It's time for the Olympic Games for the Playmobil people in our house...

... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

Our dc's favourite set was the knights and a castle. Will there be jousting in the PlaymOlympics?

@Hedjwitch I don't think that jousting is an Olympic sport. But archery certainly is!

I'm struggling to think of sports not covered, although some require large teams. Maybe you could invent a few demonstration events!

@LIZS we can't do pole vaulting (don't have the right sort of poles!) or hurdles (too wide for the track spacings, and Playmo people can't bend their little legs to get over the hurdles). I'm sure there are a few other events we can't cover. But we'll do what we can!

Will there be swimming and diving??? I would love to see how you would make that happen!!

Yes @JennyWI there will! Diving wasn't too bad to organise, used one of the Playmo pools with a diving platform. Swimming was harder, as Playmo don't make a rectangular pool. Had to improvise, hope you will like it !

Oh thank you @SoMuchToBits your Playmoland threads are such a delight. I love your imagination...how far ahead do you plan and where do you get such inspiration?

If Playmoland is one place, who are they competing against?

@Butteredtoast55 how far ahead I plan depends on the event! For example, the election I didn't get a lot of time to plan, but that was an event with quite a small set up anyway.

The Olympics I've been planning for months, working out which events I can have, who will be participating, making the props I needed and then planning all the scenes. I think I get most of the inspiration just from real life really!

@FuzzyPuffling good question! They all just compete to see who can be the best really.

Today there is boxing. It's Cassius v Willard.

Willard gets some refreshment!

He has been knocked out!

Willard wins the match!

The next match is between Nikolai and Pablo.

And Pablo is the winner!

In the final it's Pablo v Willard.

Willard is looking good here...

...and he has won gold!
