Intimate photos on Mumsnet

Does anyone else find this concerning? My GP practise doesn't even allow genital pictures to be sent to them because of confidentiality and security.

I am also very concerned that there is a possibility of an alternative reasons these are being posted. Lots of posters have previously responded to these photos defending them by stating we should be allowed to ask women if we have problems that affect women. However as we are all well aware there are abusive men/women in the world. How do we know that the poster hasn't been forced to post these pictures or they have been posted without their consent? Without being too explicit there is also the concern of how old the actual person in the photo is.

Does anyone else think this or do you think posting intimate photos on a predominately woman's site justified?

Where’s the arsehole? How have you stumbled across it? Is it an identifiable arsehole…

There was a thread with an obvious title. Along with the one that had a warning for graphic injury ... A and e or frozen peas.

I didn't look at either.

Why are you twisting yourself in knots to justify it.

they can describe the issue, explain it to 111, no one needs to post an explicit photo of their arse hole or genitals, and trying to justify it is just as weird.

I’m not! I’m explaining it! Why can’t you accept different people gave different opinions?

MN is not the place for medical advice. If you have a genuine problem with your arsehole see a GP. Don't post pictures of it on the internet.

Except it’s extremely hard to see a GP
Many people are fobbed off and I’ve seen MN co ing up again and again with diagnosis when said GP was saying ‘I dunno’.
And thats wo talking about threads where people wonder if they should be in A&E for things that are extremely concerning.

So yes on paper MN shouldn’t be the place for medical advice. In RL, it can be. As are many other social media outlet.

See a doctor like everyone else?

Really?? Don’t know where you live but here it can be weeks before you can even get to speak to a doctor on the phone - let alone a face to face.

Hotnamehere · 10/06/2024 21:27

i don't think MN should allow people to post intimate photos.

Too right they shouldn’t but then again mumsnet seems to allow anything apart from saying men can’t be women.

Sablecat · 11/06/2024 10:41

If there is no other advice available I can understand why people might. I can't see why people get so het up on the basis that somebody somewhere who is fairly peculiar might be getting off on looking at photographs of diseased bits - it's not hurting the anonymous poster. There is presumably plenty of warning before you open the photograph. I gather there might be more specialised sites for people who like this sort of thing anyway.

Remember embarrassing bodies tv show? saw a lot of intimate body parts being flashed about - before & after. Arseholes were covered I think at one point as well.

Yeah one episode included the bloke who had never been told he needed to wipe his arse after taking a dump. Whether it was a kink or not, who knows.

I'm glad I missed the giant bum hole picture.

I think it's fine. With the state of the NHS, there aren't too many places to turn for advice. They have 'sensitive content' covers.

take responsibility & don't open threads/photos that might offend you, it's really not difficult.

don't take away a source of support for other people.

Totally agree with this. Someone might be worried sick about a lump or whatever and have nowhere to turn. Maybe they're isolated with no family or friends and maybe they've got to wait 6 weeks for a doctor's appointment. Maybe they're too afraid to go to the doctors or they're in a controlling relationship.

They could be frightened to death and desperately need any help or reassurance they can get. When you're in a desperate position you often do things you wouldn't normally do.

Also, you don't have to click on the image!

MonsteraMama · 11/06/2024 10:52

I just don't think it's a good idea for anyone to be posting intimate photos online for any reason. As we've been trying to teach our kids for the last decade, once you put it on the internet it's there for life.

We can all pretend Mumsnet is all girls together but in reality there's a lot of creeps and pervs here. If it's a genuine post and not just a troll posting to get a reaction, I just hope they're doing it with the knowledge that it's now been downloaded and saved multiple times, shared in group chats and laughed at, is probably already being mocked and/or wanked over on 4chan, and may eventually end up being incorrectly put on an article about arse leprosy or something. It's out there now. Even if the thread gets taken down, their arsehole is online for life.

ItsNotInMyMind · 11/06/2024 11:02

Bumsnet sub site?

I agree. It would take me 3 weeks to get a GP appt for anything.
One Local pharmacy in 12miles & they would have it 'around the village' before you got home if it was anything sensitive / embarrassing (another thread really)
MN would be my 1st port of call for most things, though I'd jib at putting a pic of my bits up, I have put up a pic of a mole & asked for lots of other advice too.

That’s why you can call 111 and go to a walk in if it’s causing issues. Or wait to see a doc.

at mo stage is posting graphic pictures of your arse hole to ten million people on a public site a good idea, and I’m flabbergasted a small hand full of people seem to be defending it like it is.😱🤯😂

medianewbie · 11/06/2024 11:14

However, what @MonsteraMama says is sobering.

So you know you can call 111 and go to a walk in and they make an appt so reduces wait times, or you can wait the three weeks.

Yes and what if the site is hacked. And it can then be linked to you. Of course it is a terrible idea.

JustEatTheOneInTheBallPit · 11/06/2024 12:24

Oh my god, I just found the thread.

On the one hand... WTF?

On the other hand... nominating it for Mumsnet Classics, obvs.

I also think it's wrong. Takes a particular type of person that feels sharing their arsehole on the Internet is appropriate.

sorry i know this is a serious subject but this comment made me belly laugh

CottageGardens · 11/06/2024 13:18

How do you even take a photo of your arsehole?

I genuinely wondered that, so whilst laying on the sofa last night, reading this thread, I was effectively in the foetal position and put my arm round with my phone and aimed at my arse . No intention of taking a photo. But realised had I been naked you’d just see my arse cheeks.

as such, I’ve come to the conclusion that to get a full view like was posted, you’d need to be bent over with your arse cheeks spread whilst someone photographed it.

not sure anyone else thinks otherwise?

It’s in general health, asking if the person has piles. You also rather charmingly get two close ups, ya know, in case one isn’t enough,
