5 each for me

5 weddings
6 funerals only 2 of which were grandparents. The other three were friends who died far too young. I'm 33 currently so hoping the scales tip the other way soon

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 17/06/2024 14:25

Equal amount of both I think - 11 weddings and 11 funerals (don't think it would be a great sequel...)

BobbyBiscuits · 17/06/2024 14:25

9 weddings, 6 funerals. I'm guessing the funeral count will sadly increase throughout the years. Wedding wise I can only think of maybe three or 4 more that 'could' happen that I'd ever be invited to.

Meadowwild · 17/06/2024 14:26

15 weddings iirc (16 if I include my own)
7 funerals

circular2478 · 17/06/2024 14:27

12 weddings
6 funerals

usernother · 17/06/2024 14:35

I've been to 18 weddings (including my own) and 6 funerals.

Thingsthatgo · 17/06/2024 14:37

Wow! When I saw the question I assumed it would be weddings for everyone.
I have been to at least 50 weddings (not including the ones I sang in the choir for as a child), and approximately 10 funerals.

Catsmere · 19/06/2024 03:36

Two of each for me. Doubt I'll attend any more. I won't have one for my mother or myself, and doubt my sister will, either. We're the last of the family. I don't know anyone who'd be getting married, and wouldn't expect (or want!) an invitation if I did. I have casual friends now, not close friends, so those sort of events aren't part of my life.

Anotherdayanotherdollar · 19/06/2024 03:57

I'm Irish, so, loads more funerals. Everyone goes to support the family and pay their respects. Although, in saying that, I've been to plenty of weddings too

DilemmaDelilah · 19/06/2024 06:54

I have been to 8 weddings and 5 funerals, but 3 of the weddings were mine, and my siblings have had 2 each!

ShiftySquirrel · 19/06/2024 07:38

Ten weddings and 15 funerals.

I'm early 40s with a large family which is most of the reason for the weddings.
The funerals are a mix of family and friends. Some very young.

Noosnom · 19/06/2024 07:42

5 weddings
7 funerals. First one was my teenage cousin 🩵.
I'm 50.

happystory · 19/06/2024 07:53

18 weddings and 12 funerals. Though I suspect now I'm in my sixties, that balance may change.

WeAllHaveWings · 19/06/2024 07:57

Over my lifetime more weddings. Last 10 years, more funerals.

Probably both because I’m in my 50s now and most younger people I know are choosing to live together/elope/have small destination weddings.

ExhaustedGoose · 19/06/2024 09:16

9 weddings, 3 in person funerals and one awful video-link funeral in January 2021 (Covid)

DifficultBloodyWoman · 19/06/2024 09:17

About the same, I think.

elastamum · 19/06/2024 10:29

Probably weddings, but sadly funerals are starting to catch up. I'm 60.

Fifthtimelucky · 19/06/2024 10:39

Throughout my life, definitely more weddings.

In the last 10 years, definitely more funerals.

I'm hoping for a good spate of weddings in the next ten years or so as my children and nieces/nephews are now mainly in their 20s, but I imagine the number of funerals will continue to increase for the rest of my life. I'm in my 60s.

CraftyNavySeal · 19/06/2024 10:43

8 funerals including parents, grandparents and a class mate when I was in sixth form.

5 weddings most of which were my exes family. I’m 32 and only 1 of my friends is married.

Girlwithapple · 19/06/2024 10:45

8 weddings and 12 funerals for me

BuggeryBumFlaps · 19/06/2024 10:50

6 weddings
6 funerals

TabbyM · 19/06/2024 12:21

Weddings by a narrow margin

amusedbush · 19/06/2024 12:44

I'm 34 and have been to 2 funerals and 5 weddings - including my own.

I was 27 when I attended my first funeral (my MIL's), then the second (my maternal grandad) was just a few months later. My paternal grandad passed away when I was 8 but I didn't go to the funeral and, miraculously, nobody close to me died in the next two decades.
