I also was a bit confused at moussaka being a quick and easy dinner.

I am in awe of anyone who thinks of moussaka as a quick and easy dinner option, and also curious as to what you cook when you want to put some effort into a meal!

We are having pulled pork with corn on the cob and fennel coleslaw.

Totally agree! The only time it's quick is when it's from the freezer after I lovingly spent hours on it a couple of weeks earlier.

Crumpets for lunch as a full on Nepalese takeaway for dinner. Mine will be tandoori salmon, stag aloo, garlic naan and lamb momos.

Two packs of chicken super noodles

We will eat our main meal this evening as in and out all day. For lunch bruschetta, and for dinner this baked cod with lemon and garlic. It doesn't sound all that exciting but the fish is coated with a mix of spices before being baked with a really lemony, garlicky sauce. It feels light but really packs a punch in terms of flavour. Will serve with some roasted baby potatoes and a couple of salads.

Crimblecrumble5 · 21/07/2024 14:18

I've had roast chicken, roast new potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, carrots, cabbage, broccoli, peas and lush homemade chicken gravy. Pudding was bought rhubarb pie with ice-cream. 😋

Meadowfinch · 21/07/2024 14:21

Home cooked ham tonight, with potato salad, and veggies.

It's a once a week staple in our house so everything is prepared in advance and frozen in batches - the lamb and bechamel are both made in bulk and stored ready to just build it like food lego. The only thing I'll have to do today is the aubergines and then the assembly!

Pallisers · 21/07/2024 14:23

I've cooked every day this week so tonight it is indian takeaway

CoffeandTiaMaria · 21/07/2024 14:26

Oven baked salmon/sea bream/sea bass, new potatoes with lemon and butter, mixed veg. and tabbouleh.
Chocolate ice cream with strawberries and raspberries from the garden, meringues and pouring cream 😋

Will be this evening but we're having Thai green curry cooked by DS2 from scratch. He's moved home for a month post-uni and is keen to keep his culinary skills going. I am delighted to encourage him by dodging cooking tonight.

neilyoungismyhero · 21/07/2024 14:29

Chunky ham and mango sandwich with crusts off. Half a bag of cheese and onion french fries. Cup of tea.
Currently house sitting.

Fuckitydoodah · 21/07/2024 14:31

Chilli with rice and nachos.

I take time off from doing a roast in the summer months.

Nothing, I have an ileostomy and I’m flying tomorrow so I’m eating as little as possible today.

TomatoSandwiches · 21/07/2024 14:37

Homemade chicken schnitzel, baby new potatoes in herby lemon butter and cucumber salad.

EllaPaella · 21/07/2024 14:41

Cold roast chicken with Jacket potatos, salad and coleslaw. Very uninspired but I can't be bothered to do anything fancy.

Sleepychicken · 21/07/2024 14:45

Roast chicken, mash potatoes, roast potatoes, honey roasted carrots, peas, broccoli, swede and yorkshires, it will be ready for 4 - I can’t wait! Some lovely ideas on here

DH has "kindly" offered to do a bbq, to "give me the day off cooking", I'm already dreading the calls of...
"Can you do the salad"
"Are the jacket potatoes in"
"Will you get me some trays for the meat"
"Will you get all the condiments out"
"Haven't you got the plates and cutlery out yet?"
"I need some kitchen roll"
"Can you get me another beer from the fridge"
THE LIST GOES ON.
I'll hardly get to sit down and be lucky if there's any food left by the time I do get to sit down. I understand how taxing it is to stand and flip burgers while sipping a nice cold beer though, so I'll do my best to cushion his workload!!
Only meant lighthearted, it'll be a nice day 🤣

I bloody hate BBQ, and that's one of the main reasons why. I run around making the salads, potatoes, sorting plates, cutlery, etc, chopping the onions. I find it all such a faff. If my job was solely firing up the BBQ and cooking the meat, I'm sure I'd enjoy it far more.

Titsywoo · 21/07/2024 14:53

We are making homemade pizzas in our Ooni tonight and have some friends over for dinner so just getting some toppings ready.
