Blimey, She’s not letting him off the hook at all. Cut above the rest of the interviewers IMO.

Sky says 36:84 in favour of KS as to who won with over a 1000 pollsters.

Last week a gnat’s whisker between them.

D Day was a fatal error.

D Day .....and in other news this week.....

  • the UK economy coming to a halt
  • unemployment rising.
  • Sunak's aide placing a bet on the outcome of the election
  • Andrea Jenkyns putting a photo of Nigel Farage on her election leaflet
  • the release of the Conservative manifesto promising to do many of the things they've singularly failed to do over the last 14 years.

None of that can be helping

Goldenbear I don’t know a soul who likes him and I’m a Labour voter and I only know Labour voters. The only thing in his favour is that he isn’t Corbyn.

Hope is no excuse for anyone burying their head in the sand.

Neither of this pair of privileged career clowns are fit to run a bath, let alone a country as downtrodden by political opportunism and media muck-spreaders as this.

@Netaporter

Sorry Nothing to do with pies. Everything to do with what the tories have done to successive leaders over the past year.

Pies made me lol! 🙌🏻

You won’t get anywhere.
I don’t think she’s biased anyway just very good at what she does, which is giving top politicians a going over.😁

Possibly. But its important to give honest feedback re BR's performance tonight. I'm normally a big fan of hers but it was really biased tonight imo.

discussing this with friends who are 40- mid 40s, range of jobs in Finance, law, architecture, even a Forester like him, it came up as we were discussing change in voting from our parents. That said, my Mum in her 70s likes Starmer and is now voting Labour.

Even Laura Kunessburg and Fiona Bruce are less biased than what Beth was tonight, which is saying something.

She was shockingly bad. Now it’s Sophie and Sarah Jane on you can see the difference in professionalism

Starmer does not have a privileged background.

Basically imo they are all lying bastards. Not sure I can actually vote for any of them. Spoil the ballot paper???
I do wish a party called ‘None of the above’ stands as I’m sure they’d win.

Tactically vote to try to get the best MP in for your own constituency.

Most constituencies in this election will be marginal under our FPTP system.

There are things your local MP, regards of political party, can do for you if you have certain issues.

However some MPs don't think their bread and butter is helping their constituents.

Starmer does not have a privileged background.

Starmer went to a Grammar school that turned into a private school.

Btw I was state educated in the comprehensive system. Due to where I grow up, which was completely accident, myself and my younger siblings ended up with very good comprehensive educations.

coffeandteav · 12/06/2024 21:46

Beth is on again. Wow she really is biased.

Proper Tory there.

How is a Grammar school privileged? My Mum went to a Grammar school is bright but travelled from the inner City, not really privileged, but I nice family and supportive parents (my Grandparents).

How was she biased in favour of Sunak? She ripped him to pieces, it was hard to watch. He looked like he wanted to cry at points.

For me both parties miss the point tho - I and I reckon most people, would pay more tax, if we saw results with public services.

Eg:

  • pay nhs staff fairly
  • allow recruitment fromEurope (we lost loads of nurses after brexit)
  • recruit more and actually invest with new hospitals

But they cut, fight and offer tax cuts. But I think we actually just want stuff to work and work well.

NashvilleQueen · 12/06/2024 22:10

That guy that asked the robot question is on sky now. What an awful person he is.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to find he's a bit of a Tory plant. Just the phrasing of the question and the way it was clear whatever KS said he would reply that he's not voting for him.

NW1mumm · 12/06/2024 22:22

I really liked Kier Starmer and thought he came across as credible, competent, and intelligent, and in touch with what people care about in general. I actually liked him and felt he did come across as human. He's clearly also ruthless in a way the PM needs to be.

The "you've changed" question was very shallow.

Letting him off the hook!! I should bloody well hope not. This man is not only going to be the Prime Minister, he is going to have a huge majority, meaning he will be able to do what he likes. Truth is, he’s basically a socialist. Certainly a more intelligent and moderate socialist than Corbyn, but still at heart a socialist.

NashvilleQueen · 12/06/2024 22:46

Labour tried to close them all down. I went to a cr@ppy comprehensive but have no issue with kids that got in to grammar, good luck to them. We should really try and drag all schools up to grammar level not close the grammars to show how bad the comps are.

But he answered that question didn’t he? Did you watch it? He said that he wanted to be supportive and do the best for his Labour Party colleagues, he is a member of the Labour Party what did you expect him to say- I liked that answer it shows loyalty and commitment.

But it isn’t Privilege as the comment from the poster was eluding to- he’s 61, I would imagine that it was not a deliberation that would have arisen due to political persuasion, perhaps the parents voted Labour and just wanted their child to have a good education; my Grandparents voted Labour but still sent my Mum to Grammar school, she is 15 years older than Starmer so maybe the outlook was different but I think Grammar equals privilege is very much a modern day view of it.

I don’t think Grammars are something to revere, a good education can be delivered in a comprehensive school, my DC attend a good one and my DS’s 6th form college has had over 250 Oxbridge offers over the last three years.

She already had a bad record as Home Sec.

Was dealt an impossible hand with Brexit though.

Edited

Her October 2016 party conference speech, setting out her key red lines for Brexit was a bad move painted she and the country into an unnecessarily tight corner.

Anisette · 12/06/2024 23:28

I hate interviewers who don't let interviewees answer the question and interrupt when they're not getting the answer they want or expect. I hope Rigby does better with Sunak, he'll be less polite than Starmer.
