I've got £500 to spend as I please, on myself. But I can't think what to buy, maybe a new coffee machine (but not sure what type). What would you buy for £100-500?

@MerryMarys, yes, hopefully they would be.

It's odd though - this situation comes up quite often, and people often say they're pretty skint. I think giving yourself a financial buffer is treating yourself though.

Thanks, lots of good ideas!

Not a coffee machine because I love my super cheap aeropress.

I'd buy really nice pyjamas, some new makeup, maybe trainers,, headphones. Take a friend for lunch. Mostly things that will last.

I have spent £275 today on a Shiah Tzu puppy from Battersea Dogs Home.

I’d buy some linen bedding and also go on a spa day somewhere quite swanky with a massage, healthy lunch, swimming, sauna etc.

Either teeth whitening or a beautiful tattoo.

Our Cathedral are auctioning pieces of carved stone that has been removed when repairs are made. I would love a nice chunk of that.

Roystonv · 15/07/2024 07:22

New lawn edging and repairs to solve small area of damp. Both too much for our standard monthly income; I will conquer it though. Assuming you do not have the same two problems I agree it depends on your financial situation. Struggling - do what will solve a problem/put your mind at rest but keep a bit back just for you. Secure - blow it.

EdithGrantham · 15/07/2024 07:47

Very boring but first I'd pay off the couple of hundred that's left on my credit card then I'd use the rest to get someone to come and sort the garden for me, the weeds are out of control and I need a few slabs laying.

DustyLee123 · 15/07/2024 07:48

I bought a 1000 thread Egyptian cotton sheet, and it so soft and cool, and washes so well. It’s still like new.

An experience. Sailing or kayaking trip, festival, weekend break away, gig tickets

This. I would definitely pay off any debts first and make sure I've got enough savings before spending any of it.

I've just splashed £499 on a boujee coffee machine, its the EQ500 Siemens. It was literally reduced from £999, which is wild!!

Loving it so far, couldn't recommend more. Hubby loves it more than me🙄

I spent 500 on laser hair removal! Only jad 1 session and I can see a difference already. Have another 7 to go
