Do you like strongly scented laundry?

I cannot wear clothes unless they smell really strongly of the washing powder. I think it’s a throwback to being a student and putting deodorant over mildew stained clothes 😅

It makes me twitchy if I can’t smell detergent! Please tell me I’m not completely mad

I prefer clothes to smell of nothing

Comethefuckonbridget1 · 03/07/2024 21:35

I like a light fresh smell but not very strong smells, my friend uses scent boosters, scented detergent and softener and I find it very overpowering

stressedespresso · 03/07/2024 21:35

Love my laundry to smell nice and strong - always have! The Lenor blue fabric conditioner is my favourite scent in the world 🤩

No. I like a faint whiff of laundry detergent. Even better if it's dried outside. But strongly smelling, no. I got a free sample of those scent boosters and I thought they were overpowering.when I tried them.

spikeandbuffy · 03/07/2024 21:39

Yes and no
My fave is the fairy almond milk and honey scent boosters so I like them to smell strongly of a subtle smell if that makes sense Grin
Not like a jasmine or patchouli or rose
I use persil powder usually

JassyRadlett · 03/07/2024 21:44

Oh god no. I can't bear any of those fake chemical smells and half the time if I buy something on Vinted I have to wash it several times to get rid of the overpowering smell.

DS2 has one friend who comes to stay often and the smell of whatever detergents his family use lingers for days. 🤢

VelvetBow · 03/07/2024 21:44

I like a strong smell but not a chemical smell. I love the Fairy fragrance.

LizzieBennett73 · 03/07/2024 21:45

I associate a strong smell with cheap detergent, sorry! I was stood in a queue the other day behind someone who absolutely stank of it and it made my eyes water. I like washing to smell clean, nothing more.

Summerfreezemakesmedrinkwine · 03/07/2024 21:46

No. I can't bear strongly scented laundry stuff.

HowIrresponsible · 03/07/2024 21:47

I buy Ecover zero, fragrance free.

I can't stand the smell of detergent on clothes.

nildesparandum · 03/07/2024 21:48

I have COPD and strong scented laundry is one of the triggers for a bad attack.

ModWolves · 03/07/2024 21:48

I second the smell of Fairy, really nice. Otherwise nothing is best.

EinekleineKatze · 03/07/2024 21:49

I prefer a very, very faint washing powder scent or nothing at all. I hate strongly smelling detergents or conditioners and hate the scent boosters.

UnaOfStormhold · 03/07/2024 21:49

Urgh no, I hate strongly scented laundry - I have just put some vinted items on their fourth wash to try and remove the smell but sometimes it just doesn't go. I love the subtle smell of washing fresh off the line but I always use unscented powder and no conditioner or smell booster.

darksigns · 03/07/2024 21:49

I can’t stand it, I like laundry to smell of nothing.

Vinorosso74 · 03/07/2024 21:50

No. I hate strong smelling laundry detergent and fabric softener. I hate that aisle in the supermarket too. It all smells so artificial amd overpowering.

EinekleineKatze · 03/07/2024 21:50

VelvetBow · 03/07/2024 21:44

I like a strong smell but not a chemical smell. I love the Fairy fragrance.

All smells are chemical smells because everything is made of chemicals. 😬👍

Ereyraa · 03/07/2024 21:50

I like to smell it, but only traditional washing scents like Persil/Fairy.

Can’t stand things like strawberry and lily sensations etc, why would you want your washing to smell like milkshake

BananaPalm · 03/07/2024 21:56

This.

And to me strong smell of washing powder just seems... tacky for some reason. So nope.

Cadela · 03/07/2024 21:57

Oh god no I use persil wonder wash and drive Dd crazy sniffing her before she goes to school.

No scent boosters or fabric softener here!

Love, love the smell of scented laundry! I line dry mine and even the garden smells of my washing when I go to bring it in 🤭

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/07/2024 22:03

I just like things to smell clean. I’m bemused at all the current ads for extra super-scented products to add to the wash - all those FRESH! outdoor-ables, etc. Super-artificial-stinky, is all that comes to mind. .

Pedallleur · 03/07/2024 22:05

No. It's Ecover Zero non bio sensitive here. Washing smells of nothing. It's just clean. Even better if air dried

Ponderingwindow · 03/07/2024 22:06

Exactly the opposite. I have a serious fragrance allergy. Washing powder is the worst.

If I even get near someone who smells of it, I start breaking out in hives and coughing uncontrollably. I have to use a special kind that is allergen free and avoid stores or at least sections of stores, depending on size, that sell the product. if I touch something that has been washed in it, the rash is epic and can last for weeks. I get almost everything I need delivered because of this.

i carry epi-pens when I do leave the house, but it is still very risky because people insist on draping themselves in scent.

fedupdontknowwheretoputmyself · 03/07/2024 22:06

If anyone is struggling to get rid of artificial scents on bought clothing, try white vinegar in the conditioner drawer. It helps get rid of odours and doesn't smell vinegary afterwards.

I like washing to smell clean and fresh, but not strongly of cheap artificial chemicals. I use Ariel bio powder and only a tiny sprinkle of Fairy scent balls just to give it a freshly washed scent. I associate strong fragrance smells with the sort of people who keep xl bullies 🙈 there's a street in my village that absolutely stinks of plug in air fresheners and Lenor scent boosters 🤢
