Good Morning from Skegness! We've been gifted a weekend in a caravan so are all up early to make the most of the beautiful weather 🌞 I'm still sat with a brew first though, before I nip to the little shop on the site for some dilute juice and a few snacks.

Today's plan is find the market for a wander, eat chips, and ice cream, and enjoy a few drinks in the sunshine.

The girls enjoyed the beach last night, and found a starfish, so we'll probably head to the beach too ⛱️.

What about all of you? 🙂

Working till 11, then Tesco, then home, wash the dog.
I might try to get to the beach, but judging by the traffic yesterday a 10 minutes winter drive would probably take 90 so possibly a mooch around the woods.

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 20/07/2024 08:40

Hello from Spain! 🇪🇸

I'm currently sat on the balcony of our apartment getting ready for some very hot weather today. The forecast is 38-40° so we'll be down at the beach all day. I can see the sea from here which is currently like a duck pond so I hope we get some breeze later 😯

Off to the supermarket first though, we love the Mercadona and have to remember that whatever we buy does need carrying home first!

Simonjt · 20/07/2024 08:53

@lucysmam Are you Scottish?

I haven’t been to Skegness in years, have they still got the sealife centre?

We’re at the seaside too, we’re in Sitges, we’ve already been in the pool, when I say we I watched and made my husband go in with the kids instead. It’s due to be very hot today, our villa has three huge parasols, so we’ve moved those to shade over quite a bit of the pool so the kids can still play in it later if they want to.

My mums flying over today to spend a few days with us, so I’ll be driving to the airport to collect her later, so we’ve been stuffing as much fruit and veg in the kids as we can, there will be no chance if healthiness with grandma around.

Mum has booked a private chef to cook our dinner tonight, so I’m quite looking forward to that, they wash up too! It actually wasn’t too expensive, less than we would usually pay to eat out.

Crunchymum · 20/07/2024 08:56

Good morning lucysmam glad to hear you are enjoying the break.

We've had both swimming and a party cancelled today. Swimming pool has a power cut but party is cancelled as there has been a serious norovirus outbreak at our school (lovely way to end the year) and it's taken down half the party attendees.

So we're going to hide and hope we've escaped it 🙏

I have loads of washing to do and we'll probably go out for a bike ride later but other than that we're just going to rest.

Elderflower14 · 20/07/2024 09:06

Morning all. Day off today as I did the 6 till 10 shift last night. We have our village Horticultural Show today. Have made a Victoria Sponge and Cheese Scones...
Going to have a relaxed day... Enjoy your break @lucysmam

Goneback2school · 20/07/2024 09:09

It's absolutely lashing rain here though hopefully should clear up in the afternoon. Lying in bed trying to decide what to do for the day.

FarmtractorJJ · 20/07/2024 09:15

Just thinking how much I love these threads! Just having a coffee in the garden, littlest one has a sickness bug so all plans cancelled for today!

Possibly some gardening for me, it’s looking pretty wild out here!

Enjoy your day.

Shergill15 · 20/07/2024 09:16

Morning everyone. DD 9 has gone off for a holiday to her Dad's in France this morning (first day of Summer holidays for us) so the house is very very quiet, I'm not sure I like it! Just enjoying a coffee then will probably try and tackle some long overdue jobs round the house. My mum isn't well so might visit her if she's up to it later. Will make myself a nice dinner later, something that I wouldn't usually usually cook as DD would turn her nose up at it 😅

Hello all mommas, I am new to this forum, its been an abusive marriage really but our contact is minimal now even while staying under the same roof. Todays agenda is to apply for online jobs or WFH jobs, make a nice dinner and take my little girl out to her favourite playarea. its her birthday today but she doesnt know , we plan on celebrating next weekend. Will share pics with you alll <3

protectoroftherealm · 20/07/2024 09:21

I am sat in my caravan in the peaks, watching Beverley Hills Cop 2! My lad has gone out to play football with his caravan friends and later on I'll have a walk over to the farm shop for ingredients for our tea and possibly a lemon meringue!

