... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

There will be gymnastics yes, but in the following week I think!

I hope the weather is better in Playmoland than Paris which has looked very wet!

The weather is lovely in Playmoland! Not that it matters too much for today's sports which are indoors, but it might do for tomorrow so hope it continues like this.

The best thing was watching my 82 year old Mum in laws reaction to the Paris opening ceremony.

Today there is also weightlifting. Alexei is preparing to lift a weight of 6g.

He is successful!

Leonid is also attempting 6g.

He manages it quite easily.

Alexei lifts 7g.

And so does Leonid.

Alexei now attempts 8g.

But it's too much for him!

Leonid lifts 8g - he's the winner!
