Roast beef, buttery mashed potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and carrots (for DH)
Yum

BigMandyHarris · 21/07/2024 11:49

We’ve booked to go out to our favourite Sunday lunch spot for a veggie roast.

SittingontheSidelines · 21/07/2024 11:54

Slow roasted pork shoulder. Red cabbage, onion, apple, butter beans braised in butter and stock. Potatoes added to the joint at the end. Possibly stuffing.

DH has "kindly" offered to do a bbq, to "give me the day off cooking", I'm already dreading the calls of...
"Can you do the salad"
"Are the jacket potatoes in"
"Will you get me some trays for the meat"
"Will you get all the condiments out"
"Haven't you got the plates and cutlery out yet?"
"I need some kitchen roll"
"Can you get me another beer from the fridge"
THE LIST GOES ON.
I'll hardly get to sit down and be lucky if there's any food left by the time I do get to sit down. I understand how taxing it is to stand and flip burgers while sipping a nice cold beer though, so I'll do my best to cushion his workload!!
Only meant lighthearted, it'll be a nice day 🤣

Moussaka! We have our roasts on Saturday, Sunday is quick and easy dinner day.

Ifailed · 21/07/2024 12:21

Roast guinea fowl with stuffing, home-grown roast parsnip, new potatoes, green beans, runner beans & carrots. Gravy from the roasting tin with flour & white wine.

Mumofyellows · 21/07/2024 12:21

Lasagne and salad tonight. First day of the school
Hols for me tomorrow so maybe a glass of wine too!

HelpMeGetThrough · 21/07/2024 12:21

I've had a very nice dark chocolate digestive biscuit.

May well have a steak sandwich for tea.

LesFlamandes · 21/07/2024 12:24

It’s a pre-holiday back of the freezer special here. Chicken kebabs and beef koftas (bought for a rained off bbq in June) with fried leftover new potatoes, salad and broccoli.

Gin and tonic in the garden first and a frangipane tart (bought for a lunch party in March, then a guest brought pudding) for pudding.

In this house, be Wednesday the answer to this question will be something like, peas, cheese and couscous!

Ciri · 21/07/2024 12:24

Roast pork, apple stuffing, hassleback potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, honey glazed parsnips, carrots, sweetcorn and cauliflower cheese.

MymateDave · 21/07/2024 12:25

I’m making a sausage and stuffing roll with veg & gravy tonight. Might do some broccoli cheese as well. Thought we would have a change from a roast.

MavisPennies · 21/07/2024 12:26

Chicken nuggets and chips - just to bring the tone down

Soluckyinlove · 21/07/2024 12:28

We had roast chicken yesterday so today will be chicken, pea and sweetcorn risotto with some of the leftover chicken.
Strawberries and cream.

Broccoli Cheese?? Ooophhh that sounds good!!

DilemmaDelilah · 21/07/2024 12:30

Left-over quiche and tomatoes here.
Spaghetti Bolognese this evening.

We're having a lazy weekend - the bol was made a couple of weeks ago and frozen.

Tomorrow it's cheapo pizzas for lunch and a chicken and bacon pie made by/with my grandson in the evening.

pinkfondu · 21/07/2024 12:30

Very busy day so it a ausage tray bake with pots, carrots and parsnips, with yorkies and gravey.

InfoSecInTheCity · 21/07/2024 12:41

We're having the bits of roast dinner that we like best so roast potatoes, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, Yorkshire puds and sweetcorn all covered in gravy. Not bothering with the roast beast and everything has been bought pre prepped so it just gets put in the oven in the foil tray it comes in.

Meowzabubz · 21/07/2024 12:42

Roast lamb.

DH insists on roast every single week. Blah.

Bohomovies · 21/07/2024 12:42

I’m rather jealous reading these. I’m craving a roast. We’re having homemade soup for lunch. Lentil and vegetable.

RancidRuby · 21/07/2024 12:46

It's a cooler day here so we're going for a roast too. Roast chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, broccoli/cauli cheese, stewed red cabbage.

UsernameTaken76 · 21/07/2024 12:48

I really fancy a roast but it’s still quite humid here. So we’re going to roast a chicken in the air fryer with flatbreads or 3 cheese bloomer bread & butter. With a MN massive salad

SossijRoll · 21/07/2024 13:20

Corn beef plate pie. Probably with mash and some broccoli. The DC love it. Pastry is already made and in the fridge.

Does he cook it himself, or insist that you do it?!

He cooks and cleans.

It made sense when we had lots of children at home as it was a good way to ensure that no matter what happened they had at least one nutritious meal every week. Now it just feels like over kill.

Moussaka! We have our roasts on Saturday, Sunday is quick and easy dinner day.

I am in awe of anyone who thinks of moussaka as a quick and easy dinner option, and also curious as to what you cook when you want to put some effort into a meal!

We are having pulled pork with corn on the cob and fennel coleslaw.
