No more in information as of yet. His poor family

It's still a ridiculous comparison. Keith's mum was tormented for nearly 50 years about where her son was buried, and his killer played games with her about his location.

Whereas Jay's death was likely an accident and he went missing less than a month ago.

I'm not bothered what you find ridiculous to be frank. It's still a mother wanting to give her son a burial and intill an autopsy is done we've no idea how he died.

GreyBlackLove · 15/07/2024 16:10

I've hiked there, but even as part of a group and properly attired it was hard going. Lots of loose ground, steep drops and scrub obscuring hazards. When we went a woman had recently passed away on the same trail. I can well believe someone dehydrated, tired, hungover, without a map and ill clothed could have a fatal accident. Even more easily can I imagine how difficult it would be to find them if they wandered off trail.

Hope this at least gives his friends and family a sense of closure.

OneFrenchEgg · 15/07/2024 16:13

Well that should stop MWT from inserting himself next time maybe? Quick to fuel Nicola bulley and to jump on the Jay slater bandwagon. Hod knows how much money people have made out of the family. Every time I looked at TikTok (yes I love it for recipes, made an amazing potato salad) some woman called Comet and some bloke called Down the Rapids were constantly on there.

Your posts are redundant and irrelevent, given the remains HAVE been found and the police WILL be conducting a post-mortem, and there will be a burial at some point.

So the comparison with poor Keith Bennett is gratuitious and unnecessary.

That's the whole point in saying glad they have been found so she doesn't have to go through that torment. Address somebody else cheers.

Tracker1234 · 15/07/2024 16:16

It is sad that his body has been found but not unexpected. Some the stories coming out were getting more and more daft. It sounds like he slipped with no water or phone and fell to his death. His background wasnt great and the things he did are shameful. The parents have closure now though. The example of Keith Bennet is shocking. Its NOTHING like that!!

It was a thoughless comment to make after he's been found. Don't post drivel if you don't want to be addressed.

I don't know you from Adam so if anyone's the stalker it must be you.

What's embarrassing is your inability to see how thoughtless your comment was.

TakeOnFlea · 15/07/2024 16:21

What a horrible, insensitive and quite frankly, stupid comparison to make @BowlOfNoodles

Nothing in common whatsoever

Rizzola95 · 15/07/2024 16:22

"That's the whole point in saying glad they have been found so she doesn't have to go through that torment. Address somebody else cheers."

Don't worry @BowlOfNoodles, it was obvious what you meant and I don't think you need to explain yourself to that poster. They deliberately compared the wrong components of each case to make the comparison sound absurd (despite the fact that you'd explained your comparison).

TwixOwl · 15/07/2024 16:22

3 recent stories where missing people are found right under people's noses and totally missed for ages. There must surely be a better system to find lost people?

I don't know why you're getting grief tbh I understood what you meant, even before you clarified you were referring to the family not knowing what happened.

Please do explain the 'right' components.

The Mosely search party were fking hopeless.

TakeOnFlea · 15/07/2024 16:24

I completely disagree @Rizzola95

I think posters should take a beat and actually think about what they are writing when referring to such horrific and tragic cases on a public forum.

It's not comparable in the slightest

I understood what you meant too @BowlOfNoodles

Rizzola95 · 15/07/2024 16:24

You don't need me to explain. @BowlOfNoodles already explained what she meant and it was clear. you decided to pick it apart and make it something it wasn't m.

BowlOfNoodles · 15/07/2024 16:24

I couidnt give less of a fuck what you think lol I said I'm glad it hasn't gone on for years ( like the torment Keith's mom went through ) I'm not talking about anything other than the need to bury remains ( I watched some of her interviews talking about wanting to give him a burial ) I wasn't talking about anything more than BURIAL.

TwixOwl · 15/07/2024 16:25

I absolutely agree with this. That story haunts me.

SallyWD · 15/07/2024 16:25

I know the family had brought in a Dutch search team who started their search today. I wonder if it was them that found the body then alerted the Guarda Civil who sent the helicopter and removed the body.
I thought the Guarda Civil had stopped searching weeks ago but their statement said they've been continuously searching the whole time.

“Makes decisions that lead to fatal incident” implies that anything from potentially taking a wrong turn and not having enough water is the same as allegedly hanging out with drug mules and attempting to screw over drug dealers/commit burglary”.

Clearly not the same, clearly one is more unfortunate than the other. MM’s death was a tragedy, and very sad. This is completely different.

He had left the villa, been seen twice by a local (second time just walking along the road, not trying to hide) made a phone call in which he sounded ok, and during which he possibly slipped. And then 20 mins or so later made a distressed call and sent final ping. His body was found in a normally inaccessible spot, close to the final ping. It sounds exactly like he made a wrong turn and didn't have enough water.

In neither case did their personal history make the difference in that moment when they each chose, for whatever reason, not to wait for the bus but instead to set off walking and somehow, for reasons we'll probably never know, make a choice that was the wrong turn that led to fatality.

Misadventure isn't linked to previous character and standing in the community.

Agreed. Insenstive and thoughtless.
