They were eventually sold for scrap at a loss of c£300,000. Typical Conservative management of public funds (see also: garden bridge) Wink

Boris Johnson's unused water cannon sold for scrap at £300k loss https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-46258584

@DrRiverSong

Whole raft of strawberry shortcake recipes here!

I think he’s got a pretty good handle on how people feel @Charlie2121 tbh. People like the parents of those little girls, the wider community in Southport, decent British people who don’t want EDL terrorism…….

Absolutely.

Given the heat right now if the pressure could be adjusted it might actually be pleasant.

I think they got resold in the end

sold for scrap, at a net loss of more than £300,000

It's hot as balls here. I've been sat under a very large black umbrella whilst I gently simmer at the park with DD. I'm a goth, I'm not designed for this weather 😂😂. At least it's not as humid as it was this morning, I swear my feet were sweating 🥵.

BestIsWest · 01/08/2024 17:47

Today was not the day to choose to shampoo the carpets in the loft conversion. We were promised rain!

BIWI · 01/08/2024 17:48

Storms are creeping ever closer! It's weirdly overcast now, but as hot as ever. Rain would be a relief.

How very Johnson. Overpromise, overpay, fail to deliver, throw it away

cardibach · 01/08/2024 17:52

Thunderstorms moving away from my area 😢

countrygirl99 · 01/08/2024 18:04

I didn't water my tomatoes as rain was forecast on and off all day. Just had to give then a good soak so it will probably chuck it down this evening.

Same here. Not a drop of rain. Never mind. Me and the cat are prepared to face off any thugs.

We're looking at tomorrow for rain. Thank. God.

cardibach · 01/08/2024 18:07

Perdy has had enough of both the weather and the racist thugs. She’s not a patient cat.

I love the cat but not the loose fur. Ergh

You’re not wrong @bombastix
I could make an extra cat most days…
She’s a rescue, so not entirely a matter of choice - I took her and a (sadly now deceased) Bengal because they needed someone who had extensive cat experience.

Oh dear, sunstroke? Go lie down in a darkened room Charlie2121, you sound overwrought.

newnamethanks · 01/08/2024 18:31

Oh good, more animals. A borrowed cat.

Just got back from walking the dogs. Every stitch I’m wearing is wet through. Didn’t Starmer do well? That’s gravitas.

ilovesooty · 01/08/2024 18:39

It rained last night here but no sign of rain during the day. Tolkien and little Tennyson kept flopping around being cross.

I've been depressed by the influx of posters trying to claim that Farage isn't a racist. 🙄

Just seen an hilarious post on Facebook with one of those stupid avatars, the first two comments were “Isn’t it called Wetherspoons?” and “Yes, at least the rest of us would be able to avoid them”

Yes I'm finding him pretty impressive, especially compared with the blancmange and his subsequent mates. I'd nearly forgotten what a PM is supposed to be like.

BIossomtoes · 01/08/2024 18:44

I love your cats’ literary names @ilovesooty. I’m finding life here generally depressing right now. The lynch mobs are out in full force on more than one topic.

newnamethanks · 01/08/2024 18:47

This is not a cat, it's an Electric Blue Gecko. Couldn't resist sharing him.

Well I have been out today, and was a little surprised by the number of posts that had accumulated.

Have I understood correctly we have a Prime Minister tackling head on a crisis and none of his ministers have decided to pour accelerant on the situation?
And we have been blessed with a visitor to our peaceful haven?
