Hairdresser refused to do my hair ....

tbstandsoff · 21/06/2024 20:34

Been going to her for 7 years now.
Go every 6 weeks
I get a t section highlights and the rest of my hair just cover the grey roots.
I was there a month ago and booked for today for my appointment (holiday in a week)

I got there and said "just the usual t section and roots"
She said "sorry I just put you down for roots ,I thought you wouldn't be wanting highlights again after just getting them done a month ago"
So I said "oh yeah I do as my hairs so naturally dark, and grows fast"
She said "sorry I don't have time,I can do your roots and cover the greys but no highlights"
So I said "well can you just do the t section and il do my roots myself "
She said no I don't have time.

I'm annoyed
She didn't ask what I wanted done
She booked my appointment as normal
So now I have dark /grey roots for holiday
Would you be annoyed ?

Yep

nc14 · 21/06/2024 21:15

I’m confused, she said she’d do your roots so why do you still have dark roots?

Fiery30 · 21/06/2024 21:18

Try and book another hairdresser.

just go somewhere else

Sillystrumpet · 21/06/2024 21:21

why didn’t you just get the roots done and let her cover Greys as she offered?

Chewbecca · 21/06/2024 21:40

What did you get done then?
The roots?

RhubarbAndFlustered · 21/06/2024 21:53

So you always go to the same hairdresser, for the exact same service, then you booked again for the service you always get and she decided to change it? Nope. You need to change too. Change hairdressers. I can understand someone who regularly has different cuts/styles/treatments making a vague unspecified appointment ending up with not what they wanted but this is not that at all.

TwattyMcFuckFace · 21/06/2024 21:55

I'd be annoyed with myself that I didn't state what I wanted when I booked the appointment.

FuzzyStripes · 21/06/2024 21:58

Have you had a t section every month for the last seven years? If so, and she has randomly booked you for the wrong appointment then YANBU.

Because she wasn't going to do the bleach highlights and was just going to put tint on the roots. This would leave all the roots dark with no lighter parts

TwixOwl · 21/06/2024 22:01

What did she actually do in the end?

Runnerinthenight · 21/06/2024 22:03

Go somewhere else.

wintersgold · 21/06/2024 22:36

Why was this not clarified when you booked the appointment?

tbstandsoff · 22/06/2024 08:02

@nc14 as in the rest of my roots brown (to hide the greys )
Not the highlights

tbstandsoff · 22/06/2024 08:03

I get the same thing
For the last two years I've only ever done t section and roots
I stopped doing full head highlights to stop damage.
She never asks what I'm getting done as it's a given

Mynewnameis · 22/06/2024 08:05

I accidentally booked just a blow dry last time instead of a hair cut. My error and they still cut my hair. As a regular customer I would have thought they would try and fit your in.

tbstandsoff · 22/06/2024 08:05

@TwixOwl nothing I left
It wasn't what I wanted
The main gripe I had was the contrast from dark to light on t section
I didn't want her to just cover the grey with the brown hair colour
I wanted highlights so left

I'd be annoyed with myself that I didn't state what I wanted when I booked the appointment.

Why? I've been going to the hairdresser's for the same thing for years. When we book the next one, it's clearly for the same thing.
The only reason to change is if the customer chooses to. It's not down to the hairdresser to decide to change the type of appointment (and on this case without communicating it). And the customer doesn't need to check that the hairdresser is suddenly changing the appointment type.

tbstandsoff · 22/06/2024 08:34

She said there wasn't a lot of contrast and the dark would of blended
I'm not going mad am I ...you can clearly see dark roots ?

She could have at least done single foils down the parting. It's quicker than applying just a tint.

Wowzel · 22/06/2024 09:01

This happened to me, but my hairdresser made it happen anyway even though it made her next 2 hrs of work really stressful

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 22/06/2024 09:09

What time was your appt?

Was it any different to usual? Like if you usually book in a morning was this at like 4pm instead?

tbstandsoff · 22/06/2024 09:22

@Jimmyneutronsforehead no it was at 1.30pm
It makes me laugh as once she ran a hour late
There's times she's left me at the sink for a hour too

OP posts:
Jimmyneutronsforehead · 22/06/2024 09:26

It sounds like you'd be better off taking your money elsewhere then and finding a new hairdresser.

If it was just a one off no time scenario I'd say YABU as she might genuinely have other commitments and be being honest about it.

If she's left you at the sink for a hour before though it sounds like she's got some time management issues and poor planning skills, and while you might be happy with the outcome, your time is important too.

ImPunbelievable · 22/06/2024 09:49

It sounds like a one of misunderstanding. If you like her then just move on from it. We're all human
