Good Morning from Skegness! We've been gifted a weekend in a caravan so are all up early to make the most of the beautiful weather 🌞 I'm still sat with a brew first though, before I nip to the little shop on the site for some dilute juice and a few snacks.

Today's plan is find the market for a wander, eat chips, and ice cream, and enjoy a few drinks in the sunshine.

The girls enjoyed the beach last night, and found a starfish, so we'll probably head to the beach too ⛱️.

What about all of you? 🙂

Ooo Skegness, used to love going there!

Our town festival is going on at the moment so today we're going to the skate park for a free rock concert with local bands, and meeting up with a playdate friend there who has come all the way from Lapland, she and DS have been having a lovely time playing together so glad to get another chance before they go back up north.
Also going to keep an eye out for hidden buckets - the festival organisers have hidden 200 buckets around town, and in half of them there are two tickets to the music festival next weekend. I already have tickets so I'm hoping to find a ticket bucket to give tickets to my friends.

DD is sleeping, and I expect she won't wake up until late afternoon - she loves the summer holidays for catching up with sleep!

OH is in the basement playing guitar, he's been really stressed with work but playing guitar keeps his mind off it so he'll probably play the entire weekend.

Morning everyone! I've just finished a very gentle pregnancy exercise routine and then going to take the kids out for a walk. We're off to a wedding later and I'm hoping the weather stays nice since it's very outdoors... It seems like we're only allowed a single hot day this summer if we have it followed by 6 grey ones!

828Pax · 20/07/2024 10:51

Morning all! I love these threads! We have had a lazy morning, put a wash on and had a quick tidy. About to go food shopping and then we are sorting the garden out ready for the kids to use all summer. I usually feel like I need to be out all day doing amazing things so just learning to take weekends slower and enjoy the time at home!

gingercat02 · 20/07/2024 10:52

Love Skeggy @lucysmam, the N Yorkshire coast is gorgeous, and hopefully, you are getting the epic weather we have a bit further north.

We are going to tackle the garden today, we have been on holiday, so the grass needs to be cut, and the front hedge is well overdue a cut too.
I did a load of weeding yesterday and tidyed the veg beds, so that should be us done.

I have the bedding and towels on, and I am just about to go to my dance class.

troppibambini6 · 20/07/2024 10:56

Morning @lucysmam sounds like a lovely break hope the weather is good for you.

Very slow start to the day still all in pjs. Dd 1 at her boyfriends after a party last night, dd2 at a sleepover, ds1 and 2 currently on PlayStation and iPad.

We are going to head in town for a mooch with the boys and maybe lunch. Need to dismantle a shelving unit and a wood shed and put them in the skip. But other than that we are really enjoying a break from the kids sport. It's so nice not to be up at the crack of dawn and off to some random location for a match!

Peridot1 · 20/07/2024 11:15

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Enjoy your weekend away @lucysmam. Sounds lovely.

Ive been a bit more productive than normal on a Saturday morning. One wash done and one line and another one in. Kitchen done. Downstairs vacuumed. One load of washing put away.

I’m sitting with a coffee just now trying to remember where my stash of greeting cards is as I need a Get Well card for a neighbour. Will do that and drop it around and then do some ironing.

It’s cloudy here but am still planning on some time in the garden with my book later.

Topsy44 · 20/07/2024 11:18

Good Morning Lucysman and All!

First day of summer school holidays for us although I still have a week and a half of work to go before I’ve got a few weeks off.

I’m having a bit of a gardening day today as long as the rain holds off! I’ve managed to mow the back lawn so far and just having a cuppa before tackling the weeding on the back patio.

I hope all that are on hols are enjoying a break away.

Noraise · 20/07/2024 11:22

Crunchymum · 20/07/2024 08:56

Good morning lucysmam glad to hear you are enjoying the break.

We've had both swimming and a party cancelled today. Swimming pool has a power cut but party is cancelled as there has been a serious norovirus outbreak at our school (lovely way to end the year) and it's taken down half the party attendees.

So we're going to hide and hope we've escaped it 🙏

I have loads of washing to do and we'll probably go out for a bike ride later but other than that we're just going to rest.

Goodness … where are you in the country? Sounds awful

Crikeyalmighty · 20/07/2024 11:23

On holiday on lovely Hydra - DH is 60 today

nicky2512 · 20/07/2024 11:24

Morning all. Hope everyone on holidays is having a great time.

It is lashing with rain here.
Dh is at work until one, Dd is at work all day (holiday job visitor experience in a nearby tourist attraction) and Ds is going out to get stuff for his car.

Ds took me out earlier to get the shopping so now it’s just me and the dog (who is fast asleep).

I have so much that needs done. My health isn’t the best and I don’t get stuff done as quickly any more. But I’m really struggling to get motivated!

