statistics as ‘government lying’) but not as bad as racism.

Yes, my Next Door are obsessed with the 20mph limit and there is a lot of moaning about a new recycling system.

I am surprised the civil unrest thread lasted that long.

I hope that police dog got plenty of treats when he came off duty.

We’ve had new recycling systems for a while. It is nonsense in fairness given the housing type, but Next Door frothed for about a month then moved on.

The "disgusted by rioting" thread has now descended into outright racism. All the posters should be banned.

I agree @newnamethanks . We need to be a voice of reason and to keep calling out racism when we see it, and keep reporting it.

We are in the majority and we can't let a vocal minority think they've got some kind of upper hand and cause us to leave out of despair.

I’ve found the moderation to be variable over the past few days, considering the number of reports I’ve made. There are a couple of Mods who seem more on the ball with it all and not because they always agree with me and delete (sometimes they don’t and I can see their point). But MNHQ need to take the current situation much more seriously. This isn’t some FB local group set up by volunteers. They have a responsibility to switch from reactive modding to active modding imo.

But today the sun is shining, again, so I’m not wasting time giving racists and agitators their jollies on here by arguing with them. 3 bags of clothes and 2 bags of books await rehoming and I’ve a car to 🧽

My partner once represent in court a client who was determined that their defence was that they just wanted to pat the police doggy woggy on the head at a football match. Oddly the dog locked onto their arm and did quite a bit of damage.

The judge wasn't impressed.

Facebook and Twitter need people to be personally held responsible in criminal charges, if they allow hate speak to stand on their platform.

Me too. I got scammed by an Aldi/Ninja sale (luckily lost no money but had to block two cards) and the number of posts saying this is a SCAM which gets deleted pretty quick. I've reported until I'm blue in the face, FB never remove the original 'sale'.

I personally think we should take action in the UK regarding x and Facebook- (particularly x)

To have an account you should need a picture profile, passport or official ID and an address linked to account- (and checks out but isn't public and managed by a non affiliated organisation ) as it is it's a giant site of bots, paid political agitators and abuse - all under anonymity in many cases- I realise mumsnet is anonymous too but it's far easier to report abuse and to be fair the worst it gets is someone having huge differences of opinion- I've rarely seen people called c*s or retards etc

At some point, possibly not in the too distant future twitter, will become so unusable as the bots and hate proliferate, that the proportion of actual users will diminish and it will become an irrelevance.
