Just being nosy really. Health issues that cause fatigue but I'm like a permanently exhausted night owl
Last night my sleep thing says I had 5hrs 22 mins and of that 52 mins was deep sleep

I'm shattered Grin

Anything less than 7 hours and I’m a zombie

icebearforpresident · 03/07/2024 13:40

I’m naturally a night owl and have to get up for work etc at about 7.30am so I probably average about 6 hours a night anyway. A few nights of 5 hours sleep wouldn’t effect me too much and I would probably get used to it after a while it was continuous.

WhatNoRaisins · 03/07/2024 13:41

The odd night like that I can cope with but if every night was like that I'd be a grumpy zombie.

Fine and normal I have a 2 year that still wakes three- four times a night so 5 hours sleep if uninterrupted sounds devine

TakeMe2Insanity · 03/07/2024 13:44

We’ve been living off 3 and half hrs sleep sessions due to dc medical condition which requires us to feed every 4hrs since January when he came home. Thats life for us.

mindutopia · 03/07/2024 13:44

I’d feel pretty tired. I normally sleep 7-8 hours a night. 5 is survivable but I wouldn’t function well.

Interrupted at 2.45 by the bloody cat waking me up chewing a wire
I had to kick him out and then he body slammed the door for 15 mins until I shut him in the living room Blush

Crap. But I wouldn't make too many mistakes at work (office). I just try to get through to 7pm and bed on days like that.
Less than that and I'm a liability at my desk.

I changed my job so I can walk and I don't have to worry about driving on little sleep.

Overthebow · 03/07/2024 13:48

I have two young children including a baby so usually have under 5 hours sleep and have to look after a 4 year old and a baby most days. I’m permanently exhausted but just have to get on with it!

Ineffable23 · 03/07/2024 13:49

Like crap. My brain falls off a cliff if I get less than about 6 (7 or so hours in bed). I can function from the POV of conversations but not in terms of doing a good job of complex work.

Overthebow · 03/07/2024 13:49

5 hours uninterrupted sounds brilliant, I usually get woken up in that time.

loropianalover · 03/07/2024 13:50

5hrs I’d be ‘fine’ (I’d be tired but I’d cope) as a once off.. 52 mins deep sleep for you doesn’t sound good though!

I’m usually 11.00ish-7ish and same on weekends. I find if I deviate on weekends I suffer during the week and it’s not worth it.

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/07/2024 13:51

According to my watch my average sleep is 5hrs 44 mins and has been for years.

I do alright, feel tired quite often and l drink a lot of coffee. More sleep would be good but I don't have time for it.

NoraLuka · 03/07/2024 13:51

Like a zombie for a while then I get a kind of second wind and I’ll be all raring to go for a 15 k run or clean the house from top to bottom or something. Then I collapse and nobody hears from me again until the next day 😁

Vettrianofan · 03/07/2024 13:53

Like shit. That's how I would feel.

TooSweetForMe · 03/07/2024 13:57

I'd feel fine if it was a few nights of 5 hours but then I'd need more sleep. I usually get about 7 hours sleep.

Babyboomtastic · 03/07/2024 13:58

Last night was about 5.5 from the time I first went asleep to when I was up for the day, so about the same as you.

Though I did have about 4 wake ups in that, with 2 lots of 2 hour sleep and then some dozing.

It's not unusual for me though as my children have sleep issues.

I'm knackered but have been just about working ok.

Caspianberg · 03/07/2024 14:01

I’m constantly tired. But with a child and work and life you just have to carry on.

Ds has never slept the whole night in 4 years. So 4+ years. 5-6 hrs sleep feels like enough though compared to the first 18 months when I would regularly get only 90mins sleep in 24hrs! As he would scream and scream and only sleep if fed and rocked.

In an ideal world I used to sleep 10.30pm-6.30/7am, so 8+ hrs. Longer on weekends

macshoto · 03/07/2024 14:01

Last night was:

4h15 asleep
5h53 in bed

Feeling a bit slow this morning as a result. This was relatively unusual as I messed up my sleep hygiene with volunteer charity role until midnight and then listening to podcasts to wind down.

Average over the last 10 years is:

Weekdays asleep 5h15 - 5h45 (varies by day)
Weekends asleep 7h30

Weekdays in bed 6h00 - 6h40
Weekends in bed 8h45

CrushingOnRubies · 03/07/2024 14:02

Tired especially in the morning. But after a coffee could still function. Would probably crash later in the afternoon and have a nap

EliflurtleAndTheInfiniteMadness · 03/07/2024 14:03

My 'normal' because I get very little sleep last couple years with pain im in.

MissingMoominMamma · 03/07/2024 14:03

Pretty much how I do now. Dizzy.

FiveTreeHill · 03/07/2024 14:04

Like absolute shit tbh

One or two days and I can cope okay but I'd still feel exhausted. Longer term I'd feel horrendous

spikeandbuffy · 03/07/2024 14:08

Hmmm, I need to look at my sleep
The medical issues cause fatigue and I'm constantly whinging how tired I am but I guess now I know why.. probably more than 5hrs sleep is a good start!

MonsteraMama · 03/07/2024 14:10

Fine, my average is 5-6 hours and always has been. I've never been a good sleeper so I guess my body has just adapted to cope with it. My husband would be a pie eyed state on 5 hours though, if he doesn't get a solid 8 hours he barely qualifies as human.
