I’m sorry to hear that. Do you think you’ll have another one day?

I hope so, I keep looking at catios and how they'll fit in the garden. Dh says no right now though, he's a tough strong man on the outside, but a pile of jelly where it counts. We lost our furbaby a month after his dm passed away, and the grief for both is all mixed up. He has to heal first.

I have a catio built onto the back of t(e kitchen because Perdy amd Cordy were rescues from a breeder and doesn’t understand ‘outside’. Perdy doesn’t use it much, but it lets me have the back door open safely. Indoor cats can be hard work, but they are definitely safe.

I’ve just ventured over to AIBU and have immediately shot back here. When will it stop?

CassieMaddox · 01/08/2024 22:37

pointythings · 01/08/2024 21:46

Absolutely, everywhere else is still awash with bitter Tories.

To be fair I don't think it is Tories Confused

Don't look at Twitter is all I can say

ghostyslovesheets · 01/08/2024 22:40

Ah @L1ttledrummergirl I'm sorry to read that - they really hit your heart hard when they go - worst thing about owning them - admittedly poo, vomit and dead things aren't far behind but they leave such a hole x

Absolutely, everywhere else is still awash with bitter Tories.

And I do think this has a lot to do with it. Bitter Tories who just hate that Labour won the election in such a resounding way

MN is hateful in places, the bigoted posts, the racism has me despairing

DuncinToffee · 01/08/2024 22:44

Has the Conservative Party made a statement on the riots?

Just peeked at AIBU. No ta. Certain multicoloured absorbant posters are doing some stirring.

Willowkins · 01/08/2024 22:56

From the BBC: In London ... People could be heard chanting phrases such as "stop the boats" and "save our kids" as they threw bottles and cans at officers.

Correct me if I'm wrong Mr Cleverly but wasn't "Stop the boats" a key Conservative policy?

Yes, I spotted that one

@CassieMaddox yep- today I've been called a retard twice and told to 'go to the gym' - and I'm not even a hard lefty-'more centre/center left

bombastix · 01/08/2024 23:08

It’s all about mixing it up and away from a pretty clear picture of white English nationalism. A lot are just bs, a few seem actually vulnerable in a way.

Cheguevarahamster · 01/08/2024 23:12

Just catching up.
Good speech from Starmer. Very calm and reassuring and not a dog whistle to be heard.

Loving the cat photos. We had a belter of a storm earlier and my cat was not impressed.

I think @toobigformyboots has helped me- this isn't real British people, it's malign influences saying whatever to undermine us.

Most people aren't hateful bigots. I really believe that. This thread shows it. The rest of the Internet isn't real

Evenstar · 01/08/2024 23:31

Just seen on Twitter that people are being reported for threatening the lives of Keir Starmer, his ministers and their families 😮 this is beyond anything I ever thought I would see in Britain

It is shocking. I reported someone on there earlier for similar.

bombastix · 01/08/2024 23:39

Being honest it already happens. It’s just out in the open now.

Jo Cox was murdered by someone with far right views. The risk is real. Some people on here really are what they seem. I do not think it is all that new. It is is just more sophisticated before lapsing into hatred

Evenstar · 01/08/2024 23:41

Yes I think it is it coming out openly that is shocking, you know that there has been violence in the past, but the brazen way they speak about it is new.

bombastix · 01/08/2024 23:56

The complication is the Reform vote. What that vote actually means to people who are racist is powerful. This message that the Conservatives are nowhere (and they are) is being filled with a void of people who want to oppose a Labour government. Their methods are not sophisticated but they are clear. It’s very obvious to me that the Conservative Party are really out of it. This is what fills the void.

Eventually I think this will repulse Conservatives who protest voted Reform. Farage has made a mess of this actually, he’s played it badly. But people use him as licence. The fact that the far right are so visible is about the death of the Conservative Party.

ThatbloodyRoblox · 02/08/2024 00:01

Oh my goodness, what a week this has been!!
It is lovely to come on here and feel I am not alone in my concerns and opposition to the awful behaviour we have seen this week in "supposed" response to the terrible trauma a community is enduring.
I have been absolutely gobsmacked my some pure hatred I have read on SM. This week. Obviously I knew X is a bit of a sewer but local town pages are full of "wake up the lion" "we want our country back" and just openly racist filth with an added support for criminal damage.. " fxxxking mosque innit, deserve it.."
I was really pleased with Starmers speech and felt a bit hopeful... then stupidly went back on SM and read some of the responses.
I am desperate for really shite weather this weekend in the hope it keeps this lot at home. There is a whisper of a "protest" in Liverpool tomorrow.. I know the city fairly well and am very hopeful the people of that fine city will stand together against any Hate.
It does, as others have said feels very organised.

Agreed. I keep hoping it's like a boil bursting and it's the pus before it heals Sad

RobinStrike · 02/08/2024 00:38

@CassieMaddox @bombastix you are right about it being organised.

Who are the far-right groups organising the Southport stabbing protests?

www.thetimes.com/article/792380c2-44f5-45ce-8d5b-192b0e5ad739?shareToken=f83c06f41366e22c0fcdc76f444f19fe

This lists other "protests " riots by any other name, planned for the next few days. Last time EDL went to Liverpool they were chased back into Lime St Station. I hope the same happens this time if they try it.

RafaistheKingofClay · 02/08/2024 01:24

Wasn’t Yaxley-Lennon chased out of Liverpool by his own supporters after he called it a shit hole?

Some of you need to share your rain. It’s bypassed here and is still hot and ridiculously humid here.
