Based London and apparently it's starting to be a bit rampant here. Thought it was food poisoning but now got cold symptoms and shivery. Massive headache when first started 3 days ago.
Going to dash to chemist shortly 🤞

Dh tested positive after 2.5 days (first test, thought it was just a cold at first).

its2024 · 03/07/2024 22:07

I think I have it, not got any tests but been ill for about 10 days now. Don't feel much better, no energy, stuffy head and now developed a chesty cough. Not been out house since day 1, so fed up now.

Blingismything · 03/07/2024 22:42

My friends elderly father died of Covid a couple of weeks ago, my daughter and her partner have also tested positive in the past fortnight. Surrey/Sussex.

Those symptoms sound awful. I had a booster vaccine a few weeks ago as I don't want to risk passing it onto my elderly mother but are vaccines not preventing this strain?

The vaccines have never prevented it, they're just supposed to reduce severity of the symptoms.

dreamingofsun · 04/07/2024 09:11

Its going to really spread after today when everyone is out voting, sharing their germs around

Greentreesandbushes · 04/07/2024 09:14

I have covid, tested as had tests in house from visiting care home.

GlomOfNit · 04/07/2024 10:00

Dammit, I DO have it! Tested neg last night, very strong positive today. Have to fly home tomorrow. Double-masked.

If anyone's interested, my symptoms (not all at same time, and they are responding to paracetamol and strong coffee): chesty, and a productive cough; phlegm; sneezing a bit; runny nose; sore eyes; tiredness; aches in shoulders/arms/neck; a bit spaced out/dizzy; the shivers at times though not sure I have a high temp (I'm not near a thermometer at the moment); and just started, a loose tummy. 😷

Fed up. I'm glad now I didn't plan anything for my birthday, which is in about a week! And DS and I have to get back home tomorrow morning on a 3.5 hour flight. We have to, there's no alternative.

Lemonsole · 04/07/2024 10:24

I've got it. Tested positive yesterday. Felt exactly as it did when I had it back in '21. Felt exhausted yet couldn't sleep. Dry cough and runny nose. Brain fog. Achy and shivery.

Lemonsole · 04/07/2024 10:27

I'd have given my right arm for a booster vax yet not eligible. And only 60% of those invited took up the offer? Arseholes.

Agree, people can be selfish, am sure I caught it from someone really coughing on the bus, they obvi had it

What will you do if not allowed on the plane?

wavingfuriously · 03/07/2024 16:22

Yep..two strong lines ..positive..thought I'd escaped never mind

I had the symptoms last fortnight but tested negative. Sister just tested positive - but a really faint line, wonder if new varieties show up as easily on these old home test kits?

Sharontheodopolodous · 04/07/2024 12:08

I had it a few weeks ago
Headache from hell, couldn't get enough air into my lungs, felt grotty,a bad cough (which i still have) and a sore throat
Tested neg but I honestly think I caught it from the arsehole colleague at work-loads of us came down with it (all tested positive) as he 'felt a bit off but didn't want to lose his pay' (he lasted less 2 hours into an 8 hour shift)
This is the second time I've had it but Oddly dp has never had it

It was empty when I went for mine, nobody else in the vaccine centre

EasterlyDirections · 04/07/2024 12:11

DH used an old test kit (6 months past expiry) and got a strong positive before the liquid had even reached the control line.

CoastalCalm · 04/07/2024 12:13

My husband has it like a previous post I couldn’t believe how quickly a strong red line appeared within seconds of testing - symptoms started Monday

CoastalCalm · 04/07/2024 12:14

Oh and the pharmacy staff here are back to being masked as cases are so high

rookiemere · 04/07/2024 12:18

It's rife here in Edinburgh. DH and I both had it about a month ago. I am still not 100% as can't run or go to gym classes. Plus we both for sore throats and headaches a couple of days ago, so I really hope that's not us getting it again although I did test negative so hopefully not.
I'm going to pay for the vaccine- I am changing jobs and I can't afford to have a week off work, when some people have the attitude that just because they weren't ill with covid that's the same for everyone.

LikeToBeOnABeachRightNow · 04/07/2024 12:34

Those that can, please try to avoid or limit contact with others. Many of the symptoms on here, along with some more serious ones, I've had for over two years - came on a couple of weeks after a mild dose. No pre-existing conditions, but have now had to stop work completely and can operate at about 10% of previous capacity for the limited time I'm out of bed. I can't even do a play date for the kids, let alone a day out with them.

AIstolemylunch · 04/07/2024 12:43

Ive got it at the momemt am off work today. Havent tested but exact same synptoms as the other (4!) times ive had it. Tired at beginning of week. Bad headache Tuesday and shivery, tickly saw throat yesterday and sneezing, in the night started to feel really ill with wicked sore throat. Flu symptoms today and struggling to get out of bed. Hoping it wont last as long this time. Last time was in october and seemed a bit mider though got secondary chest infection and had to get antibiotics, which is a mission.

Are the tests you can buy in the pahrmacy now different from the original ones or is it worth uaing an old one from a couple of years ago?

The tests are the same , I went for some yesterday

Duckswaddle · 04/07/2024 12:53

I had it last week - body aches, fever, headache and neck pain, cough. Much better now but still fatigued and getting rid of the cough.

Initially thought it was flu but then read about this new round of covid and I had every symptom.

hja62 · 04/07/2024 13:52

I have it. Had a scratchy throat last Friday, wouldn't even call it sore. Continued over the weekend and started to get headachy and tired on Monday. Went to work Tuesday morning and last 2 hours, started aching all over and shivering. Temp was up but only just over 38. Tested and came straight up before control line. The temp and aches barely lasted 12 hours and I'm fine since only extremely tired. No respiratory symptoms at all. It seems to have been a pretty mild dose thankfully. I'm 6 weeks pregnant too so extremely anxious about any fevers...

HRTQueen · 04/07/2024 13:57

I had it recently and only tested as I had a test at home

Felt really really unwell for 7 days and still three weeks later I feel run down and coughing a lot. A fever for 10 days then on and off for a further week

When I had it before (confirmed) i was unwell for three days that was it

Slugsandsnailsresidehere · 04/07/2024 13:58

I have put on DHs "Dressing gown of doom" to signify I'm officially unwell. Family have barely raised an eyebrow except to ask what's for lunch (all wfh today). Pointed at the fridge and have left them to it! Retired to my bed with DCat who is an excellent support with her therapeutic purring.

I had to cancel great plans for the next few days so feeling extra cheesed off!
