The armed security seemed quite slow to respond - maybe Trump felt he was speaking only to supporters.

If the guy interviewed on the BBC is right then the shooter was on a roof outside the perimeter.

Another witness says he saw people in the stands who were hit by bullets and who were stretchered into ambulances.

Some of the comments on here are absolutely vile.

Trump may not be someone you personally like or his policies personally resonate with you, but no one deserves to be shot in the head when doing your job.

He didn’t need to “set it up” to help him win the election- it’s clear as day to anyone with half a brain he is going to walk the election considering his only real opponent is a man who can’t walk onto an aeroplane without falling, called his Vice President “Trump” the other day and speaks more gibberish than a toddler. Biden wouldn’t pass a basic interview to get a job in the local shop at this rate.

It’s also just generally really shitty to tar all of Trump’s supporters with the same brush- the vast majority are hard working people who are struggling and the last four years have been especially tough. It’s the same situation that we just had in the UK- a lot of people voted Labour to get the Conservatives out of office. They didn’t vote Labour because they liked their policies.

I feel awful for the poor person that lost their life at the rally today. Their poor family.

But yes, it was a set up to get Trump more votes… some of you are living in delulu land.

Honestly how thick can someone be to even suggest that. The desperation to discredit Trump is astounding and giving him the comeback.

The Guardian is reporting that the shooter is dead, one person in the crowd was killed, and another person is seriously injured. Obviously, these are still early and uncorroborated reports.

It did cross my mind that it might be a setup, but I don't think so. Trump looked genuinely shaken and I really don't think he would be that good an actor if it was fake.

Doesn't matter what you think of him - I can't stand him, personally - but there is no place for any kind of violence in politics. Very sorry to hear that someone else at the rally has apparently lost their life.

The first mystery is how on earth this was allowed to happen - something seems to have gone horribly wrong with his security.

The second is the mystery of why the fuck the crowd didn't react more.... there was one woman just sat on her phone throughout!
