Something tells me the King will be very happy about this. I suspect he and Starmer have a lot in common.

So Reform and Green have 4 each? Guess who the papers will bleat on about.

Yes, Plaid Cymru also got 4 seats but they'll barely get a mention.

Yuk eewww woke up stil in a blue area

I feel disgusting I need a hot shower, gin and tonic aswell as a colonic irrigation just to feel a bit clean after this.

Somebody has to be. Sorry for you all. Ignore them and focus on government.

BestIsWest · 05/07/2024 10:38

I’d like to see stats on how a) the delay in postal votes and b) voter id affected turn out.

I know four people who didn’t receive their postal votes and one who received his in Portugal on Monday - not sure if there is a deadline for it to be received back here. All 5 would have been Lab or Lib Dem.

placemats · 05/07/2024 10:41

Are they trying to prise his fingers from the door jam?

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 10:42

He is sorry

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 10:42

Stepping down as party leader

theonewiththeToryMP · 05/07/2024 10:42

I see reform Bots are already telling us that Reform are Really Important and how many constituencies they came second in. Errmmm.... so did LibDem, so did Labour, so did the Tories. Someone has to.

dontcallmelen · 05/07/2024 10:44

Missed lots of the good stuff I fell asleep at about 2am, am relieved that reform didn’t get the predicted amount of seats.

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 10:44

This is unexpectedly graceful.

Just thinking the same.

DuncinToffee · 05/07/2024 10:46

And he is off to Buckingham Palace

IClaudine · 05/07/2024 10:46

If he had been more like that during debates, instead of petulant, he may not have lost the GE.

BIossomtoes · 05/07/2024 10:47

Yes, good point.

You just know the crowds are there for Starmer. 🎉🥂👏

Evenstar · 05/07/2024 10:49

It’s a good speech, but quite a striking lack of awareness after his Government’s divisive culture wars and Rwanda bill to recognise that our country’s values are the opposite of that.

Very gracious to Keir Starmer and pleased after the campaign to see Keir’s decency etc acknowledged

Mhairi Black “I can live with that” on Mogg’s loss. Brilliant delivery.

This is hilarious! Pretending MB is any better than JRM! She is uncouth and it’s frankly embarrassing to have her representing Scotland. I mean she swears in parliament!

I’ve always had a lot of time for her. I think I’d probably swear in parliament, it must be beyond frustrating.

Don’t remember her blaming the Grenfell victims. But, yeah, being a bit sweary is no different than that.

dontcallmelen · 05/07/2024 10:54

I have good news in my constituency, Labour won with a majority of just over thirteen thousand Tory in second reform third, a new constituency but previously Tory for the last seventy years.

SerendipityJane · 05/07/2024 10:56

What a night !

Right, because parliament is such a showcase of civilised behaviour and good manners...

I'd rather have someone who swears and gets on with the job than someone who hides behind a false veneer of gentility.

Postal votes had to be in by 10pm yesterday.

Some of our friends never got their postal vote either.
