... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

Next it's the 9000mm race. Taking part are Yvette, Erin, Deepika and Yaroslava.

Erin is currently the front runner...

...but at the end of a close race, Yvette wins!

In the long jump Deepika is running up for her jump.

It's not a bad jump!

Marcus rakes the sand between each jump.

It's Yaroslava's turn next.

That's a good jump!

It's Yvette's turn but she has stepped over the line so it's a foul!

Erin is about to jump.

That's massive!

In the high jump Lucija is attempting a height of 60mm.

She clears that without too much difficulty!

Ahkarsha is trying for 70mm.

Ha - fabulous. What did you use for the sand? Looks a bit like brown sugar.

That's a good jump!

Lucija is attempting the same height.

But she can't clear that.

Ahkarsha is going for 80mm...

She's done it!

It's an Olympic record!

Now it's the medal ceremony for the 600mm.

The Duke of Ruggington is presenting the medals today.

Well done to Ahkarsha with gold, Yvette with silver and Deepika with bronze!
