@comeondover it is silly really. When I met my DP now I was in a really bad situation. I was at a pub with my friends who all knew him. We all walked home together and trailed off one by one. He lived just past me so it ended up just him and me.
I won't go on and tell you the situation I was in but it was awful.
I don't believe in 'signs' or religion but about a week before I was sitting in my garden I whispered 'God I need to know what to do, I need a sign' heard a scurry and saw a hedgehog. Thought nothing of it.

When DP ( not at the time) was walking me home we saw a hedgehog.
Me in my desperation took that as a sign that he was the one who would make it all better.

12 years later I have a wonderful life with a man who won't even raise his voice at me. He stood by me while he was being stalked by a man with a crow bar (my ex)
I asked him to walk away and stay safe. What he did is got me a contract secret phone, he made my best friend aware of everything going on and he formed a support network for me. He took on my daughter, who is now 16 and they have an amazing relationship, he gave me 2 beautiful albeit crazy little girls and encouraged me to stand up for myself.

Had I not have seen that hedgehog I genuinely believe I wouldn't have allowed him to get close to me.
So the hedgehogs are a reminder to me of how far I have come. He makes me all things hedgehog not to remind me of that night and everything, he makes them to remind me of my strength that I got out and should I ever feel weak again that I am not.

I don't know if any of this makes any sense but I will not say DP changed my life. Me believing in a spiky rodent did. So all over my home there are hedgehogs. In my home they symbolise strength. In my home they symbolise bravery. In my home they symbolise new life.

That's so wonderful. Thank you for sharing your story, and the hope, resilience and goodness in it. I'm happy for you 🙂

Lamp/clock combo, Mother in Laws tongue plant, glass for water, upstairs mobile phone (old one for alarm) and at night my glasses would be on the side too.
