Intimate photos on Mumsnet

Does anyone else find this concerning? My GP practise doesn't even allow genital pictures to be sent to them because of confidentiality and security.

I am also very concerned that there is a possibility of an alternative reasons these are being posted. Lots of posters have previously responded to these photos defending them by stating we should be allowed to ask women if we have problems that affect women. However as we are all well aware there are abusive men/women in the world. How do we know that the poster hasn't been forced to post these pictures or they have been posted without their consent? Without being too explicit there is also the concern of how old the actual person in the photo is.

Does anyone else think this or do you think posting intimate photos on a predominately woman's site justified?

Would this have anything to do with the giant pic of an arsehole 😂
I must admit I was a bit shocked and surprised by that. Especially as it's on the Internet for everyone to see. But I think a site like mumsnert, as long as the photos arent identifying anyone and there is a genuine question advice needed and it's not for another reason such as embarrassment or pleasure etc then I think it's okay. After all, no one would post such pictures of they thought they didn't have another option right? So they must be pretty desperate for help/advice to do that? So I think yes in a way it can be justified.

BusyCM · 10/06/2024 21:16

I also think it's wrong. Takes a particular type of person that feels sharing their arsehole on the Internet is appropriate.

PurplePolkaDot0 · 10/06/2024 21:17

Agree it’s so strange.

Pigeonqueen · 10/06/2024 21:21

I mean it’s not something I would do but it’s a random body part, anonymously. It doesn’t really bother me if it means people get the help they might not otherwise get in a medical sense.

DracoDormiensNumquamTittilandum · 10/06/2024 21:24

People shouldn't post pictures of their fannies and bumholes on mumsnet. They just shouldn't.

ShowerOfShites · 10/06/2024 21:24

Eww someone posted a pic of their arsehole?

I hope it came with a warning 😬😂

whyamisotiredallthetime · 10/06/2024 21:25

I'm still traumatised by it

StandardSize14 · 10/06/2024 21:25

I always try not to click on the pics but then do anyway from behind my fingers! I've seen all sorts on here - bums, fannies, nips, miscarriages, piles, cysts, diarrhoea, worms (which is almost always a bean sprout)

edited to say I don't really mind - nowt as queer as folk and some people just share without thought and some would never. At least it's anonymous!

Pigeonqueen · 10/06/2024 21:26

But why would you open the pic (because it was blurred with sensitive content on it) or even the thread if you are the type of person to be upset seeing an arsehole?

Exactly!!!

Hotnamehere · 10/06/2024 21:27

i don't think MN should allow people to post intimate photos.

Insette · 10/06/2024 21:28

I wouldn’t have thought that photos like the one posted were in the spirit of MN.

AmelieTaylor · 10/06/2024 21:33

I think it's fine. With the state of the NHS, there aren't too many places to turn for advice. They have 'sensitive content' covers.

take responsibility & don't open threads/photos that might offend you, it's really not difficult.

don't take away a source of support for other people.

WillimNot · 10/06/2024 21:34

As I just said on the thread, I hope OP doesn't give us an update photo post anusol usage.

All jokes aside, there are threads where it's been pointed out that people with strange kinks post on here to invite others to post similar for their own private enjoyment. A post with photos is going to be a jackpot for that sort of troll. To say "it's the net, it's anonymous" isn't enough. It's out there. I cannot fathom why anyone would post that. Or get an angle to photograph it in the first place.

MN is not the place for medical advice. If you have a genuine problem with your arsehole see a GP. Don't post pictures of it on the internet.

But often people are too embarrassed to seek help, even when they should, and will use a medical board here to sound things out and see what the consensus is. If lots of people tell them they need to see a GP it might spur them on to do that. My family has a really strong history of bowel cancer - Mum, Uncle and Gran all died of it - and if having access to post stuff like this means one person feels better about seeking help for what they perceive to be an embarrassing issue then it’s worth it surely.

wheretoyougonow · 10/06/2024 21:44

Thanks everyone for responding. I didn't start this discussion because of any current posts - there have been a fair few photos this year.

I am not a sensitive soul but I still have huge concerns about why they might be posted. Also, even though it's difficult to access GP etc asking strangers on the internet medical opinions is not really the best idea. A quick internet search will often help so I'm a bit at a loss as to why a photo would be needed.

This. ^ It clearly says 'sensitive content' and you have to click on the photo to see it. So these posters are purposely clicking on the blurred 'explicit' photo to open it up, and then acting all shocked and horrified and posting on here complaining.

Probably the same sort of people who complain to OFCOM about something a bit controversial on the TV when they didn't actually see it themselves. 🙄

I wouldn't post any intimate/private body parts pics personally, but people are only doing it in the general health board. Don't open the thread (and the photograph) if you don't want to see it!

Purposely opening a hidden/blurred photo, and then posting a thread to whinge about it is ridiculous!

As pps have said, some people are too shy to go to the GP, and on here they can be totally anonymous. No-one knows who they are!

BusyCM · 10/06/2024 21:54

I haven't looked, but I can still question the motives and sensibilities of someone posting their arsehole on the Internet.

But how do you know it's an arsehole that someone has posted, if you haven't looked at the photo? 🤔

My thoughts as well, you knew what it was so why go and take a look if you know you won't like it

RickyGervaislovesdogs · 10/06/2024 21:59

Where’s the arsehole? How have you stumbled across it? Is it an identifiable arsehole…

No one knows if it's the OPs arsehole being posted on the internet either. It's alright thinking MN is all girls together,In reality MN has more than it's fair share of pervs.

twohotwaterbottles · 10/06/2024 23:10

Someone popped a pic of their arsehole on mumsnet? Really? 😱🤣
