I'm an ice queen. All my friends and family agree. I never cry.

Except now I'm peri menopausal and every time I see a Taylor Swift bridge clip on Insta I become overwhelmed with emotion.

She make me cry!!

What makes you blub?

OP she's a billionaire pop singer who sings songs other people wrote. How can you be proud "off" (of) somebody you've never met?!

Edited

Old pensioner couples being affectionate. Sounds daft but when I see a couple of 70/80 somethings walking hand in hand or just clearly still being devoted to each ofher after half a century together makes me happy.

My kids have outgrown these books now but reading Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson- the bit where it says about the paper dolls being joined in her memory by more lovely things each year …
and
the bit in Here We Are by Oliver Jeffers where it says something like ‘sometimes life moves slowly … and sometimes it moves pretty fast so make sure you enjoy it’ or some such …
my kids knew to look up at me even before I got to those lines as my eyes would be filled with tears!

also the song ‘I Saw The Crescent’ by the Waterboys - it reminds me of my sister (sadly not with us any more)

The Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance. Specifically when the war widows walk in and everyone stands.

Makes me sob.

My cold heart is usually melted by a certain brand of achievement+struggle, usually sporting achievements but not all of them! You know when you are really rooting for someone and they are sooo happy they have won, or their parents are, or sometimes so broken to have lost? That often gets me.

A similar topic but different thing, but I remember watching that clip of the Brownlee brothers finishing a triathlon a few years ago. I of course knew of them, but don't follow the sport closely and just happened to put the TV on for the last few mins. When Jonny was leading but his legs turned to jelly and he was off his rocker with exhaustion in the home stretch, and Alistair caught up and practically dragged him across to the line, then the brotherly unceremonious shove across it... It ended me 😂

For me, it. Was the athlete, Derek Redmond in th 1992 olympics whose dad came onto track and helped him across (think he had snapped a hamstring or similar).. all the officisls tried to stop him and he almost foight them off to get him across line
.watch on you tube
Welling up just writing this

I cry daily. Not in a sad or depressed way. I love my life. But it’s takes anything from an advert on tv to seeing something beautiful in nature!

I cry at everything and like you am not sad or depressed. Sometimes it is really annoying.

Catchlock · 28/06/2024 08:44

@EnglishBluebell she writes her own songs. She has flourished inspite of people who know nothing about her speaking out against her.

The scene in Inside Out when Riley decides to run away from home always gives me a lump in my throat.

Bless her, it's all her negative thoughts that take over, but it's sadness that brings her back to actually feeling better, and getting off the bus.

That film is so clever and beautiful.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 06/07/2024 23:57

@MoiraRoseVibes the song title is 'The whole of the Moon' . I saw them recently and it was quite moving with all the crowd belting it out. It was my favourite song as a teen so very nostalgic for me.

Alalalalalongalalalalalonglonglilong · 06/07/2024 23:59

I get weird around new born babies or heavily pregnant women, I wouldn't openly cry but it gives me a lump in my throat. Partly cos I'm always a broody type but also the idea of this fresh new little life, it's just so beautiful.

I am the same OP, I just don't cry. My Mum died in January and I only cried on the day I got the news (sadly wasn't with her as it was unexpected) and on the day before her funeral. I haven't cried since. So I think that proves my credentials as a non-crier Grin.

BUT the theme music to the 1970s TV show Black Beauty has me sobbing every time I hear it. Especially if watching the video at the same time of that black stallion galloping through the fields. Got tears even thinking about it and writing it down!

Totally with you, I can picture every movement and crescendo of that music, kills me every time. Oh the them tune to White Horses is so nostalgic too but doesn't make me cry.