Ozgirl75 · 20/07/2024 11:26

It’s evening here (Aus) and we went to Bicentennial Park with the kids and cycled round for a couple of hours, then had a late lunch in the cafe there. Lovely sunny but chilly day.

Roystonv · 20/07/2024 11:30

Up at 9, read book (3rd St Mary's - reading them all again), painted toenails and don't tell anyone hair removed my moustache, cross fingers solved a damp problem under one of our windows. GD 6th birthday party this afternoon, then our usual Saturday sandwich/pork pie type tea (decided to have one day off a week cooking some months ago), do some prep for meal we are hosting tomorrow. Watch some more recorded Tour de France (mainly for the scenery) and try to understand rules/intentions etc!

London, Zone 1.

I've never known anything as bad as this in all the years I've had primary aged children (8+ years)

Every year group is affected, staff too.

There has been huge pressure on attendance and the Y6's in particular have been under pressure as there has been so much end of school stuff going on. Y6 has been the worst hit.

I'm a recovering emetophobe as well so (selfishly) it's extra horrible for me

Arraminta · 20/07/2024 11:47

Had a hectic week so this weekend is lazy. Have just finished my 2nd coffee and put some laundry in. Going to jump in the shower and pop a purple hair masque on to brighten up my highlights. DH has gone into the office early, but meeting up for lunch out and afterwards I've booked him a full Turkish shave for a treat.

This afternoon will just be pottering and reading. Then tonight more of the same as DH will be transfixed by the golf.

Sanch1 · 20/07/2024 11:59

It's absolutely throwing it down here so not much! I've just got saturated on a run, after lunch I will take littlest into town as she wants some toy money. DH and I are going out for dinner tonight.

frankincenseandoranges · 20/07/2024 12:05

Lovely drizzly day here so far so the house has been aired out and I'm getting it all fresh and clean again after the heat of the last few days: laundry, fresh flowers, empty bins, etc. Everything feels gross when it's hot.

We've been out and got pastries, eaten them with cups of tea, and I'm going to start making lunch.

TheMainCharacter · 20/07/2024 12:12

Pouring here too.
We have part 2 of a wedding this evening, part 1 was yesterday and I’m feeling a bit hungover despite only having 3 drinks over the 5 hours! Maybe because it was so hot yesterday so I was dehydrated. Also didn’t sleep well as my partner has a cold and was snoring all night.
About to cook some bacon and have a coffee, my tea and weetabix earlier this morning didn’t cut it!

Chelsea26 · 20/07/2024 12:30

Morning all and happy holidays to those that are away!!

I had a lie in and then a shower which is not that easy with a broken ankle but I feel much better for it and am now on the sofa with my leg elevated watching the cricket. It’s cooler than yesterday which I’m thankful for but I think it’s going to warm up later.

My sister is on her way over with my baby nephew so that will be a nice distraction from the leg. DP has just put pork tenderloin in the slow cooker for pulled pork tacos for dinner. DSD and my niece are eating noodles, DS1&2 and DSS are upstairs in their rooms on screens and will probably stay there most of the day.

I think my sister is staying over so we’ll crack open the wine later and have a nice gossip xx

mondaytosunday · 20/07/2024 16:12

Ashamed to say it's now past 4pm and I've done F- all. Forgot a had made a breakfast 'date' with my DD so she texted this morning asking what I was doing and I photographed my breakfast... she was not pleased.
Then went back to bed and just looked at YouTube. Played a few games. Had a nap. Got hungry came down just had a few leftovers. Now sitting here on MN. Sigh.

Taytocrisps · 20/07/2024 16:28

Hi @lucysmam and gang. Did my usual weekly shop this morning. Got home and blitzed the fridge and bagged up everything for the freezer for the week. I know it sounds sad but if my friddge/freezer aren't tidy and organised, my life just feels all chaotic.

On a more exciting note, I'm heading into Dublin to meet up with two old school friends. We're heading out for dinner and maybe a drink or two. I should have about 45 minutes to kill before dinner, so I'll have a wander around the shops. Looking forward to it but I"ll be home by midnight.

It's grey and drizzly so what's new.

Was confused so had to check Google Maps to make sure Skegness wasn't in North Yorkshire!

gingercat02 · 20/07/2024 17:13

Oops. It was Scarborough I was thinking of. I do love Skegness, too. I used to live in Grimsby, so I should really know better 🫣

Peridot1 · 20/07/2024 20:43

Ooh enjoy @Taytocrisps! Tell me where you ended up going! I’m from Dublin originally. The bit that’s been in the news all week!

Taytocrisps · 20/07/2024 22:17

@Peridot we went to Cafe en Seine. On the bus now, heading back to the sticks. And I bought a new outfit in M&S on Grafton Street while I was waiting for the others.

Peridot1 · 21/07/2024 10:21

Sounds like a nice day @Taytocrisps
