I started feeling poorly Friday evening. Feel horrendous at the moment. What are people’s experiences of this latest strain - how many days of feeling shit should I anticipate?

Oh I would love to know as well like you started on Friday and feeling awful, covid is rife atm

hellesbells · 07/07/2024 19:05

Sorry meant to say hope you feel better soon

EasterlyDirections · 07/07/2024 19:06

DH started it last Sat, wasn't too bad over the weekend, then 4 days of feeling pretty rough but able to do a bit of WFH, housework etc and started feeling better yesterday.

Started Tuesday night; felt a little more human yesterday; much better today. Mind you, I've not left the house yet!

SantaBarbaraMonica · 07/07/2024 19:07

2 people I know of were a full week. Maybe 4 days feeling terribly unwell.

Countrydiary · 07/07/2024 19:08

Two weeks in for me, first 5-6 days pretty much in bed or on sofa. I’ve been up and about this week but have been getting exhausted pretty quickly. Really hit me this time!

FionnulaTheCooler · 07/07/2024 19:11

Are people still doing lateral flow tests or just assuming Covid based on the symptoms? I didn't test but had what could have been it this week. Started feeling rough on Monday, absolutely horrendous on Tuesday, fever, aches and pains, stabbing sore throat and fatigue. Mostly back to normal now.

JaneIves · 07/07/2024 19:14

I tested positive yesterday, wasn't feeling too bad, like a very mild cold.
Today I look and feel like I've been dug up.
Dreadful congestion, headache, sore throat and lethargy.
This is not my first rodeo, covid round 6 I think!

Parkerpenny · 07/07/2024 19:14

Day 4 and weakness and fatigue are stopping me from functioning properly. No way I could work.
3rd time with Covid and each time has been less bad though. 1st time I was bedridden for over a week.

Puffykins · 07/07/2024 19:14

I've been feeling pretty awful since Wednesday- all the same symptoms as when I had Covid first and second time around, but have tested negative twice...

EmpressaurusDeiGatti · 07/07/2024 19:14

I went down with it last Sunday & was in bed / on the sofa for most of the week. I started recovering around Friday & today I’m better, though still planning to take it easy for a few days.

lobsterkiller · 07/07/2024 19:15

Felt rough on Wednesday, positive Thursday and had a roughish day. Friday, I cut the grass and did the weeks washing.

My appetite went through the roof and I struggled to sleep but today feels more normal, thank god as I've eaten so much cake and pizza!

Hope everyone's feeling better soon.

Circumferences · 07/07/2024 19:18

My son started showing symptoms on Thursday 20th June so we kept him off school assuming he'd be back on the Monday. He then suffered complications, had two more weeks off. He'll be back at school on Monday. We tested and it was positive

doneandone · 07/07/2024 19:18

Not tested but feeling very similar to when I did have covid. Main symptoms are complete lethargy, I'm so tired and feel like I'm wading through treacle. I haven't been off work but stopped the extra activities I do in the evenings for a week. 2 weeks later and I'm not 100%, still feeling exhausted but slowly felling a bit more with it.

theeyeofdoe · 07/07/2024 19:21

Me:48hrs
DS: 5 days.
DH: 3 weeks!

HermioneWeasley · 07/07/2024 19:27

Thanks everyone for your experiences and I hope everyone feels better soon!

I assumed it was a cold but realised I had a temperature this afternoon so thought I’d better test and it was an instant positive.

worst symptoms are joint pain which I think I had with it last time, but that was years ago so can’t really recall. I do recall fatigue and terrible weakness last time - I was ok sitting down but if I stood up my legs went from under me like bambi!

I tested because I felt exhausted & thought I had a temperature. It was only really those & aches for me - back ache in particular - and a bit of coughing.

So interested that you were eating loads. I had this as well and assumed I was just being greedy, but just felt like I needed so much food!

Countrydiary · 07/07/2024 19:57

Also I do hope everyone feels better soon!

Noosnom · 07/07/2024 19:58

3-4 days feeling really poorly in bed.
Another week of head cold / cough and feeling worn out.

AceofPentacles · 07/07/2024 19:58

Day 1-3 in bed
4-7 feeling rough could manage things around the house
8-10 mostly felt nauseous and no appetite

PinkTonic · 07/07/2024 20:04

I’m a full fortnight in and I had antivirals. I was too unwell to function for 5 days, slightly better but exhausted and suffering brain fog for another 5 days and have been left with a horrible cough and waves of tiredness for the past few days. Much much worse than when I had it before. It was sudden as well, starting feeling a bit dodgy on Friday evening, and woke up Saturday morning barely able to make it to the bathroom. The test was instantly positive.

Been a week for me, range of symptoms, sudden onset. complete bugger, I've forced myself out last two days, completely tired all time. Still positive 😌

lobsterkiller · 07/07/2024 20:12

@Countrydiary I think it's a normal reaction to Covid, ive read on here that appetite can ramp up. 🙂
