... and so each day I'll be bringing you all the action. Today is the opening ceremony. There is plenty of entertainment. Here is the King's Drum and Bugle Band, led by Drum Major Jermaine Jacobs.

@Westfacing I think he pretends to have no interest in it, but then again on a recent visit he was thumbing through the Playmobil catalogue comparing and contrasting all the new sets!
And the prize for guessing today's sport goes to @petalpower! Because we are at the swimming pool today. Kimberley, Jubilele, Morwenna and India are ready for the 1080mm freestyle.

And Kimberley just beats Jubilele to win!

Next is the women's 2160mm backstroke. Competing in this are Zara, Tabitha, Lindiwe and Imogen.

Imogen is in the lead...

...but Lindiwe has just overtaken!

It's a really close finish!

Now it's time for the men's 2160mm freestyle. The competitors are Yarin, Celyn, Troy and Arawn.

Troy takes an early lead.

I love the swimming caps (and nice to see all the competitors always have a smile on their faces!)

It's a close finish, but Troy has managed to maintain his lead and is the winner!

Next is the men's 1040mm backstroke. Math, Kobi, Einir and Venkatesh are competing.

I'm fascinated by the swimming pool tiles. Perfect colour and scale!

Kobi is just in the lead...

...but in an amazingly close race Venkatesh is the winner!

It's the medal ceremony for the women's 2180mm backstroke.

Presenting the medals today is the Duke of Waterbury.