CoffeandTiaMaria · 20/07/2024 09:25

Good morning @lucysmam and followers, thank goodness it’s cooler today!
Up really early so I have vacuumed through downstairs, made the beds up for DS, DDIL and DGCs who are coming for the weekend, emptied the dishwasher, painted my toe nails, hung out a load of washing. DH has walked the dog and we’re just having a coffee.
We’re going out for lunch, a rare treat for me!
Nothing else in particular planned, will see what the family fancy doing.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 20/07/2024 09:51

Good morning @Lucysmam and others. Enjoy your weekend break by the sea!
So far this morning I have stripped the bed and washed it, hung it out and been to Aldi for food and bubbles for grandsons. It's cloudy here but very humid and uncomfortable so the fan is on. Later I'll polish and hoover and clean the bathroom. I'll wander round the garden and pull some weeds. Burger with red cabbage slaw for dinner. Enjoy your day

crackfoxy · 20/07/2024 09:52

Waiting on Ocado then a few errands, return a skirt to Tesco, drop off a parcel, buy a graduation gift, then potter around tidying up the garden this afternoon. DD back from hols today so am looking forward to seeing her tonight. Cloudy here in Kent.

piscofrisco · 20/07/2024 09:56

Good morning all. For once I am not at work so have pottered about a bit, done two loads of washing and now about to jump in the shower before I go and get my hair cut and balayaged and a mani-pedi ready for holiday on Thursday. I foolishly bought lots of plants yesterday at the garden centre so will put them in later, probably ruining the mani aspect. That was bad planning. The house desperately needs a clean so will probs tackle some of that too.
Dh is having a bit of a depressive episode so we will probably stay in this evening, home made lasagne for dinner, then early bed with my book. Not the most exciting but it is what it is I suppose.

ssd · 20/07/2024 09:59

Morning @lucysmam and everyone else. Hope everyone on holiday is having a great time.
I'm in bed still, listening to various neighbours cutting wood with electric saws or something similarly noisy. The windows are open as its so stuffy.
Haven't a lot planned today, we will go a walk and a drive later.

lucysmam · 20/07/2024 10:06

@Simonjt nope! Yorkshire. Only ever been to Scotland once. Why?

Morning @lucysmam and all. Happy Saturday.
Just finished Parkrun and going to meet my dad for breakfast.
Need to pick up a couple of bits later for my upcoming trip to the Lake District later this week then a lazy sofa evening.
Enjoy your day everyone.

sittingonacornflake · 20/07/2024 10:13

@Goneback2school absolutely lashing it down here too.

Suffice to say I'm parked on the sofa in a thick jumper and socks watching tv and browsing Mumsnet. Also considering some dr martens from the sale.

@Simonjt nope! Yorkshire. Only ever been to Scotland once. Why?

I’ve only heard Scottish people call what I would call squash, diluting juice.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/07/2024 10:16

Hi @lucysmam , I hope you are having a lovely time in Skegness. We have a day of rain here in the South West (according to the Met Office) but very glad of it after 2 scorching days!

We have been looking after our middle grandson this week as he finished school for the holidays on the 12th, and I happened to have already booked a week off. We have only done what we had already planned, day trip wise, but to keep him occupied I have been cooking with him every day and instead of being able to go for an afternoon nap on the days we have been at home I have been cooking with him. So I am actually exhausted!

Today I am still lounging in bed, having been brought breakfast in bed some time ago. I'm going to make a quiche for lunch later, as I have a HUGE bowl of eggs left over from meringue making for the lemon meringue pie making yesterday. We got to separating egg number 5 when some yolk got into the whites and we had to start all over again.... lucky I had bought extra eggs!

I didn't get around to clearing the chairdrobe completely last weekend, so that still needs doing. However, overall we are planning on not doing much at all this weekend. We have him with us on Monday and Friday next week as well - my normal days off - and I think we need to recharge our batteries beforehand. Since we won't be going anywhere much on those days I will be having an afternoon nap though - and letting DH keep him occupied. He can catch up on his name when I'm working.

Username620 · 20/07/2024 10:16

Packing to go on my first holiday with my partner and his children. We’ve been gifted a holiday house about 50 miles away.

ShipshapeShore · 20/07/2024 10:17

Dry here but very cloudy. We're going to a farmers market in a minute, although it's mainly cakes and crafts.

This afternoon I'm going to give the house a little blitz - I decided the first week of the hols was to relax and not stress - while the DDs do art, then we're planning to make blackberry muffins.

I love reading about what everyone else is up to. It is strangely comforting!

JMAngel1 · 20/07/2024 10:34

Morning everyone and @lucysmam Enjoy your break.

I’m back in bed with a cappuccino having power cleaned downstairs. Just about to jump in shower for a pamper and then taking Dds shopping to celebrate end of term and excellent reports/exam results. I fear for my bank balance 😂
DH has an exam at home so we can’t return home until 6pm so might get tea out as a treat.

Film then early night. Try : to drink
wine as had been not drinking for 4 weeks then caved last night after a super stressful endless work week - only had 1 glass but I can really feel it this morning.

Weather is rubbish here today. Typical after the great weather during the week. So I've been catching up on the chores that were neglected during the week. Just finished blitzing upstairs. DH is busy sorting out train tickets, visitor attraction tickets for our day trip to London in a few weeks. DS is playing his playstation.
