I've just bought a big parcel box for the sole purpose of not having to talk to the postman any more.

And now I feel guilty. Which is stupid I know but it turns out I have a heart after all.
Or a piece of one rattling round in an otherwise ice cold body.

My postie is a bloody judgemental and nosy bugger. He asks so many intrusive questions that I have to bat away but I also realise he's unhappy and maybe doesn't get to talk to people but bloody hell I'm sick of being grilled at my front door.

Where's my husband today, what's he doing? Why's he doing that? He's only just come back why's he going away again? He's in London today? Why has he gone there? Why do you do this? Why do you do that? What's going on with your neighbours house? Supposed to be a col crisis you wouldn't think it with all the parcels everyone's getting, etc. what do I do for a living, why do I do it, is there much money in it? Am I going away, I'm not? Why not? I should, why don't I? What's wrong?

I just reached my breaking point this morning and told him it's because I'm batcrap crazy and haven't left the house in years.

Then said my goodbyes and went on Amazon to buy an extra large parcel box just so I don't have to answer the door to him again.

I can't be the only one who has gone to ridiculous lengths to avoid people 🤣. So what are your stories?

Hello 👋

I just wanted to mention that poster @phonerings absolutely hounded me last night too. Thread now deleted as it really was upsetting in the end.

I am also ND and if anything, she ramped it up after discovering that.

She seems to have now been banned thank goodness!!! PBP by the looks of it.

Sometimes we aren't the weirdos op! ♥

I'm glad they are banned I honestly don't know what is wrong with people sitting behind their screens trolling people I mean there has to be lacking in something when they trawl posts and don't see the irony in calling people weird! . It's all so strange.

There's a persistent troll whose topic of choice is autism. I wonder if this was them at it again.

Mate, we'd get in like a house on fire! Also autistic with a nice dash of ADHD to go with it, and I don't think you're rude at all! If anything, you've been too nice to this postie. I'd have nipped this in the bud long ago.

That particular one was 20 years ago but it was one of the more significant ones because it's probably the most angry I've ever been in my life (and I used to bite myself in rages up to being a teenager so when I say angry it's whole other level angry.)

There are, sadly, too many other examples that are more recent (although getting fewer and farther between as I have learned how to control myself over the years) but the people involved might recognise them. I can tell this one safely without getting outed because my mum won't use the internet and my dad is dead so can't.

Just FYI repeatedly banned little troll - it's me that clocked you both times and reported and I will continue to do so and now won't even bother engaging with you on this thread any more.

I don't know what your deal is, captain sadsack but you don't have the power to upset me and you bore me.

More than likely.

Sadly I doubt they're gone for good. They'll be back. Single issue trolls are persistent.

Grab your phone when he knocks and hold it to your ear.

"thanks a lot, sorry just taking a call ..."

close door.

every time.

Knowing my luck, it'll ring while I'm doing it. 🤣

I hid in the boot of my car in an Asda carpark to avoid my ex's new girlfriend.

Yes, unfortunately. Although I try very very hard to not be.

Example I told my parents they were shitty grandparents and either change or get out of my life and I don't care which.

When I'm not interested in what someone is saying I used to say "I don't care". Until my husband trained me out of it because it's apparently very rude
I wasn't being rude - I just thought there was no point them wasting there time.

One this morning my husband asked me where his knife was and I said wherever you left it. Again, very rude. But I wasn't being rude, I actually meant - it's where you left it, I don't know.

And when I intend to be rude I know I go too far. I've said things like did I pass out and miss the part where I asked for your opinion. I've said things like I don't give a shit what you think about anything.

(Yes I am autistic as are my children. I try very hard to follow expected social norms and interactions even when they make no sense.)

This made me laugh out loud.
My friend is exactly the same, I remember her telling a colleague (who was showing off that she'd been to the gym that morning) "I don't give a rats arse whether you go to the gym or not".
And she told our boss after he'd informed her that she only scored 50% on her annual appraisal, "But you're assuming I actually give a shit what you think".
So rude. But hilarious 🤣
Don't change 🤗

Lisachooky · 17/06/2024 13:52

No, it's a release to blow up and tell the brutal truth, I told my mother she had been an awful mother,(mental and physical abuse from 7-18) and an even worse grandma, sadly perfectly true,if you don't explode with the truth, you live with the regret of not doing so for the rest of your life,

Gooly62 · 17/06/2024 13:53

Back on topic though, we have a neighbour exactly like that.
I once saw him making a beeline for me when I was sorting my van out, so I jumped in the back of the van and shut the door. After about 5 minutes I figured he'd gone but I couldn't open the van door. Had to ring my husband to come home from work and let me out of the van, I was having panic attacks. Just as he finally opened the van door, the neighbour suddenly appeared and went "Aha I was wondering where you were!"

Lisachooky · 17/06/2024 13:55

As for your postie, take your courage in both hands, step towards him in a determined way and ask him pointedly "why do you need to know where my husband is"?

willWillSmithsmith · 17/06/2024 16:13

My dog barks so loudly it’s impossible to have a doorstep conversation, people can’t wait to leave 😁 Switch on a recording of a very loud dog if you still can’t get rid.

HiddenBooks · 17/06/2024 16:24

My first thought was "I hope Amazon send the parcel directly, rather than using Royal Mail, because the postman delivering the parcel box that you're buying to avoid the postman would be quite ironic"! 😂

YANBU OP - I couldn't put up with that nonsense either and I think you've been very restrained to not tell him to mind his own business!

If you do ever see him and he questions it, just say the deliveries were beginning to disrupt your work day, so this was the best option.

I reckon you'll have to put a note on the front door for a while though asking people to use the parcel box. He'll think the box doesn't apply to him because you always chat!

beanii · 17/06/2024 16:54

Am I being a bit thick - why is buying a box stopping this happening?

Why do you have to open the door to him in the first place?

Poddledoddle · 17/06/2024 17:06

He sounds like a 4 year old 🤣 dont feel too guilty, he clearly thinks you are mates, so he'll probably just ignore the box.

Dubuem · 17/06/2024 17:06

Maybe he is on the spectrum. Why report him and possibly lose him a job.

HedgingWithASledgehog · 17/06/2024 20:37

I love that this thread turned so quickly from mailboxes to telling people "I don't care"! I think your posts are brilliantly written and insightful and you have fronted up to the trolls in style @IncompleteSenten

Why should his "needs" trump the OPs needs/feelings etc??
