Too many of both to count but probably about 50:50 split. Maybe 20ish of each

Muchtoomuchtodo · 17/06/2024 13:21

More funerals, definitely.

mitogoshi · 17/06/2024 13:22

Many more funerals, occupational hazard!

Cattenberg · 17/06/2024 13:22

Definitely more funerals. A couple of times I didn’t even know the deceased, but was asked to go to support somebody else.

Theothername · 17/06/2024 13:23

Funerals by a good margin. Missed a few weddings because dc weren’t included, or costed out of foreign destinations. Funerals in Ireland always include dc

Knittedfairies2 · 17/06/2024 13:23

Definitely funerals, many of them children.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/06/2024 13:24

Weddings but I am expecting them to be overtaken by funerals as I'm nearly 64.

Summertimer · 17/06/2024 13:26

Probably 50/50 but probably only because my parents and their generation are 80s and 90s now

DoYouSmokePaul · 17/06/2024 13:27

5 weddings (including my own)
5 funerals

I’m 40 next year.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 17/06/2024 13:27

Approx 8 weddings (didn't think it was that many)

Well over 20 funerals

Edited to add: I also meant to say that included my own wedding. And I'm 53.

BuyOrBake · 17/06/2024 13:28

Far more funerals!!!!

EasterlyDirection · 17/06/2024 13:28

A lot more weddings (about 35 compared to about 15 funerals)

Boutonnière · 17/06/2024 13:31

Many more weddings , and I’m old. I commented to my husband recently that my late twenties/early 30s were like 4 Wedding and a Funeral , without the funeral. Summers of getting or giving lifts to obscure parts of the deep countryside , staying in a variety of B&B’s or pubs that were filled entirely with guests , wrangling 2 hats and three guest outfits into various combinations.

And now my two DDs are doing the same thing, only now they stay in Airbnbs.

I’ve been to my grandmother’s funeral, my parents’ ones, a colleague and a friend’s husband’s memorial service which I shall count.

PartoftheBand · 17/06/2024 13:32

8 funerals
Approx 15 weddings

AuntieMarys · 17/06/2024 13:32

10 weddings and 3 funerals. I'm mid 60s

SomewhereOverTheHill · 17/06/2024 13:34

12 funerals and 10 weddings

Edited

I've now done a quick count of all I can remember as the question intrigued me and I have it as 23 funerals and 26 weddings.

Quite a few of the funerals are about me going to support one of the family rather than being my own family member or friend who had died.

LemonCitron · 17/06/2024 13:35

Far more weddings. There was a period in my late 20s / early 30s when I was going to 6 or 7 weddings a year!

I've only ever been to 5 funerals.

YorkieTheRabbit · 17/06/2024 13:38

More funerals sadly

SallyWD · 17/06/2024 13:41

I've lost count but I think more weddings. I haven't even been to that many weddings either.

cheezncrackers · 17/06/2024 13:42

So far, weddings. I honestly don't know how many! Quite a few. And only a handful of funerals, but I lived OS for a while so I missed a few that I'd otherwise have gone to.

RefusingToPlayYourGames · 17/06/2024 13:42

Lots of funerals - 2 grandparents, mum, dad, 2 brothers, 2 aunts, 3 uncles, a nephew, 4 friends.
Weddings - 2, one next week

sunflowerdaisyrose · 17/06/2024 13:44

Thankfully a lot more weddings. I've been to 4 funerals of those gone way too early and too many to count of older family and friends (maybe 20) but I reckon I've been to over 40 weddings.

heartbrokenof · 17/06/2024 13:45

9 weddings
1 funeral
But I'm in my 30s so I think this will change

GameOfJones · 17/06/2024 13:45

12 weddings (a mixture of friends and family's weddings)

6 funerals (all older family members.)

Fortunately, I've never been to the funeral of someone younger than 60 or a friend. I suppose that naturally changes as you get older perhaps.

I'm in my mid 30s.
