My personal trainer, my eyebrow lady, my weight trainer, my hairdresser are all abandoning me.

Last year I started a thread because I had a mild panic that my personal trainer was about to up and leave the city we live in. Here's the thread. She didn't leave. Good news and all has been well since.

But now she is actually going. And leaving the fucking country this time. So deja vu. But worse. I'm absolutely gutted. But I'd kind of mentally prepared myself last year so I can just about handle it.

This was about a week ago that she told me she was leaving.

In the seven or so days since:
My eyebrow lady told me that she's moving away to be closer to her parents.

The chap that leads the small-group, women-only weightlifting sessions that I go to said he's taking an undetermined break to restructure his business.

My hairdresser text me to say she's having another baby so after my next appointment, she won't be around until late-2025 if she comes back at all.

The fuck?! What have I done to all these people?!

I've tried venting to DP, he doesn't get it. Can you let me vent and wallow a bit, MN?

I was kind of motivated to seriously start exploring a new PT. But then I lost all will when I also realised I'd need to find a new eyebrow lady, weightlifting instructor and hairdresser. Or I could not bother, just let myself absolutely go to seed. It's clearly what these abandoning bastards want 😭😭

I know I'm going to sound like a complete knob-head but I suspect my PT is going to tell me that she's moving away when I meet her on Monday. She's...

I have lived 55 years without a PT, an eyebrow lady or a weight trainer; and with only occasional visits to whichever hairdresser I find cheap/available, and I'm just fine!

I was just thinking that!

Who needs an eyebrow lady?

Meadowwild · 25/06/2024 15:45

No one needs a specific eyebrow lady. I have yet to meet a brow beautician who does a measurably worse job than any other. Just get someone else to thread/wax/dye your brows and you'll realise it's fine.

Combine PT and weights person. Look for a PT who also offers bootcamp/weights classes. Or find a good weights trainer and ask if they also do PT.

Then have a good sob about hair. Finding the right hairdresser is a nightmare.

LeftBereft · 25/06/2024 15:46

@radio4everyday Who needs an eyebrow lady?

People like me who are completely inept at shaping their eyebrows so they look in any way similar to each other.

I had something similar earlier in the year - dentist, eyebrow lady, hair stylist and maybe something else. It threw me! But the new dentist is just fine, eyebrows are ok and I actually prefer my new hair but still miss the chats with my former stylist.

You will survive and might actually like the change in retrospect.

sweetnessandlighter · 25/06/2024 15:46

"What have I done to all these people?! "

Nothing. It's not about you. They're living their own lives.

LeftBereft · 25/06/2024 15:47

Yeah, my eyebrow lady is replaceable (for want of a better phrase).

My hairdresser is not. My PT is not. Jury's out on weights training - I love the small-group, women-only that he runs and I've not found anything similar yet.

Echobelly · 25/06/2024 15:48

Well unless you're the only client for each of them, I doubt it's personal!

SissySpacekAteMyHamster · 25/06/2024 15:48

I have an eyebrow lady, I am praying she never leaves as I have had some dodgy tint jobs!

I would look for a PT/weights instructor in one, surely you don't need 2 separate people for that.

I've just found hairdresser I love again, I'm hoping as she owns the business she will stick around!

mybeesarealive · 25/06/2024 15:49

Wind up thread. The servants are in revolt.

Do you know what the other women in your weight lifting group are doing? I'm assuming you're all in the same boat so someone else might have a solution? If not maybe you could work together and contact other PTs in the area and say "This person offered this service, we all liked it but they're stopping, is this a service you could offer"

KikiShaLeeBopDeBopBop · 25/06/2024 15:53

I get it op. First world problems and all that but still!

Good eyebrow people are hard to come by ime - I have mine threaded and finding ones who shape them well, without pinching your skin or putting their hands (or boobs!) all over you is hard.

Likewise finding a hairdresser and p/t you trust & gel with. Moan away and ignore the prims

LeftBereft · 25/06/2024 15:53

I totally understand its not personal, I know they're all just living their lives. Of course. That was a light-hearted comment. Obviously.

I hope the guy that looks after your swimming pool and the one that cleans the chandeliers are still hanging on in there.

You are genuinely surprised that your DP doesn't get it, really?

AstonMartha · 25/06/2024 15:53

I get it op.

Have a pity party for a bit but ask each of them if they have anyone that they could recommend to you.
The weights person you could ask the others in the group if they want to continue and look for someone together or couldn’t your PT do weights?

Ideally you would find a hairdressing PT that does eyebrows 😂

We've got a session tonight so we'll be discussing this... 😆

My PT sessions are a weird mix of yoga and boxing (she's an amateur boxer and qualified yoga teacher) which I absolutely love. So its not as easy as just finding another PT and rolling weights into that.

AstonMartha · 25/06/2024 15:56

I recently broke up with my PT after two years but would follow my hairdresser around the world if she dared to leave me.

This was very much the theme of the thread from last year. There is a huge demand for multi-talented people like this!

Personal trainers, hairdressers and eyebrow lady's are plenty full . Unless you live in a very remote village I'm sure you will be fine

I would be devastated to lose my PT to be fair. Can they recommend someone else that you can train with? Or do online sessions with you.

Just leave them as they are?

Mayflower282 · 25/06/2024 15:57

Sounds like it is triggering feelings of abandonment. Did you have early caregivers in your life who abandoned you (not necessarily through choice, eg death)? Maybe some therapy would help.

shearwater2 · 25/06/2024 15:58

Have you ever thought maybe it's not them, it's you? 😆

Reallyquitejaded · 25/06/2024 15:58

I’d struggle to lose those consistent people too. Not everyone has strong foundations/ experiences to build other relationships on. I still tear up when I think about my dentist retiring which was several years ago.
