Violent vomiting for hours overnight so thought just bad dose of D&V. But very sore chest. Sore neck (glands like 2 hardboiled eggs). No temp but shivery.
Pale, clammy, massive headache not resolving with ibuprofen / paracetamol. Any ideas what it might be (covid?)
We are due on hols in 12 days (1st flight ever) & would really like him well.

Colchicine is for gout. It is interesting. I didn't know it was given for other conditions.

It has been used for pericarditis for a while, now it seems to be used sometimes for myopericarditis as well: heart.bmj.com/content/heartjnl/early/2024/01/18/heartjnl-2023-323484.full.pdf

I am told it is the only herbal medicine approved by NICE

I looked it up under NHS and they have a list of those who shouldn't take it. That includes heart and kidney patients, so perhaps that is just a warning for people who buy it over the counter?

I went to a small injuries clinic because my big toe on one foot was swollen and painful, and I thought it was an infection. The doctor said it was gout and gave me the colchicine. Two days later the infection had spread, and I have 'CIDP' feet. worse than diabetic feet. I went to my GP who gave me antibiotics and it was reduced in 24 hours. It was a very bad experience.

Hello1234456 · 04/09/2024 21:30

I was prescribed it by a cardiologist at a major teaching hospital (not in the UK). I just noted it for the OP in case they are able to get a second opinion

It is surprising how opinions differ. My CIDP gives me 'diabetic feet' and I have no sensation on the skin of my feet, so have to be very careful. In September 2022 I had a serious ulcer on one foot and had no idea until is started a long red line on top.

Few medics believe you can have feet which have a pulse and warmth yet have no sensation. By December antibiotics it was still bad, so was referred to the NHS podiatrist. She spent a lot of time saving my toes from amputation and eventually it healed in May 2023!

Now I go regularly, much more often when I see a spot.
