Violent vomiting for hours overnight so thought just bad dose of D&V. But very sore chest. Sore neck (glands like 2 hardboiled eggs). No temp but shivery.
Pale, clammy, massive headache not resolving with ibuprofen / paracetamol. Any ideas what it might be (covid?)
We are due on hols in 12 days (1st flight ever) & would really like him well.

Take him to A&E pronto. While not always the case, it’s pretty uncommon for young males to get sick like this, so I’d take it seriously (ex A&E here).

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 01:57

Triage Nurse was nice. The Dr was very brusque but they’ve taken bloods, and a heart trace & he's off for a chest xray so they're being thorough which is good.

So the Dr didn’t brush you off and took it seriously, as they should with this presentation😊. Job done. Their job is not to have a jolly with you/patient but solely to make an assessment, implement a fix if/as required, resolve and get patient out door in quickest time possible to turn the bed over while doing the same with countless others.

PoopingAllTheWay · 01/07/2024 03:04

Hope he feels better really soon

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 03:42

@HoppingPavlova
Dr just came back. Bloods show damage to heart muscle. He thinks viral not heart attack but Ds will see a heart specialist in the morning. They're keeping him on a heart monitor & giving hom some meds to protect his heart. We're still in A&E as no beds atm

@medianewbie bloody good job you went in!

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 03:59

His Triponeum level is over 2000.
Bit scared now.

I hope everything is ok. He's in the best place.

PoopingAllTheWay · 01/07/2024 04:11

Always go to Hospital with chest pain

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 04:16

Is that a really high level ? They're not really saying much.

Lollipopsicle · 01/07/2024 04:21

Thinking of you OP. He's in the best place. Keep us updated. Hugs to you and your DS. x

DumbassHamsterSitterPerson · 01/07/2024 04:29

Thinking of you both OP.

autienotnaughty · 01/07/2024 04:44

Glad you went . If he's anything like my son pain can be confusing. My son (7) didn't murmer at a broken wrist but cried when the dog accidentally scratched him.

Hope everything is okay

happinessischocolate · 01/07/2024 05:00

At least you're being seen. My dd had similar and a&e weren't interested, after waiting 4 hours they just told her there would be at least another 5 hour wait for a blood test and sent her back out into the waiting room.

She couldn't see a doctor locally as she's back from uni so had to drive her 4 hours to Manchester to attend an appointment there

Nurse told her it was probably viral meningitis and would last 4 weeks, she was already 2/3 weeks in at that point. Then a week and a half later she was suddenly better. She's still knackered and sleeps a lot but she's getting there.

Good luck

SofiaAmes · 01/07/2024 05:06

From a quick google, that type of level can mean that he's had a heart attack. Good thing you went in and that they checked and that they're keeping him there. You will get answers in the morning. This is all very treatable especially if you know that he has a heart condition.

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 05:13

@happinessischocolate I'm really sorry to hear you & your dd had such a bad time of it. My exH was sent home ftom this hospital in 2018, after being bluelighted in ambulance with no bloods ot monitoring. Was put on a trolley in corridor, said he felt better & told to call a cab. Very relieved Ds has had a better experience of care tonight. Hope your Dd continues to improve & thanks for encouraging words x

Really scary @medianewbie

Sounds like they are taking great care of him.

How are you doing?

medianewbie · 01/07/2024 05:44

@Inmynotgivingafuckera I've had to leave my 16 y/o at home. She's asleep but also Autistic so if she wakes & we're gone she'll panic. Ds doesn't want me to leave atm. I'll call exH shortly to cover here briefly while I zip home & get Ds comfort toy & a bag. I'll wake dd & tell her. ExH is a nightmare- we are Divorcing (papers being lodged tomorrow (today!) so I'd rather not see him (& Dd hates him) but needs must.
Main thing is Ds' is hopefully OK. His chest Xray & 2 Ecgs were clear apparently just the 'exceptional triponeum level' caused concern.

Glad you took him in and he is being cared for.

Vallmo47 · 01/07/2024 06:38

I’m so glad you took him to A&E… please let us know how he gets on. He’s in the right hands.

TableTabler · 01/07/2024 06:40

That troponin level is extremely high. Do you have holiday insurance?

Mindyourownbusinessmadam · 01/07/2024 07:01

That troponin level is quite concerning.my DP had a heart attack and a 90 percent blockage of the main artery and his was 1350 and he was in for a week after having a stent fitted..
Although a high troponin level could be from a heart infection I think.
Hope your DS is ok and being looked after in the right place.
