SilverHeels · 15/07/2024 10:47

I am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks . I am wearing a green jewel colour dress and am struggling to know what jacket / cardi to wear. I really feel the cold so will need to wear something unless we have a heatwave.

I have a blue denim jacket is that a no no for a smart / casual wedding ?

I have a black denim type jacket or black cardis but feel I want something more cheerful for a summer wedding.

please help me I am hopeless. Size 14 ish short person. Big boobs.

the dress is sort of like this just a little bit more flouncy.

Yes

Scentedjasmin · 15/07/2024 10:48

I actually think that a denim jacket is too casual. Could you get an emerald green wrap cardigan if you feel cold?

yeesh · 15/07/2024 10:49

No, denim is way too casual for a wedding

I wouldn't no - I feel a demin jacket would be a bit too casual for a wedding.

TheTripThatWasnt · 15/07/2024 10:49

Lovely dress. And would look fab with a denim jacket... but not for a wedding, IMO.

Is the wedding all in the same location? If so, will you need anything more?

Cheeesus · 15/07/2024 10:49

I think a cardigan would be better. What colour are your shoes?

skinnyoptionsonly · 15/07/2024 10:49

Not to a wedding

msmatcha · 15/07/2024 10:50

No to denim. Get a beige wrap maybe instead. Will come in handy.

Allthislovelygreen · 15/07/2024 10:50

I wouldn't, I'd feel too self conscious. If I had no cash I'd honestly rather go to a charity shop and pick up a blazer/formal jacket for a few quid. The charity shops are full of wedding and graduation wear at the moment

SeeSeeRider · 15/07/2024 10:52

I wore a black denim jacket to a wedding in May. Got compliments and asked where I got it (Next).

PashaMinaMio · 15/07/2024 10:53

No to the denim.
How about a large pashmina?
They come in amazing colours. Take a look.

Beefcurtains79 · 15/07/2024 10:53

No way, far too casual for a wedding.

Or maybe something like this

@Cheeesus I don’t have any shoes thank you for reminding me. I am really panicking now as I am guessing trainers are also a no no then !

I am going to have to go shopping or do emergency online order. I was hoping it is warm enough for sandals but thinking about it I only have black ones that are smart enough. I can’t wear heels. I really am hopeless.

We are staying at the wedding hotel so can add layers as the event goes on and hopefully no one will notice if I get more casual as more drink is taken.

I agree that a formal jacket is a really easy thing to find in a charity shop, so if you're on a budget I'd start there.

Personally I'd go with a cream Chanel-type jacket, there's millions of them in the shops atm.

Longma · 15/07/2024 10:59

It very much depends on the type of wedding.
For many weddings a demon jacket would be perfectly fine.
For others, less so.

ScribblingPixie · 15/07/2024 11:01

I've found great men's navy blazers from charity shop, it's definitely worth checking the men's rails. Or what about a navy broderie anglais shirt - the right shape would work as a little jacket and it'd be a nice thing to wear afterwards.

Black sandals and the black cardi you mentioned in your OP would be fine (assuming the cardi is short an 'neat' and not an oversized wooly one!).

Sillystrumpet · 15/07/2024 11:02

No you can’t wear a denim jacket and also you can’t wear trainers. A cardigan and sandals will be fine.

SilverHeels · 15/07/2024 11:03

Can I wear gold sparkly DMs ?

I think yes.

Cheeesus · 15/07/2024 11:06

Not sure that helps with cardigan colour though. Black still maybe works.

GoodieMcTwoshoes · 15/07/2024 11:07

I wouldn't.

Crikeyalmighty · 15/07/2024 11:08

I think a pashmina too
