There should be the death penalty for Karl Clifford and those like him

There is no doubt he did it. No case of mistaken identity. He’s taken 3 lives. He should be executed.

@HermioneWeasley Can I ask why you think we should use capital punishment? What purpose do you believe it serves?

HermioneWeasley · 10/07/2024 20:10

I stand by it. For this guy (I only heard his name on TV and hadn’t read it so apologies to all those offended I got his first name wrong. I was writing a thread on Mn very upset by the murder of 3 women, not preparing CPS documents), Ian Huntley and others. There is no question of guilt, no hope of rehabilitation, no purpose for keeping them alive. I respect that others have a different opinion and that probably makes them better, smarter, more compassionate than me. But I can’t feel any other way.

Why is it so bad to put him to sleep? It is way better than the horrific death he caused to 3 others. He should without question get the death penalty. Cruel and unusual no, but lethal injection yes. It is also a question of cost, do not want to feed and guard him.

I wonder if she were a man would they still think or would he be automatically guilty?

Fucks sake. Do we have to bring that into everything now???

I'm starting to suspect a large number of men have come on here to keep digging at women and say oh but if it was a man you'd all think differently. Just stop FFS.

FWIW, had Letby been a male nurse I still wouldn't automatically assume guilt. The questions that hang over the conviction from certain quarters would still be there. But a jury did find her guilty so your point of assuming they would only find a man guilty is utter rubbish.

I didn’t say that, please read my post properly. I said women who abuse their children by severe neglect.

Emotionally and mentally abuse their children.

Ones basically who beat their children black and blue.

I think they should not be allowed to have more kids because they just keep popping them out and they get put in the care system. I know of someone who does this and I find is really upsetting. Why would you keep getting pregnant knowing social are going to take that baby the second they are born. It’s just cruel 😔

Can't you see how this would impact us all?

How would this legislation be written? Would you have to abuse 1 kid? 2? How any bruises would the kid have to have?

It would need to be fairly general, which leaves it open to abuse from authorities.

ChunkyChips76 · 10/07/2024 20:11

I totally agree with capital punishment.

He took three women's lives in cold blood. Why should he live out the rest of his days on the taxpayer's money, in a cell with TV, access to education etc, for the rest of his life?

Everyone on this thread has opinions it does not make them, smarter etc etc as you say. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Why do you think that?

I think people like to think that as it makes them feel better.

I will never support state sponsored murder aka a death penalty. I hope he's either killed himself or if caught, convicted and sentenced to a real life sentence.

Whilst horrified at the deaths of Carol, Louise and Hannah I wouldn't want to live in a society that murders anyone.

I am in my 50s and a little horrified by the rise in this incel misogynistic culture. I did have hope that we were moving to a more equal society but it seems to be getting more aggressive.

All of this.

Waffle78 · 10/07/2024 20:13

Pity he didn't do himself in twat.

mydamnfootstuckinthedoor · 10/07/2024 20:14

No death penalty. No exception. Otherwise we are as bad as they are.

theDudesmummy · 10/07/2024 20:15

Hang on bit. Everyone who is saying there is no question of guilt, how do you know that? From what the media tells you? That's not how it works.

sanityisamyth · 10/07/2024 20:16

@Sondheimisademigod 🤣

He is a monster, as are all the men who kill on average 2 women a week.

But no to the death penalty.,

Just because men like him are inhuman scum, doesn't mean that we - or the State on our behalf - should sink to his level. We should rise above these monsters. But he should be locked up & never released. I hope he dies in prison.

Cremeroulety · 10/07/2024 20:19

Redshoeblueshoe · 10/07/2024 18:54

Well it looks like he has already unsuccessfully tried to kill himself.
But I don't agree with the death penalty

Those poor women 😔

They need to put him on suicide watch. Vile twisted individual.

Podcast84 · 10/07/2024 20:19

Yes, I agree. If I thought he would live a miserable life in prison then I would prefer him to just have a whole life tariff, but it will probably just be like living in a youth club, you get to play cards, pool, watch TV, play football in the yard, get your 3 meals a day and not have to worry about paying a mortgage etc so no, he doesn't deserve a life like that. He deserves to die for what he did.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/07/2024 20:20

No. He may be guilty but others following, were the law to change, may not be.

YellowAsteroid · 10/07/2024 20:21

And I understand how you feel @HermioneWeasley really I do. I couldn't concentrate at work this afternoon because I am so angry.

But no, we should not stoop to this barbarian's level.

HermioneWeasley · 10/07/2024 20:21

@thinkhorsesnotzebra

I don’t think him being alive serves any purpose. There is no justice, no peace for the bereaved husband and father, two young women had their whole lives ahead of them. Why should he get to live in any way?

You don't know anything about prison, do you?

Maaate · 10/07/2024 20:22

I do love how the "execute them if it's 100%" definite they did it" mob continually show their complete ignorance of how murder convictions are actually achieved 🙄

Lethal injection is arguably cruel and unusual punishment. I certainly think it’s cruel. This is partly why many human rights organisations are against the death penalty.

I don't think being deprived of your liberty for the rest of your mortal life is like a youth club. But if he's convicted (I certainly hope he is convicted) then life really must mean life. He must die in prison.

wordler · 10/07/2024 20:23

For those pro the death penalty would you be prepared to do it yourself?

Are you prepared to become a killer to punish a killer?
