I'm an ice queen. All my friends and family agree. I never cry.

Except now I'm peri menopausal and every time I see a Taylor Swift bridge clip on Insta I become overwhelmed with emotion.

She make me cry!!

What makes you blub?

Just remembered another one: the first ten minutes of the film ‘Up’.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 12/06/2024 22:11

The scene with nana and Barbara singing que sera sera in the Queen of sheba episode of the royle family. I sob every time.

Cattery · 12/06/2024 22:13

Loads of songs. Thinking about how much I love my sons and my niece. The march past at the Cenotaph. The poppies falling in silence at the annual remembrance service at the Albert Hall. So much touches my soul. I cannot understand how anyone can have a cold heart

BouleDeSuif · 12/06/2024 22:14

Celine Dion singing O Holy Night.
The very end of Cargo with Martin Freeman.

WmFnKdSg1234 · 12/06/2024 22:18

Call the Midwife. The earlier series 1-8. When the babies emerge, reminds me of the joy, relief and wonder of meeting my children.

OooPourUsACupLove · 12/06/2024 22:25

Big song and dance numbers in live theatre! Not even sad ones. They just fill me with a weird joy and I bubble up.

Also any version of Romeo and Juliet including Gnomeo and Juliet.

That's a beautiful scene.

Hachi a dogs tale

I went into work the day after work swollen eyes and I cried so much I scared the cat

buffyslayer · 12/06/2024 22:34

Oh and stuff where everyone sort of pulls together
Like the Dave day, to see that many bikers and people on every single bridge...

TheaBrandt · 12/06/2024 22:47

Kindness of strangers. Dd2 showed me an internet video set up scene where a mum explains to her children they have to share their meals (they are actors) as the mum can’t afford it. The children leave and an older mum not in on it comes
over just hugs the mum and insists on paying for their meals.

Probablyfinebutworried · 13/06/2024 00:01

Moana. I'm just so proud of her! And there's something about her carrying the traditions of her ancestors and the way they feature in the background of her songs doing these strange breathy "harrumph" noises, i have a good bawl 😄

Hellodarknessmyfriend · 13/06/2024 00:10

I binge-watched Lost Boys and Fairies and bawled and bawled. I literally never cry at anything on TV but the custody issue storyline was very close to home, albeit in a different way.
I wished more than anything I could have hugged my sons that night 😢

StillCreatingAName · 13/06/2024 00:20

In the film About Time, there’s a scene which absolutely breaks me- IYKYK- and it’s related to the feelings you’ve mentioned @Singleandproud
😭

Peacelily001 · 13/06/2024 00:25

Choirs- church and gospel (although I’m not religious at all)
Such a beautiful harmonious sound

It's called What Would You Do and all the episodes are on YouTube.

I like all the older stuff, it's a really heartwarming programme.

cholmondleywalker · 13/06/2024 07:56

The end of Charlotte's Web when the baby spiders fly away.
Pretty much the whole of Black Beauty. I red the children's abridgement in primary school and cried all afternoon.

imnotthatkindofmum · 13/06/2024 07:58

Slipping through my fingers - ABBA. I have 3 girls at various ages. Also perimenopausal though and I cry when I'm angry.

Lilly11a · 27/06/2024 21:19

I forgot one the scene in afterlife with Ricky Gervais and Joe Wilkinson where they are both saying their grief over their dead partner's is worse .

Joe says if I had the money for a drug overdose I would to join her, you are ok you still have hope and want to live ......

Ricky gives him money and Joe leaves straightaway, presumably to get drugs and overdose 😭

I tear up when I see people doing what they are good at, particularly theatre things when you know they probably started training at a very young age and are getting to live out their dreams, particularly when many of them probably thought it would never happen due to lockdown.
TS does the same to me too, when you see those stadiums filled to the brim just of people who want to see her, obviously she came from a well off family to begin with but she knew what she wanted and went for it, seemingly completely self driven but supported by family. I think if how proud her parents must be when they go to her concerts and see what she's built from a teen at her own first gigs only playing to a handful of people.

*that they are good at

EnglishBluebell · 27/06/2024 21:21

Catchlock · 12/06/2024 19:33

@Singleandproud I agree. TS is one woman I'm so proud off. She's faced so much shit from people and still she bounces back with the most inspiring lyrics.
So many songs I've listened to and been surprised it's how I feel but didn't know how to vocalise.
Amazing.

OP she's a billionaire pop singer who sings songs other people wrote. How can you be proud "off" (of) somebody you've never met?!

ItsOnlyJustBegun · 27/06/2024 21:27

Brexit makes me cry. Especially when I get off a flight and have to queue for hours to get through passport control. Especially when I think of Our young people unable to take the same kind of opportunities that I had as a youngster. Especially as we’re paying more for our imports. Especially as we’re desperate for people to fill jobs.
It somehow flicks a switch in me that other political shit shows don’t.
