How many fans have you had on in the House today? 🙂

OP posts:
Davros · 26/06/2024 21:15

None

GrandHighPoohbah · 26/06/2024 21:16

We have one each that moves round the house with each person.

AIstolemylunch · 26/06/2024 21:17

I have a tower fan in every room now aprt from teh bathrooms, they work pretty well.

HÆLTHEPAIN · 26/06/2024 21:18

One in each of the kids’ bedrooms and air con in the living room!

Autumn1990 · 26/06/2024 21:18

One in the kitchen
bedrooms are fairly cool as I don’t open the curtains

soupfiend · 26/06/2024 21:19

Got one facing me now in the bedroom. We have fans in most rooms, dont understand why people wouldnt.

tinytemper66 · 26/06/2024 21:21

Don't have any. I work all day in a hot classroom and just got on with it. Temperature has dropped tonight here so there is no need for a fan. I never use one as I can't stand the noise.

Butterflyfern · 26/06/2024 21:24

None. It's been fine. Just kept curtains shut in rooms with direct sunlight. WFH and perfectly comfortable in t-shirt & shorts

MalteserGeezee · 26/06/2024 21:25

Installed air conditioning earlier this year. Best money I've ever spent, annoyed with myself for not doing it years ago! Meaco fans are very good, lovely flow and really quiet considering. I'm a big fan of that brand (pun intended)

We did the air con too, although only in the living room currently. It is absolutely bloody brilliant! I may get it in our bedroom as well!

BatshitCrazyWoman · 26/06/2024 21:29

I've been in the office (and on non-air conditioned public transport) today. Several fans on in the office (no air conditioning, was 28° inside). Jubilee line was hotter than Hades, ditto the train, so I have a small hand held fan for trains. Currently in bed (very early start) with the fan on me.

Hoglet70 · 26/06/2024 21:33

None. Been in my lovely air conditioned office all day. There will be two in the bedroom tonight, one on either side of us.

Feministwoman · 26/06/2024 21:56

Hand fan. As in the hand powered wave around sort, not the powered bladed fan.
Works for me

Feministwoman · 26/06/2024 21:58

You do all realise all your electric powered cooling mechanisms are making global warming, and hence the current climate heating, worse.

Yes?

Icecreamcone100 · 26/06/2024 22:01

Fan in each bedroom. It’s 31 degrees in my son’s room tonight 🥵 looking forward to the cooler night hopefully tomorrow.

Everygrain · 26/06/2024 22:01

Air con on in bedroom, one fan downstairs

WannabeHealthier · 26/06/2024 22:05

Aircon in U.K.homes? Didn’t know this was a thing

Whatever happened to paper fans? No one uses them any more

I must admit I caved and bought one of those neck fans for the office, we have no air con and it’s like a greenhouse. But my house keeps pretty cool 😎

hattie43 · 26/06/2024 22:05

One

Yes?

Absolutely. But seeing as I have a condition that means I don’t regulate my temperature well and heat makes me ill then I’m ok with that.

IBegYourBiggestPardon · 26/06/2024 22:06

Non. It's thick of fog and 13 degrees over here.

reluctantbrit · 26/06/2024 22:10

None, not needed.

Everything is opened wide when we get up at 6.30am, closed and curtains drawn by 8.30am.

That means the rooms are fairly cool-ish and when it is cooler, all windows and doors are open again.

We had some problems 2 years ago when it hit 40 degrees but this week, that's normal Summer.

Happilyobtuse · 26/06/2024 22:11

Two table fans in each occupied bedroom currently. One on each bedside table so that the room stays cool and bearable. We also have an air cooler which is quite effective and used in the lounge.

Soubriquet · 26/06/2024 22:11

There was a lovely cool breeze today so no fans

Gladtobeout · 26/06/2024 22:15

Ofgs it didn't even hit 30 in most places. It was a pleasant summers day (finally). If we get another 40 heatwave, fair enough. Tubes/trains I have sympathy for the commuters, I know it gets unbearable very quickly. But otherwise, just open the windows and drink plenty!

Radiatorrung · 26/06/2024 22:22

It’s odd, people seem so much more aware of climate change, their carbon footprint except when it comes to air con! 😁
