What would you spend £100-£500 on?

I've got £500 to spend as I please, on myself. But I can't think what to buy, maybe a new coffee machine (but not sure what type). What would you buy for £100-500?

Some carpet or a new fascia board.

Firtreeandpinecones · 13/07/2024 21:24

Rugs

Or language lessons

Or a weekend away

I bought a DeLonghi bean to cup coffee machine for about £400, and honestly, although I use it several times a day, I do regret spending that much money on it. Don't get me wrong, the coffee is great, but it's no better than my old machine which used ground coffee.

I would buy a cheaper one next time or even stick to my stove top espresso which I still use occasionally! And use the rest of the money on something else - maybe a couple of good quality wardrobe items like boots or coats.

But it depends on your needs/wants at the moment.

I would donate £100 to my cats charity (where I adopted her from) and then go to London for an overnight stay and a trip to the theatre.

I got £500 of vouchers from work for Christmas. Out of all the things I bought with them the one I'm happiest with, and use the most, is a Kindle Paperwhite.

Meadowwild · 13/07/2024 21:26

I'd choose between

Cashmere sweater and cashmere slouchy socks for around the house in winter.
A diptych verveine candle
A beautiful table or floor lamp
Flights to Amsterdam to see the Van Gogh museum
Tickets to a good music festival or gig

NoNameisGoodEnough · 13/07/2024 21:33

Probably concert tickets.

If I had a few hundred more, a Mulberry handbag.

mrssunshinexxx · 13/07/2024 21:35

Botox , filler , trip to hair dressers new pair of sweaty Betty powerhold leggings

TheQueenWhoNeverWas · 13/07/2024 21:37

New handbag.
Top end tickets to a show - I tend to be a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to tickets, but it would be nice to splurge and go for premium seats.
Weekend away at a really nice hotel in the UK, or cheapish mini break in Europe.

FairviewRosie24 · 13/07/2024 21:39

New laptop. One i use for work has a shit battery

Bearpawk · 13/07/2024 21:40

Either:
A nice handbag
A night in London in a decent hotel and meal out
Or some really great kitchen knives

Bobbotgegrinch · 13/07/2024 21:52

A new graphics card, so I can play all the newest prettiest computer games.

I'm guessing that's not helpful to you though, because if you were the sort of person to want a new graphics card, you wouldn't be the sort of person who'd need to ask this question on Mumsnet.

Botoxbettie · 13/07/2024 22:10

A gold necklace, it will hold its value should I get tired of it and want to sell it and buy something else I like, or it can become a family heirloom.

DrCoconut · 13/07/2024 22:25

I'd probably put it towards my savings to get laminate flooring in the living room. Maybe new clothes if it had to be purely self indulgent. I'd love to do a break somewhere and just rest but that wouldn't be possible for me at the minute.

Plants for my garden, and some nice Sarah Raven pots to keep them in.

Books.

Scent - perfume for me, a diffuser for the house.

Go to Fortnum’s and buy everything I love to eat and drink quietly at home, especially lots of Turkish Delight.

Allthehorsesintheworld · 13/07/2024 22:39

I could stretch £500 to two weekends away for me, Edinburgh and West Wales probably.

RomanticOutlaws · 13/07/2024 22:41

The biggest bottle of my favourite perfume
New pair of headphones
New coat
New boots

If I've budgeted correctly, should have enough left over for a Chinese takeaway.

That should eat up the £500!

RubyGemStone · 13/07/2024 22:49

I've just bought tickets to see the Cinderella ballet at the Royal Opera House at Christmas.

I have an expensive Delonghi coffee machine, and I love it. Previous one lasted 20 years and tbh pays for itself as I never buy coffees out so I think its worth it. I'd describe it as one of my best ever purchases.

Moier · 13/07/2024 22:50

Eyebrows microbladed/ tattooed.
A facial and a massage and a pedicure.

Ilovebees · 13/07/2024 23:23

I would buy 4 pairs on Nike low dunk trainers 🤪😆😉

Davros · 13/07/2024 23:47

Liberty bedding, especially the patterned sheets

Sethera · 13/07/2024 23:48

A new-to-me camera (you can get quite a decent camera secondhand for £500).

QueenBitch666 · 14/07/2024 01:53

A painter and decorator. I hate painting
