Do you think this will make their moderate supporters think again?

Ah ok I remember he was a lawyer wasn't he trying to pretend he had morals.

Oh I've had a Google he wasn't a lawyer not sure why I thought that.

Sookafatwan · 28/06/2024 20:51

All the frothing over Reform fans just fuels their cause and endears floating right wingers to vote for them. Look at all those that underestimated Trump fans and he did OK for a while!

It isn't true.

But the conspiracy theory is out there now and people are going to keep popping up and regurgitating it.

No, Channel 4 haven't faked it or been duped. Their investigative journalism is excellent. And the footage is of other Reform members who are also using hate speech (homophobic and racist). It can't be pinned on one man who happens to be an unemployed actor - guess what, they can be racist too. Just ask Lawrence Fox.

Farage and Reform supporters will push and push this 'actor' lie and avoid all questions about the other people featured in the expose for whom they can't figure out a cover story. There is no reason to believe that Parker is anything other than just one more racist Reform activist. There are plenty of them.

There is no reason to believe that Parker is anything other than just one more racist Reform activist.

This can all be sorted out quite quickly by having some reasonably independent media outlet talk to him and a few of his friends. If this was in fact a put-up job and he is in fact Liberal Lefty Lenny from Lambeth then presumably he is not going to want to sustain the "I am a proud racist" line for very long, now he's no longer getting paid.

Yes I know some people love it when others are upset by racism. But it's not really a viable alternative to ignore racism and allow people to incite violence against asylum seekers and Muslims or use racial slurs.

Even if it gets some racists all excited, I think we should all be treating that kind of language and sentiment really seriously. We do need to condemn it, we do need to challenge it and we do need to maintain that it doesn't belong in political discourse.

WhimsicalMoth · 28/06/2024 21:02

In my humble opinion, reform has no "moderate supporters" anyway. If you're stupid enough to follow this party, then you're happy enough to get tarred by the same brush. Simple.

Agreed.

Wonder what those same people think of Farage saying that Andrew Tate “is an important voice for men” 🤪

Sookafatwan · 28/06/2024 21:10

LOL bringing Andrew Tate into it.

For the same reasons you're voting for who you want to vote for

So what are those reasons?

Why is it funny to point out the misogyny along with the racism?

I’m Pakistani, when I’m in the UK I rarely go a week without hearing it or being called it.

And not only since 2016 either. Brexit just made them bolder. The UK is systematically and institutionally racist. Most just know how to speak in 'polite company' but sadly many truly believe people of other ancestries are inferior and once in a while, the mask slips

tinytemper66 · 28/06/2024 21:16

No; it will probably appeal to their base voters.

Because I’m an ‘orrible waythitht!!!!

RubySloth · 28/06/2024 21:20

Not after it's been discovered that the guy used to work for ch4 and a stitch up. It makes people rebel when this information comes out.

This is on a level with people who believe the Sandy Hook parents are crisis actors.

Sookafatwan · 28/06/2024 21:22

Which way Tate might vote is totally irrelevant. What matters is that Farage has praised him.

I guarantee no one is that fucking thick to say that kind of stuff near election time. Everytime a far right party gets hype these comments come out amazingly 🙄

Andrew Tate is a horrendous misogynist. As is Farage.

I think the level of thick in Reform might surprise you.

It wouldn't fucking surprise me.

WhimsicalMoth · 28/06/2024 21:29

@solsticelove well I assume the same people will absolutely be supporting Andrew Tate and rooting for trump also.
They might be able to muster up at least 0.5 of a brain cell all together 🤣

RubySloth · 28/06/2024 21:29

TaxiCabsAndBusyStreets · 28/06/2024 21:25

It doesn't surprise me, politics brings allsorts out of the woodwork but it's just ironic that everytime the middle feels threatened this happens. I don't particularly like reform but it's no different to when corbyn or anyone else that deems to be out of the norm gets lots of attention so we can stick to the same parties

TaxiCabsAndBusyStreets · 28/06/2024 21:30

And @rubysloth it is absurd to imagine Channel 4 have fabricated this - they're not going to throw away their stellar record on investigative journalism by making up a story about Reform.

It wasn't just Andrew Parker in the footage - established Reform members were there being exposed making homophobic and racist comments and the party cannot pretend that they are paid actors. It's ridiculous enough to suggest Parker is acting.

And I wonder what it is about 'far right parties' that means racist comments come out, what a head scratcher.

larkstar · 28/06/2024 21:31

No. They were irrelevant a week before the election was announced and as soon as the election is over they will return to being completely irrelevant.
