Based London and apparently it's starting to be a bit rampant here. Thought it was food poisoning but now got cold symptoms and shivery. Massive headache when first started 3 days ago.
Going to dash to chemist shortly 🤞

It’s the head I’m finding hardest to cope with. I’ve never had a headache like it. I feel like someone is trying to crush my forehead into my eye. I haven’t really had a cough

Same here, never had headache like it and body felt it was collapsing..just slept for two now got other symptoms...certainly packs a punch!

I did a positive test today, I wanted to check and justify cancelling some appointments... Heavy cold symptoms

Noosnom · 03/07/2024 18:20

It's everywhere near me. I was ill three weeks ago, in bed for 3 days and I don't do bed rest.

I really hope this isn't a sign of a bad winter to come. I don't have time to keep losing a few days being ill. it's set my running times back a bit too.

One of my friends had random peeling skin on the palms of her hands a few weeks ago but no other symptoms, didn't think of covid

WeeOrcadian · 03/07/2024 18:40

I sneezed constantly for an hour, thought it was a cold & hayfever

Tested positive, I'd only tested as DC were supposed to see my Dad (he's clinically vulnerable and recently out of hospital)

Ended up with two weeks off work, I slept pretty much for 10 days of that

GG1986 · 03/07/2024 18:51

I've had it recently and had the shits.

Topsy44 · 03/07/2024 19:19

I’m pretty sure I had it at the beginning of June. I tested on day one but it came up negative. I’ve never felt so ill in such a long time. I really thought I’d got the flu!

It came on v suddenly, headache in the morning on Day One, by the evening I had shivers, temperature, skin feeling sore and then a few days in the most awful cough - no exaggeration to say I was coughing all night.

Had to have 2 weeks off which is unheard of for me. It was much much worse than when I’ve had Covid before.

JacquiDaytona · 03/07/2024 19:21

Yep, certain we’ve both had it and now our toddler has horrible croup symptoms - almost a month now of at least one of us being ill!

Headache, travel sickness type nausea, chills, fever, aches, sore throat - this variant seems to have it all!

KayMama · 03/07/2024 19:23

☝🏼 felt fluey, turns out it’s Covid. Feeling really sorry for myself as I am pregnant and due next week.

Tinytigertail · 03/07/2024 19:37

Yes, rife here (N London) Dr has said that the LFTs are not always picking it up, so even if you test negative, you are probably not!

TheZenOne22 · 03/07/2024 19:41

Tested positive today. Felt ill from Sunday but thought that was the weekend catching up with me. Thought I had a chest infection - almost forgot about Covid. The cough is the main thing for me this time - ouch!

Jen946 · 03/07/2024 19:47

Just to give you some hope, we had it for the first time recently. Started off similar to hay-fever and progressed to feeling like a mainly mild sinusy-cold. No cough, no sore throat, pretty tired but able to continue working as normal, with one fairly miserable day of feeling rotten and sneezy. I did have strange tingly legs, like ants under the skin for a few days and a headache that felt like mainly blocked sinuses. Cleared up after about 5 days and fully back to normal a few days later. Hope you have a similar experience and are out the other side of it soon

Those symptoms sound awful. I had a booster vaccine a few weeks ago as I don't want to risk passing it onto my elderly mother but are vaccines not preventing this strain?

No vaccines are preventing any strain

You can still catch it and still pass it on, the vaccines are so you dont get as poorly with it.

Stripesandchecks543 · 03/07/2024 20:08

I had it last week. It was awful with headaches, nausea, sudden surges of fevers. Extreme fatigue and aches and pains. I still feel a bit tired and breathless although a lot better than I did.

My dh still has it and is really feeling grim.

Edited to say that my doctor said there is a huge wave of Covid atm which is unusual for summer months.

Theeasypeasywoman · 03/07/2024 20:10

I had it last month. Caught it from my toddler who caught it from nursery. She was fine within 2 days with no cough, while it took me a month to fully recover and I am on the healthier side of living. I felt very sick but still went to drop off my toddler to nursery where I saw so many parents coughing around and came home and did a test and came back positive. I couldn't even get up from the bed when It was on peak 😑

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 03/07/2024 20:40

I have it. Day 7 and still feel like shit. I have had it a few times, but I haven't felt this ill with it before.

My teeth aching is the worst symptom, it's driving me mad.

user18423052 · 03/07/2024 20:48

Scratchy throat and knackered here, hope I don't have it as a few people at work are off with it. Last had it in Feb so I hope I've got some immunity and it's just hayfever or the cold weather that's gone to my throat!

minnieot · 03/07/2024 21:06

Yes, I do. Tested positive today, not feeling too bad yet but currently 7 months pregnant so feeling very sad about it

Hope you're okay lovely, I'm also pregnant with Covid. Hope you feel better before baby arrives x

Applepencilplant · 03/07/2024 21:07

I have it. My sil and brother has it and all their kids. Two of my friends, my neighbour and the man who delivered my shoppings girlfriend.

cough.
Get well soon.

awaynboilyurheid · 03/07/2024 21:17

Tested positive, did the test as as I was feeling unwell, sore throat high temp, upset stomach no carrying on as normal here I was in bed for a couple of days and felt rubbish. Now negative on day 7 and better but sounds like I’ve got a bad cold. It’s rife here apparently chemist has covid tests out on the counter as no point putting them away as lots are coming in for them.

wavingfuriously · 03/07/2024 21:18

Thought a further vaccine was only available to over 75's or severely immunosuppressed?
I wonder in view of the increased cases whether government may make it available to younger age groups? how long does a vaccine offer protection for anyway? any docs about..

I've just had it.. finished in a week and kick started my diet off nicely.

GlomOfNit · 03/07/2024 21:43

I definitely have something but have tested negative today. I'm abroad, somewhere very hot and just for a few days, and due to travel home again in 2 days. (Please don't tell me not to travel, I have absolutely no alternative for various reasons. I will mask up.) Started feeling a bit off yesterday but we're walking lots and like I say, it's hot. But this isn't heat stroke - runny nose, phlegm, cough, raspy voice, feel so tired, achey shoulders... DS is with me and has whatever it is too, and also tested negative today. So fed up. Somehow, I have to get us packed up, back to airport and home on Friday!

How long after onset of feeling shite did people test positive?
